I've tried to be positive about the going ons over the summer but with every game that passes It's dithering.

Bert has indirectly said the new owners didn't want NP and wanted Sousa as he was more of a household name.

Pearson had a proven track record with us and was the best thing to happen to this club since MON. We always progressed under Pearson. We finally had a manger who was moulding his own team and had lasted longer than one season in the job.

We had stability, the fans were all in unison behind Pearson, one of the brightest English managers. We were seeing very astute signings, great loan deals all done with little money. Pearson and his backroom team are the only reason why we are where we are and deserved the money more than anyone. I've no doubt that if he had the kitty we'd be promoted this season.

New owners come along, think it's some sort of toy. Get rid of the manager because he's not got a few cl medals in his cabinet. Come out with silly statements like we will be in the prem next season. Start branding figures about, expanding the stadium etc I think they've been totally naive as their probably used to buying their way through this world. Unfortunately they will learn the hard way and whilst their at it fook over the loyal fans and destroy a small part of what could've been a successful period.

Are team has no stability, no loyalty to players with all this talk of new signings. Everything seems very disorganised and Sousa is a media whore. I'd do anything to have our "dour" NP back.

I'm totally disillusioned with the club at the moment. It's an absolute shambles if you think about it and I think many fans deluded themselves to better things but deep down know Pearson was the best thing that had happened to us in recent years.

Hopefully this thread comes back and bites me in the arse but I very much doubt it.

Totally agree with most of this point. You don't change a manager while you are on the up it is the most stupid thing possible. We were so close last season all we needed was to keep Pearson & try & strangthen just a little bit & we would be thereabouts again.

Now we have to start from square one so we have wasted 2 years.

100% agree with this. The worst thing is that everything was also swept under the carpet with regards to Pearson and the fans have had the wool pulled over their eyes by a supposed fan power victory in keeping the Birch.

I wrote in the take over thread I feel less and less connected with the club.

Agree with every word Edmund. Honestly couldn't have put it better myself. Usually I'm quite a positive person with regards to City but I haven't looked forward to any game yet this season and that's wrong.

The whole summer has left a bitter taste in the mouth. It's not right to be questioning whether Sousa is the right man for the job yet, but we already had him and discarded him like a piece of shit.

There was something reassuring about Pearson, granted we had our bad performances last season but I always felt that we would do enough to recover from a poor result.

Now Sousa has my full backing, I'm not going to demand his sacking after three games (teams have started slowly and still gone on to have a good season) and I'm desperately hoping we'll turn it around, but I really don't know.

I agree too. Can't really look back now though, time to get behind PS, hope for some decent acquisitions in the next 10 days, and give the manager and owners a bit of time.

I'd be lying if I said I was confident for the season ahead though.

But it is not knee jerk though. I bet that you like me have felt like this for the whole summer. It has just taken a poor start to the season to come out and say it.

PS should have the backing of the fans as it is too early to say what will happen one way or the other but seriously would we have capitulated without a whimper last season as that is what it sounded like today. I turned off on 70 minutes as it was too depressing to listen to.

For me still too early to say how this season will go. After the Middlesboro game many on here were waxing lyrical about our play

Swansea had a bad start to last season and came good. Surely we'll all have a better idea after 10 or 12 games

Interesting though to hear contradiction between analysis of Sousa "we were better team in first half/ we controlled first half" and Young "we were poor throughout"

One of the things I liked about Pearson is that if we played poorly he said so. Hope Sousa recognises a poor performance so he knows what to put right.

A couple of encouraging performances in pre-season had me optimistic but that's all gone now. The solid defence that got us so far last season has completely imploded, Fryatt appears to have shagged Sousa's missus and we're bottom of the league, albeit after only three games. We desperately need something and quickly. The reported £10 million needs spending all over the field, from defence to attack as we have absolutely no strength in depth. We need more pace, more guile and more passing ability in the middle of the field. The XI Sousa put out today would be the kind of XI Pearson would have put out only for a meaningless Carling Cup against a lower league side, yet that was the team chosen to take on a club that beat Manchester United almost exactly a year ago. I despair.

I was gutted when Pearson left but honestly felt that Sousa was the best appointment we could have made. He could still turn out to be a good appointment, after all, Forest were in a not dissimilar position this time last year and if they'd made the appointments that Davies clearly wanted in January, I'm certain they'd be a Premiership club now. Probably have been raped by Arsenal today but still a Premiership club. But we also need to recognise the talents that are here already. Fryatt must play ahead of Howard, end of. Dyer or Oakley? No contest. Gallagher would also be a much better pick than N'Guessan on his current form.

I think Pearson going was more to do with his stalling on his contract and MM calling his bluff. I'm not sure Paulo Sousa is the household name that everybody says he is.

Having said that I'd feel a lot more confident with Pearson in charge.

Dyer has been our best player so far and he was also out today, though most seem to focus on Fryatt who has not really got going so far this season.

We all need to wait and see what goes on between now and the transfer deadline closure.

Our squad is 2 quality experienced players short of a top 6 finish in my opinion, and Pearson arguably over achieved using a negative system last season.

Hopefully Sousa will quickly realize that the hoof up to Howard for Campbell etc to feed off will not work and move to style with more width.
