Parafox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 TBH I think Ljunberg will be baggage. Sure he was good at Arsenal but the he was shite at West Ham That may well be down to the way he was managed and if Sven can motivate him to earn his salary then all well and good, will probably only be short term anyway. I worry he will just be a poseur at any club As for a broken pelvis... he would never have known unless he gave birth!
Salieri Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 If this is true then it's further confirmation that the owners should keep their wallets open but their input on signings well away. Their infatuation with a 'big name' should have begun and ended with a certain Mr.Sousa. Sven Goran Eriksson excepted of course.
Christoph Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 We dont need a past it player joining us, we should be concentrating on buying younger more promising players. If you've got the money to get ljungberg then you can probably get someone younger and just as good tbh
Ozwin Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Please god no. I've seen him play in the MLS a few times and he struggles to make an impact there. He's past it.
Legend_in_blue Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 We may have the resources to buy in January but then pulling off a decent signing in that window is a tough ask. I can only see Sven going along the ex-Premiership player route or possible Premiership reserve player route for the foreseeable future. That means picking up the likes of Vassell and Ljungberg (possibly) and trying to poach the likes of Keane (unlikely) or now as has been mentioned, Bentley. Convincing them to drop a league is a tad tricky. I don't see where Sven is going to pick up this elusive striker from either. He'll have to look abroad.
SeattleShane Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 Ive seen Freddie numerous times when he played for the Seattle Sounders. Always complaining to the refs, fell out with his team mates and the team started playing better when he left. Cant see what he would bring to Leicester.
themotivator Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 is there any truth to this then? or just massive speculation? if so then the topic subtitle should be changed. i keep thinking we've bloody signed the bloke. i am a poor little simpleton though.
carterfox90 Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 oh dear i really hope this is a early xmas cracker joke - def no thank you he's way past it was a good player but surely we can get someone a bit younger & better than that & agree with others we need a good striker in jan

Quite interesting as he was the most popular player in 2009 with fans and with MLS first all-star XI. From Wikipedia: "In July 2009, Ljungberg was selected for starting MLS's first XI All-Stars along with teammate Kasey Keller. Selection for the All-Star team is based upon votes from players, coaches, general managers, members of the media and an online fan voting system. Ljungberg received the most votes among fans, a testament to his popularity in the MLS. Ljungberg was also appointed captain of the 2009 MLS All-Star Team in their game versus Everton." I don't think a player is so bad 1,5 years later to all you other moaners on this forum. Personally I don't bother if he comes but if I understand that Sven sees some quality in Ljungberg he can utilise.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 I'd of decked Mellberg if he came in that late on me too! He hardly decked him! Looked more like he was trying to maneuver him into a nice comfy and receptive position for a bumming than anything else.
Karljohn Posted 13 December 2010 Posted 13 December 2010 A nice comfy and receptive position for a bumming than anything else. That's a sore subject!
Petchy Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 He hardly decked him! Looked more like he was trying to maneuver him into a nice comfy and receptive position for a bumming than anything else. Never said he decked him, was merely saying I would have. Would of let the Roy keane-esque red mist take over!

I thought he was the problem with the team as they had a very poor start. Got a lot better when he left.
Kitchandro Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 Anyone could have made this up. He's a big name (which the owners have been looking for) and is Swedish like Sven. Hardly much more to it than that if you ask me
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 If he is a free agent, why do we have to wait for January? Surely he can sign now?

With a player like Ljungberg the manager needs to be special. I think we have a special manager now. :sge: He has migraine and is popular with females. Quite irritating for the rest of the team if the manager don't have special skills.

Steven Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Celtic manager Neil Lennon confirms Ljungberg trial. From the BBC.
