Uncle Phil Posted 28 January 2011 Posted 28 January 2011 Argyle are in serious danger of going out of business. Their board got greedy with plans of the world cup and stadium expansions which is ruining the club, as well as the major shareholder in Japan coughing up none of the money he promised them. There is a petition which a Plymouth fan in Japan set up which he intends to hand to Kagami (the shareholder) to try and make him pay some of the money he promised and hopefully save the club. There's more information in the link. http://www.gopetition.com/petition/42254.html So why not help out the pasty munchers. Won't take 2 secs and could help save a club.
Haydos Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Very unfortunate for the fans. This kind of situation needs to be eradicated from the game. Our owners seem genuine and long may that continue but this guy is the reason the 'Fit and proper person' system needs to be stringent. Signed and good luck.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 I'll be honest and say that most people down here who 'support' Argyle really don't give a shit about this, the team or anything to do with Argyle. Most of the support are ridiculously apathetic. Shame really.

Most of the support are ridiculously apathetic. Shame really. Unfortunately what you say is true. A lot of fans have become dishearted and lot interest, a few of the lads in my Sunday team were constant season ticket holders and now they don't go to ANY games EVER. Most people agree that this is the worst Argyle team ever. Like you say it's a massive shame, but those loyal fans deserve better than this.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Signed, though it sounds like a losing battle. A Football League club IS going to go under sooner rather than later, and if the Plymouth fans are as apathetic as claimed, it could be their club that goes tits up. I can't help thinking that the World Cup bid didn't help with notions of a 45,000 capacity stadium at Home Park giving what is after all a small, provincial club ideas above its station.
Uncle Phil Posted 29 January 2011 Author Posted 29 January 2011 There may be light on the horizon. Local headlines suggest some money is on it's way from Japan, just nowhere near what was promised.
Bugg Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Cometh the football reaper... RIP Risdale reminds me of a shopaholic with a credit card. He knows that he doesn't have the money, yet he'll spend and spend.
Uncle Phil Posted 29 January 2011 Author Posted 29 January 2011 Risdale reminds me of a shopaholic with a credit card. He knows that he doesn't have the money, yet he'll spend and spend. I'm pretty sure Plymouth arn't playing him either.
samjohnson Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Cometh the football reaper... RIP Plymouth are doomed... RIP
Uncle Phil Posted 21 February 2011 Author Posted 21 February 2011 Looks like the administraters are in. League 2 awaits now surely.
Benji Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Was this down to the effort made for the world cup bid? Were they even chosen in the end?
Starkwell Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 And to think, not so long a go, their fans were gracelessly swarming all over this thread talking about how great they were and taking the piss out of us for our fall from grace. Footballing karma?
Mack Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I bet Peter Reid has made a few late night trips with his mates van down the training ground. Reports are the players are now changing in the bogs, and in the club offices Ridsdale has left staff counting takings on a abacus after he nipped down cash converters with all the clubs computer hardware.
MikeyT Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Would have signed this had i seen this thread earlier but the petition is now closed.
davieG Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 10 points deducted - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/default.stm Risdale - The Grim Reaper.
MC Prussian Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 A classic case of whatgoesaroundcomesaround or the consequences of some fatal illusions of grandeur? I mean, Plymouth as a host city for the World Cup???
MPH Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 And to think, not so long a go, their fans were gracelessly swarming all over this thread talking about how great they were and taking the piss out of us for our fall from grace. Footballing karma? I remember all the hassle we got them when we got Holloway and when Holloway left and all that. I am SURE i remember some of their fans talking about how they were a bigger club than us and how their financial situation wasnt as bad as the media was suggesting.... I wish they were still around now...... EDIT: Pitch company patient on Plymouth Argyle payment Plymouth Argyle pitch Plymouth had their new pitch installed last summer The company that laid Plymouth Argyle's new pitch will not rush into legal action to get the money they are owed, BBC Spotlight understands. The cash-strapped club still owe Inscapes £350,000 of the £500,000 pitch they laid at Home Park last summer. Plymouth survived a winding-up petition from HM Revenue & Customs on Wednesday having cleared tax debts of £760,000. Inscapes said that legal action may not help recover what they are owed as it could put the club out of business. However, the company confirmed it has been kept in touch with the financial developments at Argyle and that payments are due to resume. Cash-flow remains a major concern at the League One club, with the players still awaiting their January wages and their next tax bill due on 22 February. Peter Ridsdale, who has been working as an advisor to Plymouth's board since December last year, has previously told BBC Spotlight that £2 million is needed to ensure the club survives until the end of the season. Who on EARTH advised them at the beginning of last season to spend 1/2 a million on a new Pitch?!?! so why are they in the financial mire exactly?!?
Maybes Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 And to think, not so long a go, their fans were gracelessly swarming all over this thread talking about how great they were and taking the piss out of us for our fall from grace. Footballing karma? This. However I hope they don't go out of business as I wouldn't wish that on any football club really.
Guest Bilo Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 There are very few clubs I'd like to see go bust and Plymouth aren't one of them, as obnoxious as some of their fans were with Holloway and relegation I think it'd be tough to argue some of our fans wouldn't have reacted similarly. I can't say I was overly bothered about them going down to League One last season on a personal note but a further relegation coupled with their existing financial problems could really kill them off, personally hope they beat the drop.
MPH Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 They have now been forced into administration by the high court. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/plymouth_argyle/9414349.stm
RobHawk Posted 20 April 2011 Posted 20 April 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13142021.stm Not all footballers are arses!!! Fair play to the argyle players!! shame it looks like they are going down!
Part Of The Crowd Posted 20 April 2011 Posted 20 April 2011 A while ago at least they were having a scarf donation, send your old scarves and stuff for them. I have donated mine and have advised our lot to bring theirs down for our game against them on Easter Monday. If anyone has any spare scarves I implore you to send it to them. Plymouth/Exeter is coming up soon, so the renewed interest in the club leading up to that could make them some more money.
