Adding to it with more unique chants (Kasabian etc) could only do good. Would be awesome to have us standing out as a unique support in this division (only Millwall, Palace, Leeds and Bristol City seem to have their own unique identities that I can think of, everyone else is very Soccer AM samey). Look at the kind of flags and songs the Mancs and Scousers come out with. Great pride in the culture and music scene of their cities. If we could even have a fraction of the kind of fan culture they have it would be fantastic. As it is we're treading water like 95% of this country, content with "who are ya", "ee-zeh" and St George's cross flags (not have a dig before anyone jumps in, think that one posted on here a while back with all of Leicester's England players/celebrities looked class). An individual twist would do our support's reputation the world of good.

This could be fantastic if it was sang at the right pace but it never will be, would love to get WYS as an anthem but unfortunately I don't think it ever will.

Dan Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 I appreciate When You're Smiling is "our" song and all of that, yeah, great. And I really am sorry to spit in the face of tradition. But eventually we're going to have to accept that it's just not an anthem and, I'm sorry Jersey Budd, it just can't really be turned in to one either. If we ever want a YNWA style proper belt-out (and I'm not saying we do, but it seems to come up often enough) we're going to need to adopt a song that's both musically appropriate and actually relevant enough to a majority of our supporters that they feel they can identify with it. A Kasabian song is probably your best bet in the current context. Oh, and, I will literally never get bored of that Hardchorus video. Genius. Have to whole-heartedly agree here. I'm not saying get rid of it I just think we need something else too, something like some of the songs mentioned.

If the majority of City fans will be singing "LSF" 10 years from now - fine then, within these 10 years, "LSF" (or another Kasabian song) will become the anthem, not because it is now a cool music and we like it. I'm just saying it isn't an anthem. Regardless of whether or not the fans sing it "too fast," even the original popularized versions are are upbeat, jaunty songs. An anthem is something with a slower tempo and a more rousing hook. Go listen to You'll Never Walk Alone, Sunshine on Leith, Lord Is My Shepherd, the Fields of Athenry - even Delilah and Blue Moon. They're all slow songs that can be belted out. Now go listen to When You're Smiling, it just clearly isn't the same thing; and forcing it a la Jersey Budd's awful re-write is just cringe-worthy (let alone, not at all "traditional.") Once again, I have no problem with When You're Smiling and I'm not saying that our fans NEED to have an anthem. I'm just saying, it comes up on here a lot and that people just need to accept that purely from a musical point of view, it's not ever going to work. Oh and PS: The likes of You'll Never Walk Alone were chart pop songs when they were first sung by their clubs, they were modern at the time and they were probably favourites of "the 15 - 25 year olds" that you're bemoaning.

RAISE THE FLAG FOR LEICESTER Just before kick off, there will be an announcement to 'raise the flag for Leicester', within seconds the whole ground will become a sea off blue and white(possibly also saying something like, when your smiling etc) Print the words to WYS or IF we should try to get another 'anthem' going the words to that. *This would only work for one game and the ground would need to be full! However how many people buy programmes? Even abit of paper on the sheets like the raise the flag idea would do.

Leicester artist, sort of song that'd sound quality just before kick-off with everyone stood singing along to it, now for some lyrics. The right artist but should sing 'please release me' one that you can belt out and would get on the other fans tits. Always wanted our fans to get this going after the la manga incident. Most of the best ones are old classics ala Delilah, Lovin feelin etc and the're blooming loud with everyone standing with their arms in the air. The old farts won't sing along to Kasabian - forget it! And I'm not an old fart btw
