ts_1010 Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 Doubt this will happen tbh. For all of the reasons above and that stadium enlargements often take longer than the between seasons period. So if we did it when we got promoted then we'd lose out on revenue with no guarantee of staying up. So unless we are well and truly settles as a mid table Prem outfit i really doubt it. Even if we were in that position, we would be sacrificing a classy player or two when, as we all know, there is a constant improvement race in the premiership.
Blue Bob Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 The Tigers will be pleased, extra capacity for their semi finals!!

Second bit though, it's a short term loss for a long term game.
The Doctor Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 What's wrong with the KC? I've always thought the design was much more interesting than most modern stadiums, our own included. it's just a bowl which all most everyone seems to hate about new stadiums. Fact is though a stadium isn't designed to be great to look at and admire it's designed to hold as many people as the owners think is neccesary and the bowl design is the best for this. Take stokes ground for example, say they want to expand the capacity by 5,000 (figure just plucked from thin air) would it be easier/more efficient to keep it as 4 seperate stands and add extra rows on top of the stands or fill in the corners ,i.e. make it into a bowl, to make up the extra seats? The bowl of course, since it would be the design in which more of the capacity could be kept open during building work - after all filling in the corners you could just close a couple of columns at the end of the stands being joined together while adding rows on top, H&S would no doubt demand the entire stand closed due to "danger of injury due to falling objects" or something similar.
Simmo86 Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 I wouldn't worry about this chaps. The actual chance of this actually happening are somewhere between slim to feck all. we all know that if we were in the semis of the champs league we still wouldn't sell 42,000 tickets and when these Thais have been here a while they will too. Not to sure on that . I bet my left bollock we would
dpjfox Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 I seem to remember when the stadium was designed/built there was always an option for a second tier
Jordan Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Can someone remind our new owners that Leicester was not selected as a host city for England's World Cup bids? Thanks.
Webbo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Not to sure on that . I bet my left bollock we would Tbf the chance of us making the Champs league semis is so slim that both our bollox are quite safe.

Fact? there are plenty of stadia being built with this in mind, that are still wonderful to look at - most english grounds, like so much of english architecture, are simply made as cheap as possible with little or no attention paid to aesthetics.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 If we were in the Champions League semis we would undoubtedly sell 42,000 tickets. 30,000 of those who'd turn out now, the away fans and the remainder made up by glory hunters who 'supported' Chelsea, Manure or Liverpool before we became good. Not a chance of that happening though. To be honest, even as a top six Premiership club, I think our support would probably plateau at somewhere between 30-35,000 for most games with sellouts against the big names only.
Lillehamring Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 not saying we totally rebuild the ground but if they do extend it, i hope they make an effort to make it a bit more interesting - modern bowls can be fun and/or different: guadalajara - 49k port elizabeth, SA - 46k sydney - 41k toyota stadium - 45k

It looks like a sheer drop!
Lillehamring Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 and here's some more currently being built: gdansk juventus wroclaw
Lillehamring Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 whilst looking at these stadia i found the worlds best named stadium: wankhede stadium
Aumski Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Would imagine it'd look something like this if the Stadium ever got expanded. i was speaking to a under 14's goalkeeping coach and matt elliott and if i'm right i think i remember one of them saying that C1,C2 and SK4 roof can come off to increase the capacity, so i imagine it would look like sports direct@ st.James park?
Aumski Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Wouldn't like to be in the stand on the right of that photo. It looks like a sheer drop! i agree, but it would be a good place to stick away fans! somewhere you cant hear them, can't see them, sack the Illuminati! i mean stewards and get the atmosphere back!

When the stadium was being built it was the East Stand that was identified as being built to take an extra level.
1964FOX Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 As Davie G says I think planning permission was granted with the original plans for the potential of increasing the East stand.
ACF Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 sydney - 41k This is a really, really shit stadium to watch anything apart from Rugby Union, and even that's not very good.
Asherz Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 once we are in the premiership crowd numbers will grow ppl will go to see the likes of man city woop our asses with there international team. also i reckon this could be to hopefully have leicesters ground put in the hat for if we get the world cup in 2018 as we lost out due to our ground falling short on capacity. the matches that would be played there means extra income aswell to the thai`s and even if the thais are not running the club then but the stadium is still named after there company they will get a % of the gate cash. simple easy buissness really. if we get to premiership i`d go to watch some of the worlds best players play at our ground and i`m sure a dam whole lot of other people would aswell... simple buissness ethics really

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Wow, just imagine 42,000 boo's ringing out rather than the normal 18-22,000!
samjohnson Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Ive got a funny feeling that it will look like Pride Park... Or Sunderlands ground. Im gunna try and mock up a 3d view of what it might look like...
