Miltonfox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Sory if this has already been posted, but just thought i would share with you that Freddie Ljungberg will be with us from jan. Sven has tied up the deal to bring the "marquee" player in as wanted by the Thai owners. You don't have to believe me but you'll see when he arrives. Miltonfox

Unit Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 I bet I'm not the only person waiting for Bert to post in this thread.
sphericalfox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Well he's currently on SS1, and didn't mention or suggest he would. Being Swedish it would be handy to have a same National in the team with Sven, so they can talk about snow, log cabins, and Death Metal, but I would really hope this is not true, as Freddie was shite when he laboured on at West Ham, and was one of many in that team who couldn't be bothered.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Seen him on Goals on Sunday this morning. Makes sense, he said hes looking for a return. Swedish aswell.. Sven etc
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 wow. could be good. how's he done in the US? He was on Radio 5 being interviewed the other night, seemed a top bloke. Interestingly he said that when he went to the US they found he had a broken pelvis, which was put right. Apparently he had been playing with it for 2 years, they reckoned that he must have a high pain threshold and that was why he didn't notice. He also said that the MLS was very physical, but low on technical ability, so probably on a par with the Championship then. Could be a good signing if he's still got fuel in the tank (and assuming he actually DOES come here)
sphericalfox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Hopefully Emmanuel Petit is next. I agree. Zola could do us a trick or two down the wing, and he's not working at the minute either! I'm watching Sky right now hoping for an indication...I give you an update when he gives a wink or a nod.

Jodranadinho Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 technically a great player, how old is he now?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 technically a great player, how old is he now? 33 so not that old
sphericalfox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 33 so not that old For a winger that's old. Yes I have no doubt he can still take a corner, or a decent free kick, but other than an impact sub, he'd be an expensive waste of time if we are aiming for the Premiership. He's definitely past it.

He's been playing as a central playmaker in the MLS. Not everyone has just one position they can play in.
sphericalfox Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 He's been playing as a central playmaker in the MLS. Not everyone has just one position they can play in. Is he likely to want a pricey contract regardless, and we could do without him, we'll have better options available to poach in January. Sven is looking for muscle in the midfield not an underwear model looking for his last paycheck.
Kitchandro Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 If anything we need a striker. Certainly wasn't much wrong with our midfield yesterday.

STUHILL Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 He has quality. Just depends how hungry he is to prove himself or whether he just wants a move back to England and a nice wind-down to retirement. I don't think Sven is a mug though and as he keeps saying will not be signing players who aren't better than we already have. I think Sven would like to get back to 4-4-2 as he has always played it throughout his career but with Abe, King and Wellens playing so well, it may be tricky to change that. It's tough to see where Ljungberg would fit in, perhaps playing the role of Gallagher in an attacking wide position will suit his game. Exciting name similar to Pires but people will have their doubts and rightly so.
AmyLGK Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 there is no way this is true, i read an interview with him last week where he said if he came back to play in the uk it would be in the premiership! soz guys!
Karljohn Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Wish these Thai's would end their obsession with these so called big name signings, they offer very little, Ljungberg was shit at West Ham, if he was that good then he would have been picked up long before now. Would rather see the money invested in Naughton & Vitor, also need that big target man still, who next? Paolo Di Canio?
Thracian Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 He'd be an All Our Yesterdays signing typical of the sort Mandaric always seemed obsessed with making. Remember Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink? And how good has he turned out since? To think of us trawling around for fading stars like Llungberg (34 in April) when we could have made a big name of Gradel makes no sense to me. Gradel scored his fourth goal for Leeds in eight games yesterday - and had the potential to do it for years if we'd only appreciated it - while I don't see Llungberg doing anything special other than perhaps short term cos he's currently scoring at half Gradel's rate for Chicago Fire, whoever they are. I think he scored six goals in his last three Premiership seasons in close to 90 matches. Why not bring Peter Shilton back if we're that desperate for someone famous. Perhaps I'll suggest he ring Sven when I next see him in The Quarter.
Dames Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 Huge amount of wages gunna be spent. Very little games will be played. Search your soul, you know this to be true.
James. Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 If it's true then it's more evidence of possible Thai inteference in the team. Not bothered at all about Ljungberg.
AmyLGK Posted 12 December 2010 Posted 12 December 2010 DID NO ONE READ MY POST - IT IS NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!
