themotivator Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 bit of a pointless arguement in this day and age, but i do find it a bit silly for people to get angry about others standing or swearing. they should really know that there are family areas and areas which are known to be quieter.
1964FOX Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 The problem is there are three or four groups in the Kop that try to get songs going and improve the atmosphere. Individually they have little effect but together they may have a chance to make sone noise. The big problem is actually bringing them together.
AndyBrew Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 there'a a big group of fans in L1 who sing a bit and then there's a teeny weeny group of fans at the top of SK1 who sing non stop for the whole game, alternatively you can sit anywhere else in the stadium and here a pin drop, I can't understand why people who complain about the atmosphere don't join one of these areas and get on with it, I did and I have had more fun in SK1 with 20 or so others since we left filbo!

Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 why doesnt all the people who want to stand and sing all move and 'stand' together over towards the away fans, this will create a much better atmosphere and for once will make all the fans sing the same songs!! nothing worse than hearing two different songs clashing with each other
RedHux Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Direby requested a "singing area" in their allocation for the other night. Perhaps a designated "singing area" will help yourselves?
Jodranadinho Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 people who want to stand, yet sit in the middle/front of the kop should simply move their season ticket. Theirs no complications involved whatsoever, I feel that most people see it as too much hassle. SK1, around kk and upwards will give you the freedom to stand.
Dan Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Direby requested a "singing area" in their allocation for the other night. Perhaps a designated "singing area" will help yourselves? A singing area for Forest away? Every away end should be a singing area as a whole, let alone fvcking part of it for Forest v Derby. Some rivalry that.

It needs the influential members of each group to get together and sort something out but that would not be an easy thing to arrange as I doubt any one individual knows all the required people and they probably don't all use this forum. Needs a big effort at a game such as Man City when people are moved anyway for all singers to gather in a predetermined area abd see what happens.
Spiritwalker Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 If the Kop was singing during the Forest match we couldn't hear it. It's probably the acoustics of the place but the away fans can't hear anything from that end of the ground. Wouldn't it make more sense to switch the family stand and "the kop" around? Yes it would. You have hit the nail on the head. If the kop sounded quiet during the Forest match I dread to think what it sounds like the rest of the time. I usually sit about half way up SK1 which isn't too bad, twice this season I have been in SK2 and it was so quiet it was embarassing. This was nothing to do with acoustics, just fans that did not want to sing.
Swalker Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Well I sit in the family stand and I can hear the east stand around the drum and the away fans but that is all. The sound doesn't travel across the stadium at all
Ford Super Sunday Posted 31 December 2010 Posted 31 December 2010 Some people don't want to sing, it's as simple as that They pay their money, it's not written on the ticket they have to chant for 90 minutes Lifes a bitch, the world is ending because people wont sing Get over it.
blueharmie Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 why oh why do you all sit in the so called kop?? its not a kop, the noise comes from l1 and k block as thats near the away fans, not hard t figure out. why the hell would you sing in the kop a million miles away from where the banter is at? if you sit in the kop and moan about atmosphere its your fult for siting in there next to the oldies.

Maybe people aren't bothered about "banter" with the away fans and would rather just sing in support of their team all game?
foxfan13 Posted 1 January 2011 Posted 1 January 2011 I sit in SK4 and i love the view but the atmos is terrible, i always leave each game having shouted and chanted as much as a can throughout the game but the amount of times i have had my shirt pulled as someone tries to make me sit down is a bit maddening. I don't stand all the time as i don't want to block peoples views behind me yet still get moaned at for standing up. Me and my mate feel like we are the only ones who stand up and shout at times. I also get the bad looks when i swear but hey it's a footy match and it's the 'Kop', if you dont want to hear swearing then sit somewhere else! Hope there will be a solution to this as we need to get a better vocal backing for the team! Don't really want to move my seat as most of the people around me, although quiet, have now got used to me shouting, it's just the ones who turn up occasionally that moan and pull my shirt! I'm sure they get some of their entertainment from watching my shout myself hoarse and red in the face!! Yes we have a pretty poor atmos, this would be bettered even if the moaners actually applauded when someone does something good rather than just moaning constantly .... Ho hum, i'll be shouting/standing like normal on Monday!

Because it's considerably cheaper than the east stand.

Oh no I didn't realise I couldn't stand and sing once I had got over 30. It has nothing to do with age, I sang at an away match surrounded by youngsters who only joined in occasionally and sat down every time the stewards came any where near them. It's about numbers, there are enough singers in the Kop to create atmosphere but hter all scattered around. It does also have a lot to do with the way the ground is built, we rarely hear L1 either.
leicesterseddon Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 Essentially the problem is down to the nature of the stadium, pricing and fan expectation. At Filbert Street, for example, it was common knowledge that different areas of the ground presented different attributes - the Kop was where you went if you wanted a cheap ticket and to stand/sing, the Carling stand generally was a bit more expensive but more comfortable, the family stand was cheap like the Kop but without the swearing and proximity to away fans. The stands were noticably different and offered obviously different matchday experiences, which meant that fans just self-segregated. At the Walkers this is made more difficult by the fact that A) all the stands are the same and all seats offer unrestricted views and the same degree of comfort and B) the pricing is not that different across the stadium (which, of course, is a result of A). In the 'Kop' at the Walkers these days there is a greater mixture of different types of fan - some want to stand, some to sit, some to sing, some not to sing, etc. meaning that some of the atmosphere has been lost. There are also more families - because you're actually likely to encounter swearing/violence in the family stand due to the fact the away fans are right next to you! There are differences between the stands but these have become diluted. Self-segregation between fans is already happening, slowly, in L,J block, etc. But due to the nature of changing seats season-by-season this will take years to achieve. E.g. there are probably hundreds of fans who actually want to stand but cannot, because they have tickets in the Kop and are surrounded by people who want to sit, and all the seats below the current standers in L1, etc. are already taken by season-ticket holders who like to sit.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 The club couldn't put the Kop where the Family stand is because of safety reasons. It does my head in aswell. It seems to me that there ain't many middle aged & teenagers that get to our games, just old people (probably very loyal supporters). The atmosphere is part of the experience for me, Ill be paying adult prices for a ST next year, but apart from L1 which isn't 'brilliant' the atmosphere's crap.Money isn't a big problem, I doubt im gonna renew it, just get to more away's if I can.

Im one of them, I do stand some games, im on row MM SK2 but it all depends who's behind.
Ashley Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 The club couldn't put the Kop where the Family stand is because of safety reasons. Nothing to do with Safety reason at all, its that Leicester are to cheap to put a extra line of coppers/stewards down the segregation. It could of been done!
blueharmie Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 all the singers and standers to the back of L K and J. only way to do it. People that sit in the kop and moan MOVE its not hard to do.
AoWW Posted 2 January 2011 Posted 2 January 2011 all the singers and standers to the back of L K and J. only way to do it. People that sit in the kop and moan MOVE its not hard to do. Have you seen the age of most folks in the kop - MOVING is pretty damn tough for most of 'em.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 The atmosphere or lack of it is a fookin disgrace, the only answer is more fans join in the singing and the moaners go and sit in the west stand. i wish the club would re-locate the family stand though, that would make more sense but lets be honest it aint going to happen
accessory Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 Well I sit in the family stand and I can hear the east stand around the drum and the away fans but that is all. The sound doesn't travel across the stadium at all It seems to travel well enough whenever Leeds fans visit...
