Jakemoore Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 We've got a game in hand, stupid question, of course we have improved since Sousa left.
lavrentis Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 Probably best to judge after Monday, if we beat forest we'll be up to 14th. The division is tight atm.
phildw Posted 27 November 2010 Author Posted 27 November 2010 We've got a game in hand, stupid question, of course we have improved since Sousa left. It's not about games in hand and what if's it's about points on the board and we are 2 points from League 1 and I can hear 'sleigh bells in the snow' and like the snow the seasons quickly evaporating.
Corky Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 First nine games- 1 win, 2 draws, 6 defeats Next nine games- 5 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats No, we're going backwards.
Babylon Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 First nine games- 1 win, 2 draws, 6 defeats Next nine games- 5 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats No, we're going backwards. End of thread. Feck me this place is getting ridiculous.
Swalker Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 Don't forget that we do have a game in hand. If we beat forest on Monday that takes us to mid table (level on pints with pompey and 2 behind forest who are just outside the play offs). The table is so tight that if you go three or four games winning them all and a few results go your way you are around the play offs. Forest have already shown that this season.
phildw Posted 27 November 2010 Author Posted 27 November 2010 First nine games- 1 win, 2 draws, 6 defeats Next nine games- 5 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats No, we're going backwards. It's not going backwards that the concern it's treading water and allowing those below us to catch us and those above us streak away (like Derby tonight). We need a hell of a winning streak to get us anywhere near top half and the odd win and a few draws here and there is not going to stop that quick look over our shoulder at the trap door to oblivion - again!

Before the games today only Derby and Cardiff had secured more points from the last 8 games than us.... and we beat Derby comfortably.

But the fact is we had such a terrible start that we were playing catch up and only winning all of our games would take us into the top half, which wasn't going to happen. We are in a better position now and if we win on Monday we'll be five above the relegation zone and about the same from the play-offs.

This form table says otherwise, I would say 8th isn't too bad http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/oform.html
Babylon Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 This form table says otherwise, I would say 7th isn't too bad http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/oform.html Joint third actually.
Swalker Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 Joint third actually. Even better, just shows that in the championship even though we have had a bad start under sousa, our form has turned and we are currently one of the form teams in the championship

If you're worried about relegation you only get stomach pain and headache. The one and only thing interesting is playoff or something even better........ Come on and join the joyride.
Haydos Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 Sheff utd and bristol are the only things we can even be slightly disappointed about. Did you expect us to win literally every game since sven took over? If our form drops over the next 4-5 games then fair enough, but when we're on play-off form i cannot understand this thread. Can't please everyone can you.
Swalker Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 Joint third actually. Just to show how Sven has improved our form, select when Sousa was sacked which was October and view where Leicester City are now

Streaking away with a 2-1 defeat best not to count other's chickens so to speak.
phildw Posted 27 November 2010 Author Posted 27 November 2010 Streaking away with a 2-1 defeat best not to count other's chickens so to speak. I would still rather be sitting where Derby are right now with a battling narrow defeat against ex premiership Burnley rather than 2 points from League 1 with an embarrassing 2 nil defeat to Bristol City (yes - it was Bristol City, one of if not the poorest teams in this division) Theres that old adage - your only as good as your last game - and that's the most worrying bit!

Well of course we'd all rather be where Derby is but that's not relevant to your original post about are we improving. The point is Derby aren't streaking away tonight like you said.

Cardiff, Swansea and Derby all lost their last game, are they going to be worrying? Are all Palace's worries gone now after one win? It's over 46 games, we'll be where we deserve to be. And I don't think it will be in the bottom three.
Babylon Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 Jesus wept... Corky it's not worth it, we'll just file this thread under "not worth bothering with" and walk away, because quite frankly you'd more sense out of a turnip.
Babylon Posted 27 November 2010 Posted 27 November 2010 I'm surprised nobody's blamed Fryatt yet. Who?

Hmmm - a very interesting discussion point, well thought out and constructed and added so much to the thread. Or perhaps not - more an I've got no argument or anything to add so let's just close the thread because I cant get involved so no-one else should.
