The last time we played Cardiff Away ....

Last Season (Play Offs): This Season:

Weale Ricardo / Weale

Solano Naughton

Hobbs Bamba

Bruce Mee

Berner Van Aanholt

Gallagher Oakley / Abe

King King

Wellens Wellens

Dyer Vassell / Dyer

Howard Yakubu

Fryatt Gallagher

Cardiff seem to be playing Tom Heaton at the moment instead of Marshall not sure why would be injury, but he's only young and doesnt look half as good which is a big boost for us.

Cardiffs defence has got worse since last season in my opinion, Anthony Gerrard has gone Hull and Mark Kennedy has gone ipswich. Their new defender Keinan looked shaky so hopefully the yak can get the better of him.

Since Bellamy came hes been playing left midfield which means Peter Whittingham has to play center mid, with Bellamy always pushing forward and Whittingham playing out of position but also getting forward it leaves them open and exposed all the times. Forest hit them on the break atleast 3 times on saturday, so hopefully we can expose this with vassells / dyers pace.

Chopra is facing a late fitness test so hopefully he doesnt make it as he always scores at their ground. if he doesnt make it that means Bothroyd and Parkin will start upfront. Dave Jones likes his big men however i dont rate John Parkin although he could cause problems as ben mee is only small.

when comparing our side this year to last year i feel more confident this year when you take on board our run etc.

if naughton can stick tight to bellamy and we can cut out the long shots from whittingham and bellamy i think we have what it takes to take all 3 points. :scarf:

About the confidence thing I also agree. I said the other day that I have never felt more confident going to Cardiff City away.

same, when we played cardiff last season;

fa cup - it had only been a few weeks since we got hammered by forest and bristol, we also got beat by swansea the week before.

leauge - we threw away a 2 goal lead against cov, lost at home to reading and away at derby the weeks before.

play offs - already a goal down.

so the confidence wasnt great, were unbeaten in 8 this year so who knows ....

our team is better than last time, and theirs is fairly similar, and dont forget we beat them after 90 mins, so we should bring 3 points back with us from south wales :) :sge: :scarf:

Weird thing is comparing this game to last years, I was in no doubt that we could beat Cardiff, whereas this year I am less certain, despite the fact we have an arguably much better team, and are unbeaten in 8 games.

Maybe it is the lacklustre performances of late, which despite winning have not been convincing, maybe it was the fact that for 2 years under NP I always felt we could beat anyone, I also felt that we could lose to anyone, but we always gave 100% and that we had been in the playoff positions for a lot of the season.

Reading other people's comments on here I am not the only one that thinks we will struggle.

It could be attributed to our poor away form for a lot of this season, or that the terrible start we had made us lose our self belief. I mean Cardiff are not really better than last year, if Ramsey was playing I would say they were but he looks like he will be out injured.

So why are we so pessimistic?

We have been playing fantastic, attractive football and maybe this is the problem, if we had been playing full tilt for the last 8 games and winning then maybe we would feel different, but the fact we have strolled past Derby and Barnsley and beaten Bristol and Sheff United despite playing badly, maybe we are appearing arrogant and perhaps we almost want us to trip up so we can get back to fighting for the team and the ball and playing like we care. I'm not saying that they don't care, but the relaxed, continental way of playing I think sits uneasily on those that were brought up on blood and thunder football, 95% perspiration 5% inspiration. I am hoping the Bristol City scare and the fact that it's Cardiff will really fire the boys up and we will start in 5th gear and maintain it throughout the whole 90 minutes, I don't know when we last did that.

Or maybe it is just because we are on this unbelievable run, so much so that I think some of us just don't believe it and are convinced it will come to an end.

On our day we should murder this lot and anyone in the league, I just don't know when it will be our day, hopefully today.

The main difference is.that the lads are now.playing for each other. The spirit in the camp is sensationa, all the lads are proud to play for the leicester crest. When we played at start of the season no one wanted to play fpr sousa, there was a lack of effort and a not bothered attitude. I could see that in players like wellens, gally, hobbs and fryatt...all dint want to play for sousa.

I said from start of season we have the squad, and although we now have a better squad we have gained a fighting spirit that carried us to play offs thos year. Maybe its the sven factor, but this is definately greatest change this year.
