Aaaaaah, now it makes sense.

That's why umpteen people who had never heard of him or seen him play are crawling up his backside.

Is there a problem with people getting excited when we have an exciting young player coming through? I can't see why that would bother anyone.

Delighted, the sounds about him are good and it's great to have homegrown talent in the first team.

Think we signed him from elswhere, MK Dons maybe ?

No, on the contrary, I think people should probably pay more of an active interest in all levels of the club.

Which is why it disappoints me that people like Schlupp only tend to get attention when some researcher decided to make them "good on Fifa."

Can someone summarise please life is short

Thrac is convinced Schlupp can make the Grade(l) John iffy and the last two severely limited

Not sure whether he was in their Academy or not but he definitely lived in Milton Keynes before moving to Leicester (I would assume( when he left school.

He must have picked up a lot this year because he was rarely our best player in Academy games last season. Incredibly quick with a powerful left foot though. Whenever I've seen him he's always drifted in and out of games but it's tricky to tell from youth team games who will actually make it with us.

Really pleased that Sven is considering him and any other youth team players.

Good Post Fez - what do you make of Jorrin John? I've seen him a couple of times and he looked brilliant but he seem's to be getting completely overlooked? Is there something up with his attitude?

i see parkes with a future ... went to a burton match with a workmate who is from there when parkes was on loan for a youngster he shows alot of promise and defencive know how...sclupp tho... surely he should be in the team ahead of howard at least for a few games now see what he has to offer not expecting huge things from schlupp as he has to get used to whole new way of football going from yoth football/reserve football to proper league footy.

Stringer said he's injured so it will be a couple of weeks at least before he figures

Have you see todays Leicester Mercury ( i know i know someone has to buy it lol) but there is an article in there which suggests even the great Svennicus is saying SCHLUPP will be training with the first team as soon as he is not injured and might even figure on matchday before the end of the season - sounds very encouraging

Cheers. Jorrin has the skill but he's very slight and not as quick as Schlupp. Does work hard though. I haven't seen any Academy games this season so don't really feel qualified to comment but Jorrin was one of the four or five top performers last season.

How big is Schlupp?

What's struck me about a lot of the lads that come through our academy (King, Chambers, Gradel, John, Porter, Dodds, et all) is that we seem to produce a lot of very small players who aren't quite physically ready for the game. O'Grady is one of the few attacking players I can remember coming through who had the strength to deal with competitive football when he made his debut (just unfortunately he was a fucking donkey.)

Physically, he's a little bit bigger than Gradel, Porter, Chambers and John. No taller though (apart from Porter, obviously).

Not wiry by any means but strength isn't his main quality. It's all about his pace and the power of his shot. He's probably on a par with Vassell for pace.

I understand that he's not a juggernaut but there's a clear difference between, for example, Ashley Chambers and Ashley Cole. I remember standing a couple of feet away from Ashley Chambers towards the end of the summer and being struck by how tiny he is, not just in statute, but athletically.

Does Schlupp seem like he'd handle the physicality of professional football at this early stage?

Given his age, I'm not suggesting there's any shame in his being somewhat petite, I'm just curious given how early some lads of the younger generation are prone to develop.

I reckon he'd be up to it. I'm fascinated by the leap from youth team football to first team level. Most of the time it seems down to positioning. Players like van Aanholt, Yakubu and Vassell had off days today but the team still had the right shape for the majority of the game.

You need to be training with the first team or be used to training with top players to a high level to understand things like that, I think. Because players aren't always "in the game" but if your positioning is wrong as well, then you will very quickly look like a fish out of water.

I'm rambling. Basically, it'd be interesting to see him playing in that wide attacking role because someone with his pace could really catch the eye.

Well, here's hoping.

yes agreed i think it would be good to see Schlupp training with the first team and maybe get a couple of sub slots before the end of the season?

Posted

I think theres room for both Waggy and Schlupp on subs bench on the odd occassion between now and the end of the season

more to the point how likely is it that at least 1 of our wingers won't get injured between now and May?

Saw him play against Rotherham pre season and he looked good (until the lights went out!)

Is it something to do with him being left out of the next u19 squad because of the youth cup here? Saw him saying something to his mate on facebook about it.
