We are no longer a good Championship team

I am starting to think that Vassell is struggling to adapt to this league as he hasn't done much apart from the odd pass and trying his hardest.

Vassell's best games for us came at the end of last year when he played through the middle, when he has played wide right he has not been impressive.

For me he should be a backup / alternative to Yakubu or an impact sub when we need to go with two up top.

Maybe, like Abe, he just needs a rest, a chance to sit out a game, give Dyer or Waghorn a start and see what happens. We have a big squad so lets use it, if one player is not performing for a couple of games switch it around, we can't afford passengers against QPR, Cardiff or Norwich, (Derby was different, we could have turned up in slippers and beaten them). Hopefully a rest will make Abe come back fighting, and the same would go for Vassell. I would love to see Waghorn get a start I think he deserves it, but Dyer is a more likely replacement.

Come on guys, enjoy the ride while it lasts.

I'd love to see us getting promoted via the playoffs (yeah, maybe a direct promotion wouldn't be so bad this time around).

But history has shown how unpredictable this league is. Who would've bet on Blackpool making it to the Premier League a year ago?

All I say is, make the most of the 15 to 18 games to come before May steps in.

Support the team and make some noise!

I, for my part, indulge in watching a classy City for once. Pearson laid the foundation, Sousa didn't know what to do with the ingredients, until Master Chef Sven stepped in.

After years of mediocrity and financial instability, the (partial) free flowing football I've seen at the Walkers and elsewhere this season is a joy to the eye of the beholder.

And we could be worse off. Just look at Derby with their current slump and Coventry with their poor attendance record.giggle.gif

I'm proud to be a Leicester City fan and that'll never stop.

We're making progress going forward under Sven and secretly, we all know that we're the No.1 in the East Midlands.thumbsup.gif

There is no denying that we are a quality side these days. if you go out and say LCFC are the best team in the league to fans of Forest, QPR, Leeds or whoever, their response isn't 'bollox' anymore is is usually something along the lines of 'yeah but you are just full of loaners'. I'm not speculating here either I'm speaking from experience.

I think it is ridiculous to claim that we are in the top ten teams in the country though. So many of our players, though highly rated, are still pretty much unproven and in need of a lot more first team experience (Mee, Bruma, PVA due to their youth, Ricardo and Vassell because of their time out of the game and even Sol Bamba who may have made an unbelieveable start but can hardly point to a famous reputation or pedigree having played in the relative wilderness of the SPL until a few months ago). In truth we really have no idea how good these guys actually are so we shouldn't make too many wild claims about how great we are when our success is so heavily dependent on a number of players who still have it all to prove. It's all looking pretty rosy at the moment and we are playing some great stuff but remember - pride comes before a fall.

We have a great chance of at least making the play-offs in my opinion which means that at the moment we can just write off the criticism levelled at us by our rivals about our loan players as jealousy. However, I can't help tempering my optimism with a nagging fear that if we fail to secure promotion this season their jibes could come back to haunt us in a big way as who knows how many, if any, of these great young prospects we will be able to persuade to stay. I know it's a tired point that has been made a thousand times before but unfortunately the point remains valid.

I think we're the best team in the league but if we're no in the top 6 and kicking off in the play-off semi-final first leg that'll count for nothing. There are other teams in the league whom have great squads (I.e) Middlesburgh but look at their league position, if we can get into the play-offs then I think we'll win it, but not reaching the play-offs would mean this great team will disappear next season, not that Sven couldn't reassemble another great team :) we're clearly being noticed though. C'mon LCFC!!!

This thread is utter nonsense.

Honestly, I'll take 8th now. Given the mess that Sousa and Mandaric put us in at the start of the season, that would be an extraordinary achievement.

We're just going to make ourselves look silly if we say "we look like a Premiership side". Other sides will drop points between now and the end of the season. It ever was and ever shall be. But so will we. If we take 10 points from the next 6 games it would be an achievement.

Calm. Down.

Mid to upper Prem Team!?

Yet we're still playing Matt Oakley, Chris Weale, Paul Gallagher and Richie Wellens? lol

I'm sorry - I'm well aware this won't be popular opinion but people really need to calm the fuck down. We are very, very much a work in progress and the vast majority of the quality in our squad is being borrowed from elsewhere. Threads like this are going to make us look enormously silly if we don't go up.

Thank fuck for you.

Have we qualified for Europe yet?

Sadly no. Try back next week by which time I'm sure Leicester will be breaking away as a new nation and entering the European and World Cups

Aaaah!

Here it is. 76 pts is the maximum ever previously needed to make the playoffs (on a few occasions). We currently have 48 with 15 games left. In the last 15 games we have totalled 30 points. Keeping that up we will finish on 78, which means we can JUST scrape it... assuming we keep our form.

Ohhh, good God, a reality check... :D

We have played some utter dross in recent weeks, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. I am massively impressed with Sven's work at Leicester but we still have a hell of a lot of work ahead of us to get in to the play-off's. Derby, Barnsley and Sheffield Utd are very poor teams and yet we actually made hard work of it for large spells of these matches and on another day it could easily have been less than maximum points taken. But that is a sign of a team on the up and I hope it continues.

Cardiff and QPR are big tests, if we keep this momentum going in to games like that then our quality, freedom and confidence will show and we'll give ourselves a good opportunity to get a result against teams we need to drop points.

I hope we aren't due a bad spell, not after what we've done in January and February but it's inevitable that teams will start slipping up and it means we need to be even sharper and want it more to capitalise and not falter ourselves.

Promotion seemed a pipedream in 2010, yet it now seems almost 'certain' amongst some of our fans and the heartbreak of not getting there would be tough to stomach two years on the spin, especially in this manner.

I suppose what i'm trying to say is, I don't dare to dream that this is our year again after the horror start to the season. But the appointment of Sven was a magical occasion and it's all starting to fall in to place. I'm a cynical fan though and the it's almost too good to be true cliche is ringing in my ears. But we must refuse to fear that and fookin destroy everything that is put in front of us, starting with them Worzel's on Friday. Another big victory and Cardiff can bollocks.

This thread is funny :D

You're a dam fine side with some good players and certainly one of those sides everyone's looking at the minute but it's quite the leap to say after a few results against some poor sides you're Brazil all of a sudden.

I agree, lets see how we get on at Cardiff and QPR,if we get 4pts from these then i might start to believe.

Good job we didn't win tonight, otherwise somebody would be claiming that we're

"No longer a good Premier League team. We are, in essence, a team of inter-galactic super-beings"

That someone may have been El Empty.

I hope tonights result makes people realsie we arent that good.

Results against the bigger teams, up there in the top 6 count most as it shows how good you really are. We really arent as good as we think we are. We are good, but hardly world beaters.

Beat Cov, and no doubt we are going to finish in the top 2 again though...

We've beaten Leeds, Forest, Swansea and Cardiff this season.

There are 3 I consider better than us. Forest, Cardiff and QPR.

And had I seen this post before last night I'd have still said Cardiff by the way
