a_kick_in_the_blogocks Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Good evening everyone As you may or may not be aware I have started a campaign to get Leicester based Pukka Pies to make a Piri Piri Pie for the Walkers Stadium to welcome Paulo to Leicester. I have had coverage in the mercury, radio Leicester and on Leicester sound and the campaign has started well but we do however need more members in the group to make this a reality. If you are on Facebook then please come and support this campaign by joining the group. The link is below so please click on it, join and spread the word. BACK THE BID Thanks for your support Ryan
Salieri Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Can this 'Piri Piri' do a job for us at right back? If so, i'll support the bid. <_<
andy_croydz Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 I heard it contained chicken and a piri piri sauce
Alexikokopops Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Seems like the perfect time to mention it's pronounced Soh-sah, not Soo-sah. HAVE THAT C-MAN!
a_kick_in_the_blogocks Posted 27 July 2010 Author Posted 27 July 2010 all a bit tomato tom-8-toe ? maybe stick them in the mix too?
Houdini Logic Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Can't see this being the best business decision they could ever make...
Babylon Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Can't see this being the best business decision they could ever make... To run a small batch it shouldn't be too expensive, plus it'd pay for itself in the free advertising. If they produced 500,000 then yes it wouldn't be the best idea.
Houdini Logic Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 To run a small batch it shouldn't be too expensive, plus it'd pay for itself in the free advertising. If they produced 500,000 then yes it wouldn't be the best idea. I must admit I haven't got a clue what is involved in making a pie, but at a guess they would need to spend time creating and trialing recipes, any new ingredients will need to be negotiated with suppliers, once complete the outcome would need to go to food technicians for analysis (even if it's not printed a company needs to know exactly what is in the pie in terms of fat, etc...), spend time adjusting equipment for a small batch run. Aside from production you would need design and marketing and other smaller back office things that people tend to overlook like creating new accounts and listings for the new product. Advertising would be the only benefit they would get out of this, though with the money invested I'm sure they can think of much better marketing ideas. Like the idea, but can't see it happening.
samjohnson Posted 28 July 2010 Posted 28 July 2010 Isn't it Peri Peri? Depends on what part of the world youre from... Or whether you like to be awkward

Mack Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 Anyone else agree the pukka pies are more like PUKEa pies? I had one once, took a bite only to find it full of baby sick!
m00nie Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 Anyone else agree the pukka pies are more like PUKEa pies? I had one once, took a bite only to find it full of baby sick! pukka pies tend to be ok if you get them first time round.. its when they dont get sold and so get re heated in microwaves later on that they get a bit pukea
DB11 Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 Anyone else agree the pukka pies are more like PUKEa pies? I had one once, took a bite only to find it full of baby sick! I disagree. I like them.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 The Balti pies are one of the main reasons I still come to games. There aren't many others, to be honest
Narborough_fox Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 I love Pukka pies but I mean £2.50 for a pie. No thanks, Sausage rolls for me
Leicester Lass Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 I can tell you it is being talked about in the factory, but not in a serious way just yet!
Jay Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 with the popularity of Nandos these days and the fact they seem to be everywhere Piri Piri Pies are probably not as far out as it may seem. although Levi Roots should have been manager because a Reggae Reggae pie would go down a treat on matchdays!!
Fox You Forest Posted 29 July 2010 Posted 29 July 2010 although Levi Roots should have been manager because a Reggae Reggae pie would go down a treat on matchdays!! You tried the Birds Eye quarter pounders?
a_kick_in_the_blogocks Posted 30 July 2010 Author Posted 30 July 2010 I can tell you it is being talked about in the factory, but not in a serious way just yet! Do you work in the factory then? What's word on the street? We are up to 700 members now. Have you seen the song on you tube? "paulos pies are good"
a_kick_in_the_blogocks Posted 31 July 2010 Author Posted 31 July 2010 Yes I think there will be a very strict manufacturing process, there has to be and it could be time consuming. I personally see this as a great way for a local company and club to engage with their fans and to not only embrace a new managers arrival but to also listen to the fans, evolve with the changes and to get the affinity between all parties back. It would show that the big corporates who dictate what we must eat at games are willing to listen, to give the fans something back and to put a smile on their faces. That is priceless. Let's try and get the campaign numbers up and see what happens. The pies the limit and all that!!! Thanks for your comments and your support.
