I like the consortiums ambition but it's all hearsay at the mo!! I'm yet to get a full boner at what is being said, and i'm abit sceptical!!

Have you tried Viagra or Cialis? :dunno:

i'd not make expanding the stadium a priority that's for sure. we need a decent squad first, one that can reach and stay in the prem. then there's debts to pay off. training facitilies and the academy. then if the KP Stadium starts selling out week in week out like...it's never done before...then it'd be quite sweet. would be nice to have a stadium that isn't exactly the same as St Mary's et al...

In that case they should start a campaign to ensure that any increase should include plans for it to be adaptable for safe standing, as I understand it, even if it was allowed the current building design could not be adapted without considerable cost.

Looks like we have five years to lobby the club and realisticly have a standing section of 500-1000 people. This would not impact on overall capacity revenue as realisticly we would get no where near 42,000 attending except for the big matches even in the premiership. It may even be possible within this time frame to raise funds for the extra costs for safe seating so the club only pays out the normal price. A bit of a dream as Fosse Boy said but you have to try. It's one for the Fosse Boys admin section to take forward.

wern't Portsmouth planning a new stadium not long ago?

They did, I think they got a bit beyond themselves, lets hope we're not following in their footsteps - the current noises being made re signings, stadium etc sound frighteningly familiar,

Apparently you're right according to this report by the FLA, not quite sure I take their word for it though...

Simple, build a standing section at the front of the Kop  if it needs a more gentle slope then it can be brought closer to the pitch at a different angle from the current seats

It could be that the new owners just wants to stake out their claim for this club's future by talking to the media, and news travel fast. For us to even consider expanding the stadium we need to be in PL. However, ambition is good, and if they can back up all the talk with the real walk - I am all for it. Leicester is what, UK's 8th biggest city? The potential's there for sure, it all depends on how successful we will be on the field, and ultimately it will be down to the financial situation in the eastern part of the world.

Europe and USA had a decline in the economy for the last couple of years, while the optimism and arrows are not pointing downwards in the east like Thailand, Japan, China and Malaysia.

Exciting times, but I am getting so old now I have stopped holding my breath. I can barely hold in my beer belly in a timely manner - and it is not the moment for either now.

Surprise me Top! Surprise me!

actually it will increase in size but stay at 32500, the reasoning behind this is increasing obesity in the populati :giggle: on

The economy in Japan is buggered. It's struggling as badly as the USA and Europe, especially as it depends on exporting, which means its being hurt by the strong value of the yen. There was an article on the Beebs website about it earlier in the week.

Economies like Thailand and China are doing better though, it's the emerging countries that are dealing better with the current global financial crisis. India is doing pretty well too.

Sorry to be pedantic :P

Back on topic, the only time and reason to expand the stadium will be if we reach the prem. We all know fully well that there are plenty of fickle feckers in Leicester who won't come to watch City, but will jump on the bandwagon the moment they get the inkling that we are 'successful' now. Not to mention all the bloody Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Man City 'fans' that live in the city who will buy tickets in the home end to show their 'support' for the teams that they've been following so avidly on Sky Sports.

I reckon for some reason they will expand the East Stand if the 42,000 seating idea is going to happen in future. This is because i guess the East and the main stand combine 20,000 seats (10,000 each approx) whilst the other two are 6,000 (Kop and Family stand) So assuming the East stand will be extended (doubt the main stand will be with the boxes etc) to make up for the 42,000, the capacity of this stand will be extended to 20,000 if it happened when we will reach the top league. :dunno:

And the people who live a good few hours away who have to pick and choose their games because it costs about £40 by train to get to Leicester, who might be slightly more enticed by Premiership football, allowing them to ignore the fact that the Walkers is a soulless, vacuous hole.

I wasn't really alluding to foxiles 'kokopops, I wouldn't question the commitment of anyone willing to shell out £40 on train tickets just to get to a match, and who follow every game they can on TV radio etc. My ire was being more directed in the general direction of people from Leicester itself who don't bother coming to games, but can often be seen jumping all over a 'glamour' fixture or a £5 Merc deal, and spend the duration of the match whinging, then asking where Hume and Gradel are.

We all know someone who doesn't really give a toss, but will feign interest in the club when it suits them. These are the plastic fans I'd rather not see the Walkers flooded with, particularly if it stops dedicated fans from being able to get tickets. Which I suppose is an argument in favour of a stadium expansion. Bugger it, I've contradicted myself again.

Well they must want the club to go places.

Though I can hear the chant now 'here there fooking everywhere empty seats!'

You mean the chant that is already sung by many teams?

This work takes place and the horrible ticket prices increase further then the may aswell do a remix replacing seats with stands.

Would make it worse if anything wouldn't it?

I imagine it would look like Hull's shitbox no? With the east being the one stand which has got an extra tier and the raised roof.

kc_stadium_hull_empty_400x300.jpg

Means the acoustics in L/K would definitely be worse so probaly the atmosphere overall unless we somewhere find 10,000 extra fanatical cvnts to fill the top tier.

Would imagine it'd look something like this if the Stadium ever got expanded.

I wouldn't worry about this chaps. The actual chance of this actually happening are somewhere between slim to feck all. we all know that if we were in the semis of the champs league we still wouldn't sell 42,000 tickets and when these Thais have been here a while they will too.

I dunno really, would it still have the bowl shape afterwards or would one side be bigger than the other? I'd love a proper Kop end that stretches back for about 100 rows. Like West Ham or Liverpool, somewhere everyone wants to sit.

Sorry, my original post wasn't meant to sound as angry as it probably did. I was just giving myself my own group

Don't both of West Ham's ends have 2 tiers? :dunno:

Fair enough mate, but while you were at it with pedantics you could have stopped me from claiming Leicester was the 8th biggest citiy. :giggle:

According to 3 sources Leicester is somewhere between 11th and 22nd largest city.

http://www.citymayors.com/gratis/uk_topcities.html

Where I got this notion Leicester is a top 10 city? Who fooled the H? A cab driver once claimed Leicester had a population of about 500 000. Is this a "Greater Leicester area" number? Sorry to go off topic, but stadium sizes should respond to imminent population.

What's wrong with the KC? I've always thought the design was much more interesting than most modern stadiums, our own included.

Anti Hull sentiment has yet to subside.

Joking apart, I see little point in extending. We aren't going to be anywhere near filling it unless we become a regular top 10 Premiership side, and even then probably only 2 or 3 times a season when the part-timers roll up for the visit of the Big Four ©.

Surely if the money is available it would be better spent on upgrading the stadium's facilities to make it suitable for music concerts like the Ricoh, as this would bring in far more money. An empty tier on top of the East Stand would absolutely destroy what little atmosphere there is.
