The Year Of The Fox

Is this true?

When i seen the Yak run to the fans at the preston match made me see he wants to play for us and the same with Bamba when we played Millwall he knew he would get a yellow card but wanted to show his passion for the club never got that from Davies

Fair enough. We'll see how the Yak feels come May!

Hobbs is beter we dont need big headed ego players who want to put them self in the shop window we want players like the Yak and Bamba who want to play for the club

Would this be the same Hobbs who allegedly put in a transfer request last year?

The point is people become too attached to players. Davies is clearly a better defender than Hobbs FACT. He can pass it better, has better positional sense and is a lot quicker. They have similar ability in heading. Hobbs may be the nicer guy but nice guys very rarely win.

bloody hell people. he was clearly happy to return here, judging by his twitter yesterday. today he's been offered Prem League football, why shouldn't he take it? plus Bert suggests it's his agent dicking us about. and it's not a done deal anyway. and as for people suggesting he aint all that, he was some distance better than any other CB we've had this season (bar Bamba who will no doubt drop a clanger sometime soon and become an instant scape-goat)

He actually looks like he could drop 10 clangers a game, I'm not sure if its because he's a bit gangly or what. However his skill/gangliness/sheer luck instantly gets him out of the hole he could get himself into. He somehow simultaneously looks the riskiest & most skilful player to me, and long may his luck/skill/rubber legs continue.

You say Davies was clearly happy to be coming back here? Perhaps, or perhaps he was just using us to get the final £10k out of Brum. Who knows?

I'm not going to attack him for choosing a club which is established in the Prem & presumably right near his current home over a temporary loan deal with us.

He played for us for about 3 months and was good for about half of it.

Don't see how he was so much better.

because our other centre backs have been poor this season

At the moment he is, but he's 25.

And in the short time he was here he was useless for about a month.

Jesus he's not that good

Hobbs has had more good games than Davies. He's just played more games than Davies.

Davies was only here a short time and looked crap for half of it.

Strangely unperturbed by this. I feel like I should be really pissed off that we have allowed a Premiership standard player to slip through our fingers but I'm just not. I remember watching him on his debut for us and thinking **** me this guy is a cut above. I even text my Villa fan mate about him. He's a bloody centre back though and surely the most important attribute you can have in that position is consistency and he just didn't. You can blame it on attitude or desire or whatever you like but in doing that you are doing him a favour really and making excuses for him. The facts of the matter are that he was hit and miss, seems incapable of feeling genuine attachment to any club and we were hardly desperate for his signature anyway given the players we already have and the ones we hear are in the pipeline.

He wouldn't have fit in here anyway. Look at our side. From back to front the one thing that we have in adbundance is passion. Every single one of our starting eleven gives me the impression that they love playing for us and care deeply about what we the fans think of them. So do the majority of the bench. Curtis Davies just doesn't strike me as that kind of character. No egos at Leicester City thank you, we are succeed and fall short as a team. :scarf:

Hobbs may improve but at the moment he can't pass.

After a couple of seasons of Kisnorbo and Brown I really want to move on and get a centre half who can pass, has good positional qualities and can also run with the ball. All things that Hobbs can't do.

What a **** he will look when he goes to Birmingham after all his tweets.

Really not that bothered about him anyhow.

Hobbs has had an awful season (i'm a fan but there's no denying this), Morrison was out of his depth (but has potential), Vitor has had a handful of decent games and at least as many poor ones, Bamba's played 4 games (and looked mostly decent) and conceded...9/10 goals, and Mee had a horrible debut, so yeah, he's definitely been one of our better CB's this season. Surely an obvious statement?

I don't see that at all, but then perhaps you think that Adams loves Blackpool because he thumped the badge last week.

The day after he put in a transfer request.

I want the best players we can get, not ones who give 100% week in, week out but actually achieve very little.

Morrison & Hobbs have to be one of the worst centre back partnerships I have ever seen, is it only Morrison to blame now?

I think Hobbs can improve and become a good player but it will take time, while that is happening I'd love to have someone of the calibre of Davies.

You're saying Davies has been better than Hobbs because of a few performances. But the fact is even in his short time he was inconsistent, having almost as many bad games as good ones.

Hobbs has been similarly inconsistent. You think he's been awful because he's played more games. I disagree he's had an awful season, he's put in quite a few very good performances. He's been inconsistent, but no more so than Davies.

And this goes back to my old argument of an unsettled defence being to blame. None of our centre backs have had good seasons, even when they've been brought in from the Premier League.

Nothing wrong with Brown. We miss him terribly IMO

I never said Davies was consistently amazing. Just that he was better than our other CB's this season who have disappointed. Agree to disagree i guess!

Commitment, commitment commitment.

If he came to us and played with a degree of commitment he would be excellent, the first month or so he was with us he seemed to put in the effort and really looked the part, for some reason, come December the effort seemed to drop and so did his and our form.

At this point I was quite comfortable letting him go at the end of his loan, I would welcome him back if he was to play with the required purpose but not if he was to continue his December form. Simple really.

He now has a simple choice, he has said he will come to us but at the last minute has the chance to go to Birmingham, let him choose and move on...

I do think Adams loves Blackpool as it happens! The badge thumping was just to let the fans know how much he has enjoyed playing there and how much he has appreciated their support. I don't think many Blackpool fans would begrudge him a move to Liverpool. It's a once in a life time opportunity for a guy like him and if he goes right now he will more than likely start most weeks. I'm sure it was probably quite a difficult (but at the same time really easy) decision for him.
