Sociologist Posted 4 April 2011 Posted 4 April 2011 Hi, I saw this thread http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=51103&st=120 while looking for potential participants for a focus group discussion and thought I let people here know about the research. I am an academic at the University of Derby and am writing to ask for your help with research that the University of Derby, together with the Universities of Manchester and Oxford are undertaking which examines religion and belief, discrimination and equality in England and Wales. I have been in Leicester since 14th March talking to local people about their opinions of discrimination whether or not they have personally experienced it. Through a focus group discussion we also hope to hear the views of people who consider themselves to be "non-religious". This discussion is planned for Thursday 7th April, 3pm to 5pm at Phoenix Sqaure, Leicester. Refreshments will be provided and participants will be offered £20 worth shopping vouchers in recognition of their contributions and time. If you are interested in participating please contact Dr. Sariya Contractor by e-mail [email protected] as places are limited. More details of the research are available at http://www.derby.ac.uk/religion-and-society. Hope to hear from some of you soon! Sociologist

So you will be excluding those in normal hours employment and those with young children from your research? Strange choice of timing.
somebum Posted 4 April 2011 Posted 4 April 2011 3-5pm on a weekday? So you will be excluding those in normal hours employment and those with young children from your research? Strange choice of timing. I think the key phrase to understanding that one is 'I am an academic'
Steven Posted 4 April 2011 Posted 4 April 2011 Dr Sariya Contractor I cannot believe I didn't express an opinion in that thread. I am a devout atheist.
Phube Posted 4 April 2011 Posted 4 April 2011 I wanna go... but alas I too work (in the 'real' world!).
FoxyPV Posted 4 April 2011 Posted 4 April 2011 I think the key phrase to understanding that one is 'I am an academic' So true!
ajthefox Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Uni of Derby = Really? Derby? Of all the universities in the UK?
Wymsey Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Really? Derby? Of all the universities in the UK? They have one of the best Business schools in the country. Shame about the city itself i know, but i do prefer to learn a subject in a 'business school' which is rated highly nationally. I should've gone to University of Leicester as they'd accepted me but in the second week of August, they changed their minds after recruiting too many students and got fined millions and had to cut some students off courses etc.
Houdini Logic Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 The church are going to extreme levels these days to groom new recruits
