BrummieFOX Posted 5 December 2010 Posted 5 December 2010 The campaign has worked though hasn't it. For one, everyone is talking about it, whether aboutthe cartoons or about how annoyed they are getting about the whole thing. If a large number of people do change their profile pictures, the media will undoubtedly pick up on it and run stories (whether it's news or not). People are talking and reading about NSPCC and I'd bet that they now see a rise in donations, especially at this time of year.

Or is Facebook full of "OMG YES, I TOTALLY REMEMBER THE PODDINGTON PEAS!"
Fosse Boy Posted 5 December 2010 Posted 5 December 2010 Seems appropriate... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CBgIxA2umM ... probably isn't.
BrummieFOX Posted 5 December 2010 Posted 5 December 2010 Really? Is that REALLY what's happening? Or is Facebook full of "OMG YES, I TOTALLY REMEMBER THE PODDINGTON PEAS!" Haha! Yep, Facebook is full of those people, which is exactly why it has worked. If someone had posted a serious message about child abuse and asked for donations, 1 or 2 people will pass it on. I imagine 100,000s have chained their pic because they, 'totally remember Poddington Peas'. Like I said, it won't be long until the tabloids run a half arsed story on it and it's a nice bit of publicity for NSPCC before Xmas when people will give money.
Finnegan Posted 5 December 2010 Author Posted 5 December 2010 Haha! Yep, Facebook is full of those people, which is exactly why it has worked. Not really. It's exactly why everyone's creaming over old cartoons and occasionally someone will go "Oh yeah and it's for charity." As stated, everyone knows who the NSPCC are anyway and if they don't it's probably because they couldn't care less.

As stated, everyone knows who the NSPCC are anyway and if they don't it's probably because they couldn't care less. Its not about the individuals on Facebook though and nor is it about whether those individuals have heard of the NSPCC. Like I said, it will generate publicity because of the sheer amount of people on Facebook who have done it. It's the media and press coverage that benefits NSPCC, not 50,000 idiots talking about the biker mice from mars.

James. Posted 6 December 2010 Posted 6 December 2010 This status made me laugh this morning: ]Victoria XXXXXXXX[/b]It turns out that the group asking everyone to change their profilepicture to their favourite cartoon characters is actually a group of paedophiles. They're doing it because kids will accept their friend requests faster if they see a cartoon picture. It has nothing to do...with supporting child violence ..it was on a tv show and tonights news...please copy and paste
Asha Posted 6 December 2010 Posted 6 December 2010 Paedophiles? I've been told that Al Qaeda are behind it.

Daggers Posted 6 December 2010 Posted 6 December 2010 Paedophiles? I've been told that God is behind it. Them and Fred West. The proof is on Youtube.
