richardsfoxes Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Ok, was driving along the A14 at around 90 MPH. Saw a police car on the bridge, parked, there was no one outside the car from what i saw, is there any chance i would of been caught on a inside camera inside the car or w/e?
AoWW Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Hate to say it but, yes, it's quite possible you were still caught on camera. Gonna be one of those occasions where you just have to sit and wait with your fingers crossed, I'm afraid.
richardsfoxes Posted 11 September 2010 Author Posted 11 September 2010 Im not sure, tbh all i saw was something black and im sure that was the person inside the vehicle.
StanSP Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 If you don't get a letter within 2 or 3 weeks, I'd presume you weren't caught.
Thracian Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 There was a bloke not so long back fitted his Roller with a Merlin engine and left a police patrol car standing! About 240ph I think they said he was doing when he passed under the next bridge... I'm not sure it's so easy to record the evidence at that speed. Anyway I have friends with spare aircraft engines if you want to make some adjustments. Can't imagine they'd even have noticed you at 90. Whenever I drive at that speed I'm find myself being overtaken like I'm driving a Kirby & West milk float. Anyway I read today that there are still lots of people driving on the road with more points than a Eurovision Song Contest winner.

I would not worry at all if I were you.
Wycombe Fox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 http://www.i-database.co.uk/ Have a look on the above. It records any outstanding speeding tickets, even ones for which you haven't yet been notified.

AoWW Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 To be honest, I was thinking that 34.6mph in a 30 was really quite reasonable and that I must have been stuck behind someone.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 14 days is the cut off point as far as I know. If you were doing 90 then you'll have to take the points, you will be too far over the limit to be offered a speed and safety course unfortunately.
jonthefox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Apparently i was done doing 81.2 mph in derby. its not the speed that shocked me, its the town.

Should probably win some kind of end-of-seasn award though...
MikeyT Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 I got caught on a speed cam about 9 months ago. I was doing 61mph in a 50mph area near Birmingham. Annoying as the road is usually 60mph but there were roadworks with temporary signs saying 50mph. I was a dick. Anyhoo, i got 3 points and a £60 fine. Wasn't given the choice of one of those courses.
lildave3 Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010  IOWfox has had me there! Probably should have read the rest of the thread.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 11 September 2010 Posted 11 September 2010 Does anyone ever actually go the speed limit? Its one thing in built up areas during the daytime but otherwise, fook it. .

Guest DavidJCW Posted 12 September 2010 Posted 12 September 2010 Said I was caught speeding here in Leicester on Sept 6th... funny that considering I was in Belgium at that time with my car.
MikeyT Posted 12 September 2010 Posted 12 September 2010 Said I was caught speeding here in Leicester on Sept 6th... funny that considering I was in Belgium at that time with my car. Same, although it said September 5th for me. About shat myself. I was doing 81.2mph in a 70mph area. haha
Benji Posted 12 September 2010 Posted 12 September 2010 I've used the A14 about 4 times a week for the past year leicester to cambridge and from what I've experienced: -There are 2 fixed cameras east bound: j8 (under a bridge) and j15 (I think it's 15) both have huge signs just before though. - There is 1 fixed camera west bound: j9 (under a bridge) again with huge signs just before. The only areas I've ever seen the mobile vans are on one of two bridges, and that's between the j15 camera and the A14 huntingdown roundabout. Usually it's one of two bridges, there's one where a pub sits next to it with "FOX FOOD" or something written in white on the roof and another further down. I'm pretty sure though it has to be one of those big people carrier type vans with the blacked out square window half way down the side. So I think you originally wrote it wasn't one of these so presume you will be ok? (I got sidetracked by Isle of Wights corker ) A few times I've seen police cars hiding away in verges or behind bushes in lay-bys and sat there for 3 weeks waiting for a letter, turns out they were probably just sitting down having lunch. The difference is between j15 and huntingdon there are speed camera signs, which are your warning of the ones on the bridges, although they still need be visible. So basically, if it was me I wouldn't worry unless it was a massive van with the black window, on your side of the road on a bridge between 15 and huntingdon. I could obviously be wrong and all the above is just what I've come across over the last year, so don't use it to speed inbetween!
