blue blood Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 17 years later Portsmouth 6-1 Leicester. Obviously correct me if im wrong. I never got over or forgot that 7-1 and fear it will be the same for this 6-1
reynard Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 On a positive note wasn't the last time we lost 6-1 also the last time we got promoted to the premier league. (away to Ipswich I think). Yep let's all clutch at straws!
turkish14 Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 we lost to ipswich 6.1 in 02/03 and still got promoted
blue blood Posted 24 September 2010 Author Posted 24 September 2010 yeah thats right i knew there was another heavy defeat inbetween,
Nationwider Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Re: Newcastle That Mags side were runaway champions, and we'd already claimed a play-off berth. It was an irrelevant match.
Leicester_Mad Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 theres been a few heavy defeats - Leicester 0-5 Bolton the one i remember most. Was the 7-1 against Newcastle at Filbert Street?
Webbo Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Was the 7-1 against Newcastle at Filbert Street? No.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Its alright trying to be positive about the big defeat and comparing them to others, but the others mentioned (Newcastle 7-1, Ipswich 6-1, Forest 5-1) all came in good seasons and twere against good teams. The same cant be said for this, Pompey had barely scored any before today, and we concede 6. Shocking really.
Leicester_Mad Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 No. Did we get dicked by them at our place as well that season? Remember around that time my Dad took my sister to her first Leicester game and the fans were ripping the seats out and everything....
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Blackpool had a beginning like this....... look where they are now!

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Blackpool had a beginning like this....... look where they are now! Blackpool had 13 points out of their first 8 games and were 7th. I agree, very similar.
blue blood Posted 24 September 2010 Author Posted 24 September 2010 Its was on ITV aswell! Awful game. I remember <_< I think Jimmy Greaves was the presenter.....he was a nob too, never had a good word to say about us. We were 6-0 down at half time that day.

Earlydoorsjones Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Does anyone remember a 7 - 1 drubbing away to Sheffield Wednesday? Was Russell Hoult in goal? I had supressed that result deep within the lower layers of my subconscious...until tonight. After 70 minutes, James - my mate - and I stopped talking to each other and painful memories of yester year came flooding back. I actually started talking to the wife at one point but all I could come up with was that one of the Pompey players had the same last name as a fashion designer. I thought I would bring her into the conversation a bit, seeing as my compadre was on the floor clutching his knees. Fooking sort it out...anyone!
Callabinho Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 We also got promoted the season following the last world cup the be held outside of europe in Korea and pompey were the champions..... We were in the championship (then devision one) with portsmouth during that season, and here we are again following a world cup outside of europe.......Hmmmm
Ultra Posted 24 September 2010 Posted 24 September 2010 Did we get dicked by them at our place as well that season? Remember around that time my Dad took my sister to her first Leicester game and the fans were ripping the seats out and everything.... The season before - 91-92.
