ajthefox Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 I don't see that at all, but then perhaps you think that Adams loves Blackpool because he thumped the badge last week. The day after he put in a transfer request. I want the best players we can get, not ones who give 100% week in, week out but actually achieve very little. Morrison & Hobbs have to be one of the worst centre back partnerships I have ever seen, is it only Morrison to blame now? I think Hobbs can improve and become a good player but it will take time, while that is happening I'd love to have someone of the calibre of Davies. Give it a rest mate! Did you even see our defensive record last season? They have both been poor this season, it's no surprise Morrison got shipped out and Hobbs doesn't have a secured spot but what you just said is a massive injustice to what we achieved last season.
Captain... Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Curtis Davies is clearly a bit thick. You don't report on Twitter that you have signed for a club when you haven't, and are willing to go somewhere else if they come in for you. Secondly you don't sign for your club's local rivals, it was a bad enough move West Brom to Villa, but then Villa to Brum he is going to get a lot of stick for that. He clearly saw us as a last resort, which is why he didn't extend his loan at the start of Jan, and was linked with a number of other clubs, not fussed he isn't coming, Hobbs and Bamba will make sure they wave to him as we pass Birmingham on the way up.
Haydos Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 It's surprising how many people are taking this as a personal snub. It's not like he actually decides, villa can sell him to whoever they like. Is that a serious comment?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Not really fussed, we will get better more passionate players im sure. In Sven :sge: we trust

Mack Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Before you all slag off Davies, who has been the best player I have seen at centre back for us all season, I believe there maybe a player exchange involved in this deal involving a Brum player coming the other way. So this deal could be as much the doing of Houllier as Davies. And if you were Davies, what would you do? Go on loan and leave your future uncertain at Villa or get yourself a permanent deal that offers financial security and the opportunity to play regularly? I am gutted he is not coming back, but I dont blame him.

Birmingham would give him less of a signing on fee if another player is involved in the deal, i dont really follow Birmingham squad etc but i imagine his place would be less guaranteed there than it would here.. theres a chance they can go down this season also.. its one of his currents teams big rivals..

I didn't rate them that highly last season, distribution was poor and we were a lot better defensively with Brown there, or don't you remember that? As a pair they were bloody awful this season, probably worse than Kisnorbo and McAuley. Fox1651 Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 i dont think anyone would argue that Davies isnt a quality player but compare his . . . . . .im joining Svens revolution . . . . . .to errm actually im off to Brum to that of Richie Wellens who admits the Truth "Leicester City are as big as any of the clubs linked to me" and there you get your answers re the whole Davies debate. Full Stop.

Haydos Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 From hero to zero so quickly on this board. Almost as quickly as his performances deteriorated. Hit the nail on the head there. Fickle supporters! Fickle supporters! Fickle supporters! Do you actually support City? What made you SO hateful? Come on, you can tell us where he touched you. Miserable prlck.
CosbehFox Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 If the manner of this deal took place twenty years ago, they'd be nothing to moan about. No fan of Davies, bar his debut...I thought he was very average. I said as much on here at the time. He was very lucky to appear most of the time alongside Vitor who despite his concentration and marking lapses is the best we currently have in that position. No twitter posts, no agent play, little media coverage. I am sure transfers happen like this all the time except the world isn't told what happens. At the end of the day, 90% of people who have gone Premiership regardless of previous club. Move on, next target.
