Jimmy2Drags Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 We've not had a decent keeper for years & in an Ideal world I wouldn't want any of the jokers we've got at the minute in goal. Ikeme should be shot - like a lame race horse, Logan's a fat crap twat & Weale spent almost his whole career on the bench & we're slowly finding out why. All 3 are poor at best. Every player in this division must fancy cracking in a 35 yarder against us cos none of our keepers can stop long-rangers. All 3 have no command over the defense, have poor kicking, struggle with crosses & even the most basic of goalkeeping skills....shot stopping (getting in the way!) seems to have eluded all but 1 of the above 'goal-keepers'. So in conclusion, only 1 of the 3 keepers we have (Weale) has ANY of the basic key requirements of a goalie and that's getting in the way. Piss poor show guys. January is gonna a vital time for us as that's when we need to sort this shit out. I for one would like to see the Huddersfield lad Alex Smithies brought in. He's a cracking keeper & is only gonna get better with age (in the same mold as Joe Hart).
Mack Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Weale is perfectly fine in my opinion. Granted he wont pull up any trees, but he will do a good job. We do need a decent keeper to complete with him for the spot in the team, and I am sure Sven has one or two in mind.

conradno1 Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 i think weale is just fine but i also cant see us bringing in a keeper from a lower division as were looking for "big name sighnings"
Jimmy2Drags Posted 27 October 2010 Author Posted 27 October 2010 Weale is just the best of a bad bunch. That don't make him good, just not as bad as the other 2.
jonw88 Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 We need to get someone in who is good NOW, not someone who's up and coming because they will still be error-prone. An experienced premier league backup keeper on loan along the lines of Kirkland, Hennessey, Nash etc. is vital to provide good competition for Weale, who must be feeling like his confidence has dropped since being injured and out of the team and hardly on the form he had last season. Ikeme looks like he'll fook off back to Wolves, and Logan needs to pack his bags, enough is enough from him.

Ziggy1990 Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 agreed we've not had a decent, long term GK since.....well, you could argue Ian Walker? Thought Weale was one of the outstanding players last season, but its just not happening for me this time round (injury noted) ....think we are desperate for a keeper who can not only command his area, but most importantly is consistant Surely this is on Sven's agenda for January.................
Roy Cropper Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Weale is just the best of a bad bunch. That don't make him good, just not as bad as the other 2. Agreed. And it doesn't help that he has no serious competition.

Ric Flair Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Experienced. We need someone who has a knack of organising a defence. It would be lovely to have a young goalie who is going to be a world beater, but that's a luxury that we cannot afford right now. Stuart Taylor is at Man City doing naff all, he is a decent keeper but his kicking let's him down. Everything else is good enough to help us out. Carlo Nash is doing nothing at Stoke, he's 37 and is probably in his last year or two but he might be able to help us out Carlo Cudicini it's a long shot but if we could convince Spurs that they have enough cover with that lad they've got from Spartak Moscow and give Carlo plenty of incentives then we'd have a goalie that would be good enough for a few years at least. Or we splash out a few million on Lee Camp, Scott Loach or Julian Speroni
conradno1 Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Or we splash out a few million on Lee Camp, Scott Loach or Julian Speroni would love speroni shame we missed out out on kenny and fulop really as they would have been ideal
Jimmy2Drags Posted 27 October 2010 Author Posted 27 October 2010 Ronaldo cant defend to save his life (fair point he may not need to but all wingers need to get back at times) We don't ask any of the keepers to score goals or run the midfield....just keep goal. Madrid didn't sign Ronaldo to help keep clean sheets, same as we don't expect Waghorn to save penalties.
Bugg Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 id like to see that yank cant remember his name at wolves now 2nd choice and played for reading He's their first choice keeper actually. But I would like to see Hennesey get signed by us.

SMX11 Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Smithies would make sense with Faz being at Huddesfield recently. These are the kind people that would improve us imo: David Stockdale Scott Loach Kieran Westwood Mark Bunn Alex Smithies Wayne Hennessey Tim Krul Fraser Forster Unfortunately they are going to cost considerable money and probably some of them wouldn't want to come/ club wouldn't want to let the go.

I wasn't that impressed with him when we had him on loan. I think Westwood is a good shout, though his pre match thing on the pitch he does is very strange. I also don't think Weale is that bad but he just seems to lose concentration in patches of the game. I agree that he was one of our stand out players in the last two years but has just gone off the boil recently.
bruno14 Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 I think we go with Ikeme if wolves will let us, alternatively i've been watching this guy -----http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J23h3VLUM6I------ from the belgian first division. He really commands his area; you'd never see him turn his tail and run. I just think he needs to brush up on his communication, to be the complete package.
ithuriel Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Weale is a good keeper but he has no real competition at the club, logan and captain calamity from wolves just do not cut it unfortunately.
JoeyB Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 So last year everyone was saying Weale was the best keeper we had since walker, and now people have turned there opinion round after a few dodgey games.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Weale will be fine given a run in the first team - his infrequent appearances this season can't have helped, but I think that even without Logan's gaff last night he would be back between the stick against preston.

Pretty sure he's Newcastle's first choice now that Harper is out with long term-injury. And it will just be our kind of luck to get someone as good as Hennessy or Westwood and the parent team's keeper gets injured so the loanee has to go back. Then we're back with Conrad fucking Logan.
milsey Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Good choice for me would be Brad Guzan at villa. Never seen him have a bad game!!!!!!
