FSF Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Slightly provocative thread title, but still, interesting findings about fans' views on gays in the game: http://www.fsf.org.uk/news/fans-dispel-homophobic-stereotype.php Is the game ready for players to come out?
davieG Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 One could ask why do they need to I'm not particularly interested in the personal lives of any footballers what ever that may consist of.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I wouldn't have a problem with it at all and see it as a total non-issue.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 You'd have to be one hell of a bigoted ****ing moronic, buffonery coontard to actually dislike a footballer for being gay.
FSF Posted 29 September 2010 Author Posted 29 September 2010 You'd have to be one hell of a bigoted ****ing moronic, buffonery coontard to actually dislike a footballer for being gay. So the answer's no, then? Be surprised at how many of them there are around, especially if a player came out.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 So the answer's no, then? Be surprised at how many of them there are around, especially if a player came out. Yes, unfortunately it's a no. As I think many on here will have experienced, there are so many right-wing, bigoted, narrow minded retards that attend football matches it is untrue. And you know what? I don't think we'll ever see a time when a footballer can come out and be accepted, which is the worst thing about it. Because narrow minded bigots breed narrow minded bigots.
Houdini Logic Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Hate/Dislike them - No Provide amusing subject for songs - Yes
StanSP Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 A footballer's sexuality shouldn't determine the fact whether the sport is ready for them or not. If they're gay, then what does it matter? They shouldn't be judged on their sexuality; they should be judged on their footballing talent. Sexuality shouldn't come in to it one bit.

As long as they don't try to have sex with the ball
StanSP Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 As long as they don't try to have sex with the ball Thought that went without saying
Houdini Logic Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Thought that went without saying Obviously you don't work with the same 'non homophobic' people I do. So far I've learnt that gay people try to hit on anyone of their own sex regardless of orientation, looks or age, and they also try to have sex with inanimate objects.
sdb Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 i'd have massive respect for anyone who came out. easier said than done i guess.
Jimothy Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Was reading an interview with Darren Purse in The Guardian about this on Saturday. Link
FoxyPV Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 Good interview with Purse. I think it's a non issue and has no impact on his playing ability however it may be seen as disruptive to the dressing room due to other players' homophobia. You forgot to put "them" before gays in your title.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I DONT WANT NO QUEERS IN THE GAME.
Nick Posted 29 September 2010 Posted 29 September 2010 I DONT WANT NO QUEERS IN THE GAME. I've got my eye on you, 'Sweet Cheeks'. N x
Houdini Logic Posted 30 September 2010 Posted 30 September 2010 I DONT WANT NO QUEERS IN THE GAME. So you want everyone in the game to be gay? Fair enough
skinnydipper Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 One could ask why do they need to I'm not particularly interested in the personal lives of any footballers what ever that may consist of. Guest Bilo Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Nor me generally but when I read about Rooney shagging that Gran it made me cough up my breakfast sausage Oooh err missus, is that what they call it nowadays? And other tried and tested stereotypes.
skinnydipper Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Oooh err missus, is that what they call it nowadays? And other tried and tested stereotypes. Are you suggesting that my breakfast platter included Spam javelin, Beef bayonet and some Lamb lance? - a real mixed grill
Guest Bilo Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Are you suggesting that my breakfast platter included Spam javelin, Beef bayonet and some Lamb lance? - a real mixed grill Word of advice matey. Don't eat the mayo.
skinnydipper Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Word of advice matey. Don't eat the mayo. I'll take your advice but it's the Daddy's Sauce and the Gentleman's Relish that I'm truly worried about.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 I'll take your advice but it's the Daddy's Sauce and the Gentleman's Relish that I'm truly worried about. Lizzie Fritzl swears by it.
