Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 He nearly missed the one against Derby should not be taking them hope our heads dont drop now. How did he 'nearly' miss it? He scored
chesterfox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 cannot believe the depth of sceptics on here.................................not a question of glass haLF full or empty more if we had a glass in the first place it'd probably be cracked. Jeez......come on you blues eieieio up the football league we go
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 That one was alright but the keeper very nearly got a hand to it. The Derby one was definitely lucky. It went underneath the keeper's dive i think. 'Nearly got a hand to it'!?! Thats the point, nearly. He didnt it was a good pen and went in. The Derby one was all abou power and again went in. By the sound of it he side footed todays in to the other side, and James got there. Anyway, forgetting the pen, we can win this game easily. Come on Leicester!
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Bit surprised Kingy doesn't take the penalties himself. With his technique there seems much less to go wrong. I've not checked the stats but I'd imagine Kingy's conversion rate of shots to goals is better than anyone else's. Whatever, we really have to be ruthless. Perhaps we should get Matt Le Tissier in to teach our strikers what to do with penalties. The thing that will always haunt me - why didn't he take a penalty instead of Kermorgant?
Guest BlueBrett Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Let's just put it down to the fact that we are Leicester City. 3 converted pens in 3 matches would have been way too much to ask.
Libertine Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 It was poorly placed, luckily he rocketed it enough so it went right under the keeper.
Pegosteve Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 A goal is inevitable says Stringer... thats the kiss of death!!

It went underneath the keeper's dive i think. They were both right in the corner, just because the goalkeeper went the right way doesn't mean they were shit pens
chesterfox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 what's that got to do with anything - howard has been consistently poor at converting his chances for the last few seasons, i've seen us play several games this year on tv and have yet to see howard contribute anything significant. granted we don't have anything better - that's my point, if howard is our best choice up front then maybe that should be a priority over spending millions on defenders - you don't have to have a season ticket to see that. the fact is he's had a penalty saved, as alan young says, you shouldn't miss penalties I'd change your telly if i were you Valerenga...it's distorting the picture
Guest BlueBrett Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 What are you talking about? The Sheff Utd pen couldnt have been better placed, no keeper could have saved that. Why does he say things like that??
lcfcsnow Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Howard - impact sub at best. Replacement needed urgently! Dyers pace is also needed.
MC Prussian Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Howard, albeit 34 now and getting slower each year, still offers plenty up front. I've been impressed with his working rate so far, he even drops back and chases opposing defenders and midfield players and has already put in some great tackles in the games that I've seen him play. Anyone can miss a penalty, in particular against England's former No.1. We will win this one. Just a matter of time before Bristol break down.
C-man Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 How were Howard's penalties against Sheff Utd and Derby poor? Morons.
Lillehamring Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 But they did go in, that;s the main thing. not this one. his previous penos went in true, and that is great, but, as has been proven today, it was only a matter of time before the plan fell flat. i wouldn't be surprised if he put it in exactly the same spot as the last two, however you feel about howard, the one thing everyone has to agree about is how limited he is as a football player, how hard he finds it to vary his game, to do anything surprising.

What about the rest of the game? Don't talk shit if you haven't been to the games
Rich Fox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 I was not the best penalty not right in the corner, i am not knocking Howard though he has been playing very well and deserves his place just should not take penaltys in my opinion.
Thracian Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 He missed a penalty, get over it happens to everyone That attitude might be acceptable in amateur friendly football but in the professional ranks it's a gift goal wasted and needs to be addressed. In fact the stats show we waste far too many chances of all kinds and I'm surpised we seem to have done so little about it. Even in the pre-match shoot-in I've never seen any ofour coaches reacting to missed shots when the feeding coach should be making sure that everyone is focused and hitting the target. As for penalties the only person I see practising them is Powell with Logan. What earthly use is that? Ruthlessness and attention to detail wins football matches. We got sloppy.

Don't talk shit if you haven't been to the games Not that I'm defending Howard, but are you saying that if we don't go to a game because we live abroad we haven't got a right to an opinion?

Howard has been fantastic for the last 5/6 games. Our first goal last week was a result of a great Howard tackle and of course he scored the second with a penalty. I would definitely argue that we wouldn't have got the second goal against Barnsley if he hadn't come on and he scored with a great finish against Leeds. By not going to the games, which obviously isn't your fault, you do miss out on seeing the great contribution that Howard gives to the team.

Easy for you to say sitting at home and only watching the TV games - FFS everyone misses penos! Saying I told you so after somnething has happened does not make you right. Did you forsee he would miss today? Get off his back he's been fantastic recently
sdb Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 madness. every player, every club miss penalties. we're a mid table championship side. people here are deluded if they think LCFC should, even could be immune to missing penalties, especially against top keepers. delusional reasoning from those who are slating Howard, who's scored in the previous 2 games.
Lillehamring Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 I'd change your telly if i were you Valerenga...it's distorting the picture great retort cause, we won how many of our first ten games, and howard has scored how many goals in open play? jesus, sven comes in and all of sudden we've had a season of efficient excellent football. how quickly you fickle lot forget....
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Not that I'm defending Howard, but are you saying that if we don't go to a game because we live abroad we haven't got a right to an opinion? Well if you're saying Howard has been shit when you've only seen 2 games - then no you don't have a right to that opinion because you've only seen 2 games - how can you judge him on that?
chesterfox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 please score Stevie so Valerenga cna say i told you so
