TheUltimateWinner Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Fryatt in the frame for readingAssistant manager Nigel Gibbs is confident Reading will challenge for promotion over the Christmas period – with or without new players. As exclusively revealed in Wednesday’s Reading Post, reports linking Royals with Stoke City striker Eidur Gudjohnsen are wide of the mark. However, getreading understands Royals manager Brian McDermott is closely monitoring out-of-favour Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt – who is also wanted by financially troubled Hull City. Any deal, though, could hinge on whether Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is successful in signing Ishmael Miller or Roman Bednar from West Brom. Royals have also been linked with a move for Bednar. Gibbs declined to comment on speculation, but said: “If anyone becomes available and we can get them then we will act. We’ve got a good bunch of players and we would like a few more to improve our strength in depth. “But if it doesn’t happen we’re okay and we’ll go with what we’ve got.” http://www.getbracknell.co.uk/sport/football/readingfc/s/2082546_fryatt_in_the_frame_for_reading_fc
darko2k7 Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I was a big Matty fan but now I don't think I would be to fussed if he went, his hunger to play for the club seems to have weakened . Plus now we have other strikers in the squad as good as him so won't be missed , I'm really excited about the Roman Bednar rumour, he would fill the target man role needed in team to a tea

Daggers Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 He's no good to anyone sitting around doing nothing.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 He's no good to anyone sitting around doing nothing. Indeed, he should occupy himself with books and other literature.
DanTheFox07 Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 everyone fooking moan`s about fryatt but Vassell isn`t exactly setting the world on fire and howard has missed his pen and all of you would like to see him sold! so fickle some of you lot, quick to praise him when he banged in 15 goals and then quick to hammer the guy no he is down! gonna have a great season if we stick with vassell upfront!
lcfc_jme Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 The defeat wasn't Fryatt's fault because the damage was done before he got on but as I said in the match thread, I remember him having 1 touch in 14 minutes - a dreadful attempt at shoulder-control. Not nearly good enough for the length of time he was on the field.
Daggers Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Indeed, he should occupy himself with books and other literature. Football died when players stopped occupying their time with snooker. That, my friend, is a mother****ingfact.
BoneDog Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 So, how much would we be expecting to get for Fryatt if this is true?

Kitchandro Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Sorry but he aint been given a proper chance this seasonn. Can't say he deserves to start yet but he should be coming on earlier than 10 minutes from the fooking end. He's a goalscorer - give him service and he'll score. Can't judge him when he's rotting on the bench.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 So, how much would we be expecting to get for Fryatt if this is true? I'd be surprised if it was much more than a million.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 The defeat wasn't Fryatt's fault because the damage was done before he got on but as I said in the match thread, I remember him having 1 touch in 14 minutes - a dreadful attempt at shoulder-control. Not nearly good enough for the length of time he was on the field. Fryatt had no great impact when he came on, and taking Howard off was undoubtedly a mistake (I don't see why he couldn't have brought a more defensive minded player off). But to say that his one contribution was a piece of poor control is misleading to those who weren't there. He ran the channels well, forcing at least 2 corners (fat lot of use they are!) and did as well as could be expected from the predictably poor service he received. That you'd lay into Fryatt - when Waghorn missed a (difficult) open goal and on one occasion demonstrated how one footed he was by cutting back on to his left from the by-line when he could have crossed on his right, and then proceding to run 30 yards backwards to work some space to kick it with his left - speaks volumes for the current anti-Fryatt bandwagon. But to conclude, Fryatt was shit again yesterday: just not as shit as you're making out.
Tilley Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 He isn't getting his chance because he doesn't deserve it. If you're behind Steve Howard in the pecking order, I'd not only be questioning my footballing ability but I'd be questioning my existence. He's gash. Hull, Reading or Hinckley United, someone just take him off us.
broughtonblue Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 when we were relegated he didnt get a descent run in the side under holloway, pearson showed faith in him and he had a brilliant season scoring regurlary because he was playing regurlary when we were champions, then last year up until his shoulder injury he was still on fire. this year he has been playing bits here and there. give him a descent run and we will all be raving about him again. strikers thrive on confidence so play him
Criggers Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 I'd say Sven knows what he is doing. If Fryatt isn't starting it is for a very good reason I am sure. Stop with the "he should be given a chance" bollocks. The only person who can make that decision is Sven and he obviously doesn't feel he deserves a starting place yet. Also, all the talk about him being crap under Holloway and then Pearson had faith and in him and gave him a shot in the team. Yes that is true, he got a good run under NP and banged a few goals in, but he doesn't exactly seem keen to play for us since NP left. We could have Nicolas Anelka at the club but if he went into "le sulk" mode because he didnt want to play, we would still be better off playing Stevie Howard up front. He's obviously not up for fighting for his place anymore so he can clear off to somewhere a little "easier" for him if he likes. And as much as some of the fans love him (and i still appreciate his time here) I reckon the owners and Sven have higher ambitions than keeping someone like Matty Fryatt happy.
Bausor Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 looks overweight and slow to me better stay off those mince pies over the festive period.. !!! Seriously send him off to reading get him match fit and scoring goals then bring him back after jan.. If that doesnt work then reading will be playing a useless striker and jepodising there playoff spot which will suit us.
colbo68 Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 http://www.getbracknell.co.uk/sport/football/readingfc/s/2082546_fryatt_in_the_frame_for_reading_fc Good League 1 striker, not good enough for the Championship - in my opinion

If that doesnt work then reading will be playing a useless striker and jepodising there playoff spot which will suit us. I couldn't agree more. He looks like the slow, lazy, overweight, unfit and uninterested Fryatt of the past. Can't believe we didn't sell him for a couple of million when we had the chance. Yet again, we only waste our millions on Waghorn and Gallagher anyway.
Corky Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Fryatt will be off in January. Sven doesn't seem to have that much faith in him, for whatever reason. He sees him far more closely than the rest of us so I trust his judgement. I don't particularly dislike Fryatt, on his day he can be a real handful for defences yet hardly in the game on others. Same with all of our strikers.
Tilley Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Trouble with Fryatt, he needs 10 chances in a game to get a goal. You get that in League One but not in the Championship.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Fryatt is a very frustrating player. He can be excellent and go through a patch where he cant stop scoring. But then he can look uninterested, and quite easily can get bullied due to his lack of aggression and strength. He needs 3 chances to get 1 goal. But then he will miss a one on one, but score a much harder goal from a really tight angle, so he does himself no favours. Personally, although he has been a good player for us, I'd be tempted to let him go as he just doesnt fit into our selection at the moment. We play one down the middle up front, he needs someone alongside him. Coming off the bench is no good, except away to Norwich this season, I cant remember him coming off the bench and changing the game. Might be time for him to go.
Webbo Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 The trouble with Fryatt is he creates 10 chances and only scores 1. Waghorn hardly ever makes a chance to miss but people see him working hard and making hardly any impact and think he's wonderful. Btw I don't dislike Waghorn I just think he gets an easier ride than he should.
