Bill (in care home) gets the programmes

You might remember my post a couple of weeks ago about 85 year old LC fan, Bill, who is now in a care home in Streatham, London and suffers chronic memory loss. Bill says he first went to a game when he was 11, which would be 1937...wow. Anyway, 'Ike O'Noclassed' kindly sent me a dozen old progammes from the 50's, 60's and 70's and yesterday I took them down to St Johns care home on Streatham Common and plonked them on Bills lap. I would love to say that there was a 'One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest' moment of realisation. The reality is that Bill opened the first two programmes and closed them straight away, then looked briefly at the front cover of the others and handed them gently back to me. I have to say I was quite disappointed. Later in the visit, I tried again and just gave him one programme at a time and he seemed quite interested in where LC were in the table and what the attendances were that season. So, thanks again for all your kindness. I will leave it a few weeks and introduce the programmes one at a time. I dont think he will remember yesterday. At the least, it will be a thoroughly enjoyable way to pass the time, looking at old pictures of Banks and Shilton, and pointing out when Leicester lost to West Ham United 4-2, twice in five days! Now there's a quiz question for you.

Good work mate, maybe you could play him some old footage of Leicester from him favorite times, there is plenty of stuff on the net.

Brilliant! So much doom and gloom in the news that you forget there are decent people like you two, cheered me up no end.
