Its good to actually have a defender who can score. Not every defender is born to score, ie carragher and the like. It does add an element to their play, but should not be the be all and end all.

It does add an element to their play, but should not be the be all and end all. True, but Hobbs doesnt look like ever scoring, cant header the ball at all when we're attacking.

Like I said, doesnt matter if your midfield and attackers are doing their job. It is an added bonus for Bamba, but I'm happy if Hobbs is playing his best at the back, even if the goals arn't there.

Yes he's made a few mistakes but he's also put in some great performances. Sven needs to show some faith in his defenders or else they'll never perform as a unit, and was Mee any better than Hobbs today?

He's been brought in as an option so there was no problem with putting him in after 2 questionable performances from Hobbs. Sven obviously had faith in him. The second penalty should never have been given and a few that went seem to be saying he wasn't too bad apart from those decisions. He's not really got much choice if our defenders keep making mistakes. I expect Hobbs to be back in next game but if he continues to be a liability this season then surely we need to look for a replacement.

Even if he lets a goal in one in every five games by trying 'something fancy', I'm sure it will be less than what we would have condeded with a defender who hoofs every ball and allows the opposing team to come straight back at us

dbtcity Posted 22 January 2011 Posted 22 January 2011 Haven't heard the fans show there love for some1 so much since the oneil days with matty elliot, taggart and Walsh, got a fans favourite wrote all over him, what a piece of buisiness from Sven..... The buzz round the walkers is unreal at the moment, what a quality time to be a city fan, I can see a couple more fans favourites coming in before next Tuesday...prem here we come (fingers crossed)

Never felt as confident as I do now. Terrific team that started today, plus we have Gallagher to come back, Hobbs, Waggy, The Tunch (touch wood), Howard etc. The Messiah has made his 2nd coming, The Almighty Sven!

I assume you are joking, i love Bamba and i think he is a quality player don't get me wrong, but he is not a world better by any means, but lets just get this right, you believe that there is no one in the Championship/Premier League who has better agility than Bamba? And Katy Perry is no tart, and i have also not closely been following (stalking) her for the past 4 years, as much as i would like to.
