In my opinion, Wellans and king just go mindless lurking around 30 from the box Naughton and PVA go on runs to the penalty box leaving the counter to Oakley Bruma and Bamba who aren't the quickest. Reminisce all you want that's fair enough but it's completely irrelevant to the issue you've brought up.

But that doesn't mean using Andy King as your scapegoat for our midfield being "crap" makes your point valid at all baring in mind, without his 15 goals where would we be?

If King is so good, and obviously his goals are important to the teram, stick him up front then and see if he can score even more because in midfield he's totally lost

Problem is though, they`re all a bit lightweight in my opinion. We`re too much of a soft touch in the midfied, we have no real midfield general, who can take the game by the scruff of the neck, when things are not going well. I hope in the summer, sven brings in at least one quality midfield enforcer. Would also like us to bring in a Mark Davies type of midfielder too, that can run with the ball, and go by opposing players. There is no doubting king has ability, makes good runs into the box, and knows how to finish, but he doesn`t often get involved in the dirty work. Thats not really his game, but with a stronger midfield behind him, kingy might become an even better player.

Wellens is not the best midfielder we have, he's too slow on the ball and often wastes possession trying the spectacular pass when it isn't always the best option. 2.) King would not score as many playing up front because it's his movement in from deep that creates the chances for him, you move him foward and you lose that threat, not to mention he does a lot of tidying up in and around his own box. The midfield has the quality to do well in this league, it's the lack of quality in depth in the midfield that has, in part, let us down this season. Of course the fact that we struggle to keep clean sheets due to a gung-ho attitude in the defence and a keeper who can't save anything from more than 18 yards probably hasn't helped, nor has the problem of having no good goalscorer who could fit into our system until Yakubu arrived in jan.

Wellens & King have hardly missed a game,and Abe has probably never played 40 games in a season before. Yes, we lack depth, and should've been sorted, let's see what the summer brings eh ?
