Wilkesy Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Didn't think my opinion of him could get any higher but it just has. What a BOSS.
evs_the_fox Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Best midfielder in this league, my favourite player for the last 2 seasons. Hero. You are my Wellens My Richie Wellens You make me happy When skies are grey So fook you Lampards, and Stevie Gerrards Just please don't take my Wellens away. Make that happen!
Brainy Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Ever since I was manager of Bristol Rovers on football manager 2005 and I had Richie Wellens, I loved him as a player.
Fox1651 Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Wellens has been a class player for a few seasons now, certainly was at Doncaster Rovers thats why Leicester payed a million quid for him. Quality player and it seems, pinching myself, a tad loyal to us?
MikeyT Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 See, we are a bigger club than any of the ones he's been linked with.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Nice to see a football player with his head screwed on. So many players move to "bigger" clubs (usually just clubs in a higher position for the time being) without looking at the long game. Good man Richie!
Haydos Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 You are my Wellens My Richie Wellens You make me happy When skies are grey So fook you Lampards, and Stevie Gerrards Just please don't take my Wellens away. This kinda petered out in the new chants thread. Needs to happen at Bramall Lane, heroic performances this season and after saying this it would be nice if we could show our appreciation. No homo
Houdini Logic Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Sounds like Wellens is looking for an improved offer from Birmingham

Aylestone Fox Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 I may not rate Wellens as highly as some on this board but he has been much improved of late, both in his play and his attitude. However I do not think him indispensible, but if the comments in the article are reflected in his performances for the rest of the season then I could be persuaded otherwise. He and Gallagher are much improved this season, making the step up to our new style of play in a way that perhaps some other members of the squad could try and emulate. Have to agree with marbelladave on this one, seen him pass runners on and not stay with them himself which ended up in the opposition scoring made me annoyed with him a few times. And then he's gone and done sublime passing and knitted us together to be the focal point of the attacks, Wellens, King and Abe seem to have a great understanding and acknowledgement of each other at the moment, long may it continue and get us in the mix for the end of the season. Glad your staying Richie,...
Guest shearfox Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Wellens has really impressed with Sven's arrival, not surprising really the style of football we play really suit him and Gally.
accessory Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Sounds like Wellens is looking for an improved offer from Birmingham Or Stoke.. Not that the style of "football" there would suit him anyway..
Edmund Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Or Stoke.. Not that the style of "football" there would suit him anyway.. He's only 5 ft 9 in. Pulis doesn't sign anyone under 6 ft 2 in
Kitchandro Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 He's only 5 ft 9 in. Pulis doesn't sign anyone under 6 ft 2 in Pulis doesn't sign anyone who can play football I remember the commentator saying in a game on Sky this season: 'Pulis will disappointed at Stokes lack of quality'. Why? He's not interested in playing good football.

Guest bennytwohats Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Tony Pulis is a damn good manager. He is a good manager but the point stands. Frustrates the hell out of me that players like Tuncay can barely get a game there despite scoring so much when he comes on for his cameos
CosbehFox Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Sounds like Wellens is looking for an improved offer from Birmingham Or a better contract him. Have to agree with marbelladave on this one, seen him pass runners on and not stay with them himself which ended up in the opposition scoring made me annoyed with him a few times. That applies almost entirely to our team, can't mark for toffee. Pulis doesn't sign anyone who can play football Hmmm. Successful though isn't? Good management recognises a big weakness of most teams and uses it. He's slowly brought quality in to supplement it too.
Kent Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 BBC Interview I don't get why there are so many typo errors in BBC articles. Do they not proof read it before publishing?
lcfc_jme Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Wellens can say whatever the cock he likes in interviews, I really don't care or read too much into it. So long as he does the business on the pitch when he's asked to, it wouldn't bother me if he said he'd consider a move to the Premier League if he got offered one.
Kitchandro Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Tony Pulis is a damn good manager. Yeh but it annoys me that he doesn't even attempt to play decent football
shailen Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Yeh but it annoys me that he doesn't even attempt to play decent football Hmm not all teams will play free flowing barca football because they simply cannot
Kitchandro Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Hmm not all teams will play free flowing barca football because they simply cannot I'm not asking them to play football like Barca. I'm asking them to attempt to pass the ball. They just hoof it everytime and I find it terrible to watch. Pulis could easily buy a couple of players who are good on the ball but all he's interested in is lummoxes. And that works for him which is fine, but it's crap football and I don't like watching it.

He has signed 'physical' players such as Jones, Faye, Carew etc but has balanced it out with players such as Etherington, Pennant, Gudjohnsen etc. He's done a fantastic job at Stoke and reminds me a bit of O'Neill with the job that he has done. I'm sure there were a fair few who didn't appreciate our style of football at the time but it was effective nonetheless.
