We are no longer a good Championship team

There are 3 I consider better than us. Forest, Cardiff and QPR.

And had I seen this post before last night I'd have still said Cardiff by the way

Swansea are also pretty accomplished & Norwich must be doing a lot right.

I don't really know where I'd rank us against these, as Sven hasn't played against too many of them

For me Forest & QPR are the two best teams, with Cardiff & Swansea not a million miles away. Hopefully we can slot in just behind them (or preferably nick 4th, so we get the home leg second)

At home we're probably best but away it is hard because every team can't afford new grass......

Look at the stats when we won over Forest at home. We had 12 shots on and off target and Notts Forest had 5. I think that shows how bad Forest are. They have also lost 7 points out of 9.

Remember the saying 'Pride comes before a fall'? Well, it's true – apart from in the dictionary!

Mind you, when I started this thread, I admit it was rather 'tongue in cheek' with a provocative title to boot but I certainly never dreamed for one moment that it would prompt to date, over 100 replies and 5500+ views or that some folk would get so seriously upset. Even so, I have found it most interesting and dare I say amusing, to read the various comments and secondary discussions that ensued.

When it comes to matters re LCFC, I am an eternal optimist, not, as you might realise, necessarily a realist. Also, whereas I have had so much enjoyment from following Leicester,I have also had my share of disappointments, the greatest probably being our defeat in the 1963 Cup-Final.

But you have to be an optimist to follow Leicester. If you genuinely share the passion, the excitement, the thrills, the frustration, you have to be an optimist. To my mind, moaners and the like are not real 'fans', they are observers, commentators. If the Club went out of existence, I think it wouldn't really bother them. They'd happily go elsewhere and annoy somebody else.

Having been a fan since going to my first game in 1949, I have always been and always will be proud of 'my' team, Leicester but following the City is like riding on a roller-coaster – one moment, you can feel on top of the world, the next you are hurtling back to earth.

I wonder if the 'Noble Duke of York' was a City fan- or even a past captain!

Leicester are the classic 'yo-yo' team –up, down, up, down, promotion, relegation, riding on cloud nine, then in the depths of disappointment, despair and frustration. Which other team has been in a Wembley Cup-Final whilst at the same time, occupying bottom but one position in Division 2?

And this last week has been no different. After a disappointing and frustrating start to the season but then, with the advent of Sven, seemingly riding on the crest of a wave, seeing our meteoric rise in the table, the 1-0 victory over Forest, the scintillating 2nd half display against Doncaster, the consistency of the team's performances throughout January, especially those against high-flying Man City, the excitement and the expectancy for us to win rather than hope we avoided defeat.

But the icing on the cake has been the quality of the goals. The fact that we were scoring goals was a refreshing change in itself but now, we were scoring real goals, spectacular goals, not scrambled penalty area mix-ups and we were no longer reliant on any one player to score with contributions from Andy King, Paul Gallagher, Kyle Naughton, the Yak, Lloyd Dyer, Martyn Waghorn and even Darius Vassell and Ritchie Wellens chipping in.

Fans have been enjoying their renewed optimism as the moaners retreat into their shells.

Then, 'the fall'!

We go to Cardiff ....and lose.....and for the doubting Thomases and merchants of gloom, it's as if all their Christmases have come at once.

'League One, here we come'; 'Told you so'; 'you'll see... Administration next year, if not next week' ......and so it goes on.

But NO! We lost one game, - one game, we didn't play badly. As Sven said, 'They scored, we didn't'. Dave Jones said much the same of Cardiff's defeat at Forest. Moreover, other fancied teams didn't exactly get things all their own way.

We now need to bounce back on Saturday against Coventry and I expect City fans to play their part in doing this. Remember, we are on a roller-coaster and this ride doesn't finish till approx 4-50pm on Sunday May 8th.

Finally, also please remember, although football is just a game, it's not a matter of life or death, it's more important than that! So, enjoy it - while you can!

Here it is!

The original poster has been proven to be a prized clown, as have all those who recommended the post.

Was wondering how long it would be before someone dragged this up.

Load of hyperbolic bollocks in hindsight :D

But the Mercury and the Fox fanzine, along with many on here, were happy enough to go along with the myth that we were somehow Barcelona mark 2.

It's not surprising that some fans were taken in - or that they reacted with such fury when the extent of the deceit became clear.

To be one of the best teams in the league, you have to beat the top 6 teams in the league, and we haven't done that this year.

If we had Sven from the start, we would have finished in the play offs, but we didn't.

If the season started when Sven was appointed we would be 7th after the 26 games (up to tonight), but with other teams rising quicker up the form table (Hull, Reading & Burnley)

So no, we can't assume we'd be in the playoffs, if Sven was here from the start

Sven didn't waste a transfer window signing Moreno, Lamey, Moussa and Kennedy.
