What the hell is wrong with you?

Proof if ever it was needed that, if it isn't ripped straight from an animal, the Scots have absolutely no idea about food.

How wrong can you be.The deep fried mars bar!!! The french must be jealous to death for that culinary delight!!!

i assume you're talking about haggis but we know other things. Stovies (meat, potato and veg stew), Abernethy biscuits (greatest biscuits ever), shortbread, scotch pancakes and of course tablet: a brilliant sweet: the recipe i have involves 125g of butter, 400 grams of condensed milk, 1 cup full-cream milk, 1kg sugar - makes a fudge like sweet that will absolutely destroy your teeth but tastes brilliant.

pan au chocolat is horrible, regardless of where from. Even the french can't make their terrible culinary invention well.

-10

Chocolate (preferrably dark) + pastry + loads of butter = Unbeatable

Almost anything with chocolate in it is amazing, even more so if it's dark chocolate.

no. it's just out a scottish cookbook.

Recipe.

125g salted butter

1kg Granulated sugar

1 cup full cream milk

400g tin of condensed milk.

melt butter in a large, heavy bottomed saucepan over a low heat. Add sugar and milk and keep stirring to sugar has dissolved. Add condensed milk, turn heat up a little and bring to boil slowly. After the mixture starts to boil, turn heat down a little and allow to simmer for about 20 minutes. After 18 minutes of simmering test hardness by dropping a little bit of the mixture from a spoon into a bowl of cold water, If it turns into a soft ball you can pick up between your fingers then remove from heat. Mixture should also be slightly dark.

Take off heat and beat thoroughly for 3 to 5 minutes ( don't beat for longer or it will start to crystalise). Pour into a shallow baking tray, score it into fingers and place in fridge to cool (takes about 2 hours to cool)

it specifies salted butter but you just need butter with a strong flavour so if you can find a strong flavoured unsalted butter then yes. but if you're on a diet, should you really be eating something made using a kilogram of sugar?

quick point. When beating it at the end the mixture can be very tough - i'd recommend using a food processer.
