Swalker Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 Yep - a couple of goals next week or he's history - I have never been Howard's biggest fan but at least he wins it in the air. Ideally we need a player with an aerial threat and with some pae as well. Jason Roberts would've been perfect but it wasn't meant to be! That's if he plays next week. I think Sven should play Vassel, Dyer and Gallagher with howard and waghorn/bednar on the bench.
Karljohn Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 The only positive with Bednar.........he's not ours! John Carew please Sven.
Thracian Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 The title of the thread "Bednar-I won't be back" says it all for me....if only it were true! Even accepting he lacks match fitness he's got the subtle ball control of a lamp-post, is hardly an Andy Gray, and generally slows everything we do. It was like watching football in slow motion when he was involved. I thought Sven had come up with a decisive master stroke when he was substituted and didn't realise he'd taken a knock. Blessing in disguise, for me. The moment he went off the sun came out.
Swalker Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 I would agree every time he gets the ball he puts his foot on it and stops it dead and stands still slowing down the pace and fluency of all of our attacks. Plus every time he received the ball he either was or dribbled to the touchline giving us no-one to aim at- not that we ca really aim at him anyway he can't head it but the box is empty.
sdb Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 poor today but i'm gonna take the unprecedented step of not completely writing him off yet.
Matt Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 Made me laugh when he ducked opposed to jump when he could have gone for a header today.
dannythefox Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 seen this guy 4times now and hes done nothing, shit with his feet and his head but will see if can hit some form.
North-LondonFox Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 Yep I agree its probably too early to write him off (even though I only gave home one more game a couple of posts back!). I think the problem is most of us were quite excited by the signing and he's been very poor so far. Perhaps it'll take hime longer than we all expected to rediscover his touch. I remember watching him play for West Brom in the Prem and he was a real handful - he's barely recognisable at the moment.
Wymsey Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 I heard from someone that my uncle knows called Harj Hir and he said Bednar may have broken his foot?
themotivator Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 i thought he was "enjoying himself in training again.." and "smilling or some shite" put the ball in the fooking net you bald git. only joking bedders, you're alright really.

What formation/system did they play though? He doesn't seem to be a lone striker and is useless as a lone striker. But if you were to give him longer how much longer do you give him. It is coming to the busy part of the season now and we can't be struggling to score because we are persevering with a loan player.

Spiritwalker Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 I think we may have stumbled across our new lone striker today. Vassel has pace and was suprisingly good in the air. It also allowed us to play Dyer.

That's a good point, I suspect he wasn't a loan striker, I think he played up top with Ishmael Miller. I understand what you're saying, maybe we drop him to the bench and see if he has an impact coming on. If I was picking my best eleven at the momenet he wouldn't be in it, but maybe he will come good in some form or other by the end of the season. I think Waggy might work as the central striker of three up front, he is physically strong enough to play with his back to goal even if he won't win much in the air.
broughtonblue Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 He doesn't want to go back, he had better start showing his worth then because on this performance he will do well to last till january
Daggers Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 Players having strops and saying how unappreciated they are - don't we have one or two of those already without signing another?
themotivator Posted 11 December 2010 Posted 11 December 2010 Nah, Sven finished with her ages ago. whey!
