Bristol are poor very poor... It's disappointing we aren't winning this game already.

That attitude might be acceptable in amateur friendly football but in the professional ranks it's a gift goal wasted and needs to be addressed. In fact the stats show we waste far too many chances of all kinds and I'm surpised we seem to have done so little about it.

Even in the pre-match shoot-in I've never seen any ofour coaches reacting to missed shots when the feeding coach should be making sure that everyone is focused and hitting the target.

As for penalties the only person I see practising them is Powell with Logan. What earthly use is that? Ruthlessness and attention to detail wins football matches. We got sloppy.

I read recently that Sven has been making the players stay after training sessions to practice shooting, so I think it is being addressed.

As for Howard missing the penalty, well like he said, he will take them until he misses so I am sure a change may be considered. I also think King should be given a chance. If he misses his first penalty though, are fans wont give him a chance to take another one without a moan!

great retort :appl:

cause, we won how many of our first ten games, and howard has scored how many goals in open play?

jesus, sven comes in and all of sudden we've had a season of efficient excellent football.

how quickly you fickle lot forget....

Well we've been a lot better since Sven has been here.

It's hardly his fault we are in the bottom half, there are plenty of other people to blame

I wasn't slating Howard. Im usually the first to sing his praises and I recognise that he has made a great contribution recently. There is no point pretending that his2 previous penalties were convincing just because they went in though. He is very easy to read which is why in all 3 cases the keeper has gone the right way.

Anyway..we should be able to create goals from open play against this lot. We have been completely dominant and there are definitely goals in our team.

Come on city!! :scarf:

We can't take our chances up front and we're signing a Goalie on loan next week

Don't say we haven't been after a striker because we have... but Sven will only sign a striker that can make a difference. Miller deal could still go through next week...

Get off his back he's been fantastic recently

This isn't off the back of him missing a penalty, he has a good impact usually coming on as a sub derby apart. It's glaringly obvious he hasn't got it in him to start games.

What I don't understand is why we gave Howard the captains armband when we was unbeaten under kings

leadership.

Well that is clearly bullshit

You have seeen us play on TV - we have been on TV twice. What about the rest of the game? Don't talk shit if you haven't been to the games

on uk terrestrial tv maybe, but we do have the internet too-

there's plenty of people who go to games and talk a lot more shit than i do.

when did howard suddenly become a quality footballer, anyone who can't see how limited he is must be blind - he's not a bad player, but we need someone better, that's not talking shit, that's stating the bleeding obvious.

or maybe none of you lot have ambitions of promotion...

So the Peno disagreement is as followed.

Those with negative thinking moan if it's not right in the corner because it's not good enough, but if he was to hammer it in off of the side netting, it wouldn't be a good peno either because it nearly went wide.

Some people are never happy.

Exactly, he could score 10 in a row, then he would miss one, and someone would say 'well it was only a matter of time until he missed, his penaltes are all crap, the goalkeeper got quite close to all of them, he's shit, he shouldn't take penalties'.

Howard, albeit 34 now and getting slower each year, still offers plenty up front.

I've been impressed with his working rate so far, he even drops back and chases opposing defenders and midfield players and has already put in some great tackles in the games that I've seen him play.

Anyone can miss a penalty, in particular against England's former No.1.

We will win this one. Just a matter of time before Bristol break down.

of course, but the frustrating thing is, is that penalties seem to be the only way howard is going to score these days.

as a team we are struggling to take our chances and wasting penalties is not helping

Well if you're saying Howard has been shit when you've only seen 2 games - then no you don't have a right to that opinion because you've only seen 2 games - how can you judge him on that?

,

We listen to every minute of every game.. and we often hear "Howard shoots, missed" so we can form an opinion, he is a striker after all and his scoring rate is not brilliant. I actually think Howard is doing well and Alan Young speaks highly of him but Valarenga is entitled to have his views based on what he hears.

Wow, what fans we have moaning because howard misses a penalty. I bet you all loved him scoring last minute against sheff utd, or scoring against Derby?

Like Vassell you mean?

I know he's limited but you're on his back as soon as he misses one peno. I admit he's not a great goalscorer but he's been massive for us recently so saying 'I told you so' and that he's not done anything is wrong

Vassell you mean?

lol Give him a chance!

Howard's penalties were substandard against Sheff Utd and Derby County. I hate penalties shot along the ground which always give the goalkeeper a chance. Penalties should be a 3/4 feet in the air.

I wish King would take the penalties.

Judge him when he is fully match fit and playing has a striker

Sorry but that's laughable

Your forming opinions on what Stringer says

Watch the game, then have your own opinions

I will not comment on how the players have played today because I haven't seen them

But I have seen what Howard has done this season and he has been an important player for us

lol please score Stevie so Valerenga cna say i told you so

jeez, you doofus - i'd love howard to score, love it...

I think it has a hell of a lot to do with it tbh. Howard has been fantastic for the last 5/6 games. Our first goal last week was a result of a great Howard tackle and of course he scored the second with a penalty. I would definitely argue that we wouldn't have got the second goal against Barnsley if he hadn't come on and he scored with a great finish against Leeds. By not going to the games, which obviously isn't your fault, you do miss out on seeing the great contribution that Howard gives to the team.

i've no doubt he contributes, i haven't said he hasn't - the point is he's a goal scorer and if he could hit the target he'd be our top scorer, sadly take away his penos and he's scored two league goals.

a tackle here and there simply isn't the return we need from a center forward.

you don't need to go to a game to know that he makes a contribution, or equally that he is a poor finisher.
