Kasabian LSF

this..

i know people think the speakers are cringeworthy but if there going to be used anyway i think they should at least use them better and playing this would make more people more aware of the song.. maybe even get one of the live videos on the screens..

I appreciate When You're Smiling is "our" song and all of that, yeah, great. And I really am sorry to spit in the face of tradition.

But eventually we're going to have to accept that it's just not an anthem and, I'm sorry Jersey Budd, it just can't really be turned in to one either.

If we ever want a YNWA style proper belt-out (and I'm not saying we do, but it seems to come up often enough) we're going to need to adopt a song that's both musically appropriate and actually relevant enough to a majority of our supporters that they feel they can identify with it. A Kasabian song is probably your best bet in the current context.

Oh, and, I will literally never get bored of that Hardchorus video. Genius.

Like the hardchorus tune, heres another one which sounds pretty good.

LSF would sound quality, or the whole ground doing when your smiling at the start and end of games

Most clubs fans enjoy the chance to sing something in support of their team but if we are really serious about finding a song that is to be readily identified with Leicester, then it's worth taking a look at the song titles that are always strongly associated with certain clubs.

Examples:

Forever Blowing Bubbles - West Ham Utd.

Blue Moon Man City

We all follow Man Utd. / Que sera, sera Man Utd.

You'll Never Walk Alone Liverpool

Johnny Todd (Z Cars!!!!!!!!) Everton

Delilah Stoke City

The Wonder of You Port vale

Keep Right On To The End Of The Road Birmingham City

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot England Rugby Team etc. etc.

They are nearly all slow ballads but more significantly, the tunes are easy on the ear, easy on the voice and when sung by most of the crowd, are very powerful on the emotions.

There is no immediate apparent reason why most of the titles should be associated with any particular club, even Blue Moon. Man City play in light blue. So? I regard that as a daytime colour, not night!

So where is this taking us? We want a strong slow ballad that can turn on the emotions that EVERYONE, All ages, even L1?????? could join in........ A song that would rock the Walkers No disrespect to Kasabian Singing at Manchester Apollo on June 8th @ 19.00hrs tickets now on sale

A song like 'SAILING'? ????? not 'adopted' by any specific team. It doesn't stop anyone singing other songs but it really would be good to have our own 'Natural anthem'!!!!

Thoughts?

Totally agree, it would be nice if we could do a poll or something and try and agree on one song and maybe if there was a big call for a song the club might take the fans up on the idea? As in promote it, play it in the ground to help it grow etc, Dunno :S

Personally I think this would be great, its slow, easy to learn, most people will probably know half of it anyway. Lyrically has relevance to what we are trying to acheive.

Yeah right, because most LCFC supporters are 15-20 years old ... MK Dons can sing themselves the newest "anthems", straight from a hit parade (Lady Gaga or whatever) - we can not, we are Leicester City! If the majority of City fans will be singing "LSF" 10 years from now - fine then, within these 10 years, "LSF" (or another Kasabian song) will become the anthem, not because it is now a cool music and we like it.

Terraces decide not FoxesTalkers, It's not an Eurovision Song Contest :trumpet:

Btw, what's wrong with "WYS"?:dunno:

Reason why nothing ever gets sorted though isnt it? No organisation...

I take it the 'terraces' have decided that singing songs are a thing of the past then?

You can borrow" Lost that loving feeling.." if you like, you know try it on for size and all.

Just don't break it, we need it for tomorrow night.

The fact that seemingly 85% of our fans don't actually know all of the words to it for starters. And the fact that it gets sung at 10,000mph as well. Just a thought.

So " Leicester, Leicester, Leicester..." then. Totally unique words, and everyone knows it

How about this?

Oh I never felt more like singing the blues

Cos I never thought that we’d ever lose

to Reading, and then to Forest as well.

And now we’re losing all our stars

The dream has gone we thought was ours

There’s nothing left for us to do

But to cry Kyle over you

Oh I never felt more like going again

But do we put it down to the team or Sven

Without whom, we could have been in League ONE!

You asked what was wrong with WYS and I told you. Sure the statistics I posted aren't entirely accurate, but the principle is certainly the truth.

There's a reason it's sung so quickly: to disguise the fact that everyone mumbles the shit out of it towards the end as they clearly have no idea what words to sing.

And it's mainly for that reason that, in my mind, WYS can never be seen to be an "anthem", as it were. I doubt you'll catch any Liverpool fans mumbling YNWA, any bluenoses mumbling KRO, any ManCs mumbling Blue Moon or (as much as it pains me to say it) any Stoke RFC meatheads mumbling Delilah or Swing Low Sweet Chariot. Why? Because they're proper "anthems" synonymous with their clubs that their fans actually know the words to.

Personally I think it's ridiculous that most of our lot don't know the actual words to WYS and that we don't have an anthem. But it's been the case for a while and it's slowly getting worse. That's not to say I think WYS should stop being sung, as you appear to have (wrongly) presumed. More, it's a reason why we don't have an anthem and why - without adopting something very relevant to the city of Leicester that most of the younger generation (and families  ) can pick up - we never will.

I like WYS but we don't do it justice at the speed we sing it.

It could sound great sang really slow.

Jersey Budd version just before kick-off + the lyrics printed in a match programme = 15 thousands of singers :dunno: (some people will not sing under any circumstances)

Sadly I fear you're right, it's not sung en masse and too quickly when it is.

WYS sounded amazing when Jersey Budd sang it on the pitch before the Man City game as most people were joining in and it was sang at the slower speed making it more understandable
