You're better off planting a big oak tree on the edge of the 18 yard box. By then booting the ball at it and trying to work out what angle/height it's gonna rebound off it you'll get the same effect as '50p head and boot Howard'. The tree's advantage is it won't fall over when a centre half dares to even fart within 10m of it.

I'm sure Steve Claridge / Peter Shilton / Steve Walsh etc probably wouldn't do much of a job in the 1st team these days but I'm pretty sure you'd get done over if you slagged them off in the same way you all stick the boot into Howard. No one remember Leeds in League One? No one remember his 'unplayable' game against Cardiff in the play offs? Would really get on my tits if I had them.

It's about showing some respect for a player who has been a great player for the club. You cannot knock him for his 100% effort in games that he has played. On the other hand people rate Yakubu because he scores 1 every 2 games (disputable) and strolls around like he doesn't give a monkeys. I won't, not until he does something that makes a difference. So far, he hasn't achieved half of what Howard has. Putting a decent shift in would be a start.

Every time he comes on in the last 10 minutes we revert to hoof ball and invite pressure back on ourselves. Worst case scenario in my opinion.

The guy has done a job, on many occasion and it's been appreciated by me. I think the role he can play is getting smaller and smaller and sooner rather than later he should move on for his sake as well as ours. He can still do a job for a championship team (possibly not one whose ambition is the playoffs/promotion)/ a league one team. The guy has given us great service and pretty much single handedly made us competitive in that play off second leg. It is him I have to thank for one of the most entertaining football matches i'll ever see and whatever he does i'll wish him the best.
