Simi Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 We'll send Fryatt, Oakley and Howard with him then. Mike Stowell has to be shown the door as well, for sure.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Most of us were going to games at that time so really we all need to move on as well. It's for the best
Guest Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 If Campbell and Kermo go that leaves us with a big hole up front. If Campbell stays it'll leave us with a big 'hole up front
Guest ttfn Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Assuming we play one up front, as Sousa likes to do, having Howard, Fryatt and this Crncic character, as well as Gallagher if needs be, is plenty of strikers. I don't think we need any more If this is true, I'd like to wish Campbell the best of luck at Blackpool.
dandannieldanok Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 If Campbell and Kermo go that leaves us with a big hole up front. It really doesn't, they contributed 1 goal to us last season, neither will be a loss (talking in comparison terms with last season) because one wasn't here and one just had no impact whatsoever.
Mawsley Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 Most of us were going to games at that time so really we all need to move on as well. It's for the best There's many ways I've been dumped - but this seems the most callous.
FoxyPV Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 If he goes, he goes. I have stopped caring. It's like being a teenager again and going out with some melter who is quite hot but everything is a fooking drama. In the end it's not worth the effort. If Blackpool are willing to offer c. £1m then I'll personally drive him to Blackpool.
davieG Posted 25 July 2010 Posted 25 July 2010 Looks more and more like he's staying, from the OS The goal at Oxford by DJ Campbell delighted City boss Paulo Sousa and was further evidence - a fourth goal in four pre-season games - that the striker seems back in the fold. Indeed, Sousa appears to be naming him as one of his most important players in the up-coming season. On his brilliant free-kick which opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw at Oxford this afternoon, Sousa said: "It was a great moment for DJ. He is full of confidence in himself and he is one of the players in better shape and someone who is going to help us a lot this season. I see all the time DJ with a lot of happiness in training sessions, his enthusiasm, and these are the sort of players I want to work with. He is someone very committed to me, to the club and to the fans and he is someone who wants to do great things for the club this season."

Interesting...<_< Could it be that Sousa is simply trying to improve his negotiating position should Blackpool (or whoever) come calling? I believe that if a Premiership club (Blackpool?) makes a serious offer, DJ will be gone! Despite what Sousa might say, DJ was a largely peripheral figure yesterday, the goal was decent enough but the main striker roles still went to Fryatt and Howard. This left DJ trying to make an impression from out wide or from midfield, he worked pretty hard and looked decent on occasions, but despite that was uninvolved for long stretches of the game. Surely if he is to be an 'important' player for Sousa he needs to be given the main striker role? Actually there is plenty of justification for this at this time as Fryatt looks a long way off his best and it makes no sense to start Howard if we are going to play the ball on the floor.

DJ was always calling for the ball to his feet when he was in some good positions,on most occasions the player on the ball passed to someone else, when he did get the ball he looked generally good and his free-kick was a cracker, didn't know he had that sort of goal in his locker. Plus, he takes a good corner too!
grth2004 Posted 25 July 2010 Posted 25 July 2010 if he is going to stay i hope he comes out and says something about his past here and can say how hes learnt from his past mistakes and hes looking forward to the new season playing for leicester . He realy needs to at least try and get some fans back on his side and the only way this will happen is if he opens his big mouth and says the right things for once.

Or scores a ton of match winning goals.

Plus, he takes a good corner too! Whatever the reason, DJ was out of the game for periods, even when we were going forward with intent. When he did get the ball he looked way more effective than Fryatt or Howard. As I said elsewhere, Howard simply does not fit the new style, the ball on the floor is not his forte and even when he does get involved in the play he slows everything down. If DJ is to play, he heeds to be leading the line, it is possible that the main reason he is not given that roll is because he is not going to stay.
Unit Posted 25 July 2010 Posted 25 July 2010 Whatever happened about the stabbing? It'd be just our luck to have him in form wanting to play for us and him ending up getting put away.

The Padster Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 Well looks like Sousa wants to keep him. Paulo Sousa wants to keep DJ Campbell at Leicester City DJ Campbell Leicester City's new manager Paulo Sousa wants to keep striker DJ Campbell. Campbell scored his fourth goal in as many pre-season games on Saturday when City were held 1-1 by League Two side Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. Sousa said he had been impressed with the fitness and attitude of the 28-year-old. Campbell's days at the Walkers Stadium appeared to be over at the end of last season after his successful loan spell at Blackpool and several clubs have expressed an interest in ending his so-far unsuccessful three-year stay with City. But, after the game, Sousa said he intends to keep Campbell, who seems rejuvenated under the former Portugal international midfielder. However, he also said he only wants to keep players who are fully committed to him and the club, and that any player who wanted to leave could do so. "DJ is in a great moment," he said. "He is full of confidence and he is one of the players in better shape. He will help us a lot through the season. I see him being here this season. He is very happy in training and he is enthusiastic. "He is the type of player I want to work with because we see when he loses the ball some good reactions also." Sousa added: "He is very committed with me and to the club and the fans. He is someone who wants to do great things for the club during this season." Sousa is set to complete the signing of Slovenian striker Leon Crncic at the start of this week after the 20-year-old agreed to a one-year deal. The former Atalanta forward was set to undergo a medical before signing. Sousa said he had other targets identified as he strengthens his squad. "We want to bring different players in but I will talk about the players only when they have signed the contract because I can't talk about speculation," he said. "My way to do things is to first complete all the signings we want and then we start to talk about them, because they will then belong to us. "We have to show them respect and their clubs and, more than this, respect for my other players." Merc
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 A very strange game. Jack Hobbs looked well out of sorts. The defense was quite fragile looking. D.J.' goal was a gem.
thybluefox Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Surely we can just say "5 in 5" and close this thread now. Please?
