ajthefox Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Surely new contracts for Gallagher, Wellens, Oakley and King, show that all of them should be classified as Sven's men. Last City squad - XI: Weale, Naughton, Bamba, Bruma, Van Aanholt, Wellens, Oakley ©, King, Vassell, Yakubu, Kamara. Subs: Ricardo, Vitor, Gallagher, Howard, Dyer, Berner, Abe. 12 of 18, all signed by Sven ... They might have had contract extensions but when push comes to shove they were here before Sven was, they aren't his men. Certainly not for me anyway. So that makes 8 Sven's men and thus the other 10, as Babylon said, were here before.

What made Eriksson to prolong Oakley's original contract, which should expire with the end of this season? Because Sven already builds OWN squad for next season, this is the case with other three.
darko2k7 Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 I'm sick of all this scapegoating going on, how many more threads are there going to be blaming this person or that person. At the end of the day this is a team game and as a team EVERY member of the team staff included should take the criticism as a team as would they the praise. II aslo feel we as fans should shoulder some responsibility because it's our job to lift the team when it is down yet all we do is scapegoat or chant for players off the field . Our job is to create atmosphere and even when we are doing well that seems like too much hard work. see ppl posting about how sven should have done it this season and he as got the wrong players but to be fair to him I don't think there is another manager that could have found better a brought them in . You have to remember the reason why ppl are making this big deal about giving sven a pre-season is that this season all he as had to pick from is unwanted and or unfit players or unproven young talent . Next season could be our year it could not be but i for one will enjoy the ride and if we all pull together in the future we could help take this club to new heights to which we are so fortunate to be in the postion to dream about because i have said this before, it could be worse we could be Derby / Coventry fans UP THE CITY
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 An English manager will be given time to do a job. You know that, everyone does. Most people dont want Sven around, sack him now and bring in some old school manager who can go crazy if we loose a game. Some people are just so stupid, they seem to think that Sven dont care because he dont loose his mind and go crazy if we loose. Sack him! can't even speak fvcking english. It's LOSE. WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY ENGLISH MANAGERS HAVE WE. IAN HOLLOWAY GARY MEGSON MARTIN ALLEN for Christ sake, Sven tried, and nearly succeeded, in completely turning the season around. Loan players was the only option, if it had worked we could either offload them and get permanent signings for next season, or try to get them to stay if thy were good enough. the alternative would have been to buy players ( and how mant would want a permanent move to a championship club) and be saddled with them for the duration of their contract, even if they proved to be crap. I agree, judge sven at the end of next season. you need to give managers time

WardyisPukka Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 As someone has said before we were heading for another relegation season under sousa style of we'll try and score more than them!! quite a few fans wantd o'neill out and look what happened !! if sven gets the right players in the summer , we could win this league next season!! as for negativity bout this season , what else did u expect changing managers!! sven still implementing his ideas and tactics!! for any fan wanting sven out name me one better manager that would realistically come here contracted or not!! patience is a virtue some of you should try it!!
Babylon Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 you said sensible well say something sensible im waiting .its been since last june im still waitng I thought me waiting since October was bad, but June.... wow Coming from you two that's really quite funny.
Babylon Posted 17 April 2011 Posted 17 April 2011 Surely new contracts for Gallagher, Wellens, Oakley and King, show that all of them should be classified as Sven's men. Nah, they would still be here whether they signed contracts or not.
buzzy Posted 18 April 2011 Posted 18 April 2011 Coming from you two that's really quite funny. is that all you could come up with
Ambitious Posted 18 April 2011 Posted 18 April 2011 I'd like to see him actually do some scouting in the Championship/League1-2 for some young hungry upcoming talent instead of blowing a fortune on another uninterested arse scratching mercenary from the Premier League. But we've done that for years and its done **** all for us, I'm a massive admirer of what Wenger does, buys them when their between 16 and 19 and turns them into world class players, our Club always just look in this country and it gets on my nerves, there's a huge footballing world out there, this summer there's the Under 17s and under 20s world cups, we need to be scouting players at these tournaments, their the two tournaments where your going to see the players of the future, who will become the best in the world, I've had it up to here with the Club restricting themselves, theres so many world class players now who we could have got when they were younger, but decided to go for shit players instead like Fryatt, Hume, Sylla, Josh Low, the list goes on and on. As for Eriksson, although he wasn't my first choice, he's done an absolutely fantastic job, we were near the bottom of the Championship when he came, we're now in the top half. If he'd have been there from June last year i personally believe we would be up there with QPR. I think its unlikely we'll go up this season, but next season I believe we'll storm the league like QPR have done this season.
irishfox Posted 18 April 2011 Posted 18 April 2011 I have faith in Sven and will go along with whoever he decides to bring to the club over the summer once is not someone who is absolutley awful but I doubt that will happen..Sven has contacts all over the world so lets leave him at it and we will go up next season.
Jon the Hat Posted 18 April 2011 Posted 18 April 2011 I don't have the first clue why anyone thinks Sven has had anything like his choice of players come in. He has brought in what he could on loan and in January. Some keen youngsters in there. Some half decent squad players. And a couple of Premiership rejects in Yakubu and Kamara. You might hope to get a couple of gems this way, but no more. Quite simply, the calibre of players we need don't move clubs on loan, they are not free agents, and generally not for sale in January. Judge his signings on the 1st September.

The best at these championships will be coveted by the biggest clubs. Add to this Arsenal and many other big clubs fantastic scouting networks then you can see why WE don't have the world's BEST UPCOMING TALENT. Some of your posts are completely stupid. You seem to think we're unique and are somehow superior to all the teams in this league. Established Premiership teams don't bring in much young international talent. These kids develop mainly in their own countries at their country's biggest clubs. WE ARE NOT ONE OF THOSE.

But how do we know if we never go out our way to try and sign them, we can't just give up and allow the top five to control English football for the next twenty years, a line has to be drawn somewhere. Isn't the idea of running a football club to continually improve and get better rather than be stuck in the Championship or continually going up and down between the top two leagues.
