So what's the protocol when losing a wallet?

Literally turned the house upside down for it and can't find it anywhere. It's driving me mad. I've traced my footsteps when I last had it and everything.

It's been 2 days since I seen it, my bank balance is the same as it was then so nobody has gone on a bender with it which leads me to think it's still in my house.

I need to send off for my provisional but you need your NI Card don't you? I know the number but I don't have the card, will that matter at all? I need my provisional before the 16th of Dec and if I send off for a replacement now it's going to be well tight for when it arrives.

its in the house somewhere mate. i found my keys in a pushchair today! im pretty sure theres a number if you google it where you can send off for a new NI card. i cant remember sending off my NI number to the DVLA..

but if you cant find it by sat or sunday just cancel your cards and everything. and buy a wallet with a chain!

are you talking about a provisional drivers licence? - you don't need the card for that, just the number as far as i remember (did my application back in june).

Yeah provisional driving licence, need to send off for it so I've got ID for Christmas dos and whatnot. I should have got it ages ago but I was too tight to part with £50. Now I actively want to do it and my bloody wallet goes missing! Typical.

You been to any shops/buildings where it might have slipped out? Could be some good citizens around who have handed it back in to reception? If you have been to any place, might be worth going back there just to enquire.

The last time I seen it was when I was at the chippy after work on Tuesday night, I rang them earlier and I hadn't left it there. So it's either slipped out on my way home or it's in my house somewhere. I know as soon as I cancel all my cards it's gonna reappear just to piss me off.

You never need your NI card, it isn't a form of ID it's just so you have something lasting with your NI number on it.

As long as you know it you're fine. If you're that fussed you could probably phone HMR&C or whoever and get sent another if you quote the number.

One more question on the provisional thing, will they sign the picture for me in the Post Office? I don't know a policeman or a librarian or anything.

Surely they don't expect everyone to have known someone for 2 years who's in a high profession? I don't wanna go up town to get this sorted for them to turn me away

It doesn't need to be counter signed, unless you don't have a passport, does it?

When I got my passport I had an old one from when I was 10 with me and they sent that off so I didn't need it countersigned. Basically, the fact I'd been registered for one before was enough.

Just go on the DVLA website and have a look about, I'm sure you can find out what you need to replace a driver's licence.

It has to be perfectly common and I'm sure it involves no way near the amount of fuss as getting your first one. No disrespect, but stop relying on people on Foxes Talk and go and check some actual official sources before you have a panic.

Lost my wallet the other week wasnt bothered about the money its the NUS card, rail card and bank cards that did my head in. Oh and my Ladbrokes card wasnt far off a £50 free bet. Rang the bank up cancelled the cards they sent new ones within about a week.

Ill never use a wallet again because if you lose it, you lose everything.

if / when you find it , replace it with a brightly coloured wallet , I was always losing mine , down backs of chairs etc and found that once i had a brightly coloured one it was so much easier to find
