Up until his injury last year he was among the top scorers in the division and on course for another glut. He clearly has the class at this level. For a number of reasons he hasn't performed this season. But look at the other so-called strikers in the club and their record so far, including Vassell, who you'd expect to contribute with a few goals & assists even though he's played on the wing. None has a record to compare with Fryatt's. The obvious conclusion is this - unless we bring in a new strker who actually scores goals for us then the best alternative is to try to rehabilitate Fryatt.

He clearly has the class at this level. 7 of Fryatt's 11 league goals last season came in the first 8 matches of the campaign. In the next 20 games he scored 4 times. An alternative conclusion to draw is that he was not on course for another glut at all, but had ridden his League One form early in the season only to see Championship managers work out pretty quickly how to shut him down.

To get promotion you need to consistently score goals and win games (obvious I know) and with our current strikeforce, it ain't happening. Fryatt, Howard & Waghorn, those are our main strikeforce (I appreciate that Gally and Vassell could be included but Sven seems content to have them on the wings) And neither of those 3 are that key consistent goal-scoring striker we need to gain us promotion, Fratt & Howard have served us well but if we are serious about promotion then we need to get rid, Waghorn at the minute is still young so I'm willing to give him more time (probably next season at least as the other 2 had at least a 2 season run before this one when I've decided to get rid) to see if he shows improvement. So that puts me firmly in the "out" camp.
