LCFC BEAST Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 He's had about 200 days on a training pitch to show potential. but is he going to get ahead of abe or oakley? no! training is nothing compared to playing a proper competitive match
shen Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 he didn't score 16 goals in league 1, besides I thought he was I was saying many people, much like with Abe seem to think to be a defensive midfielder you need to play like Robbie Savage and anyone who doesn't isn't doing anything He scored 11 goals in League One, the same tally he got the season after promotion. Did you forget our play-off season last year? And I'm very sorry, but I didn't understand the rest of your post

And I'm very sorry, but I didn't understand the rest of your post I considered him a player worthy of his place but many fans didn't as he was just sitting in front of the defence and mopping things up like a good holding player does, because they seem to think a holding player needs to run round like Savage used to do when he played for us, meaning it was only this past season when his roll changed that SOME fans would say he was actually any good

I don't know which 'fans' you are referring to, but people on here have almost unanimously agreed he's been integral ever since Pearson stepped in. I get your point about some fans only rating headless chickens, but I would not take their judgement as the general perception on King.
funkyrobot Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 I never saw Andy king sit in front of the defense 'mopping up' he tended to play more advanced last year. A good example of a non hardman mopper up would be carrick at man utd, I'm not sure king has the awareness and passing skills to do that role for city. I compare king more to a modern day David platt, a midfielder in name but whose play is more like a deep striker, rarely influencing the general game but coming alive when there is an opportunity to break into the box. King is an excellent striker of the ball and our best finisher.

Nice analogy I think Andy King is a bit like a (no offense meant) 'poor mans Lampard' ..........his game shares many of his traits, particularly the way he arrives late in the box for cutbacks etc
C.J Posted 24 May 2011 Posted 24 May 2011 King is our top scorer and a regular in the Welsh team. If the latter goes to a big team will that make him really good? Why do they have to be English? King is our topscorer and has hit double figures the past three seasons despite being a midfielder and he's still only 22. Doesn't look too bad in comparison to Heskey's record here (yes, I am aware King hasn't played in the Prem, yet). I don't see why he shouldn't cut it at Prem level despite his nationality But I don't see what you're basing your fears on. I didn't say they had to be English, you used King as an example. You can't genuinely be serious. Even if Crncic's contract was expired (which is the point of this thread if you hadn't noticed) what are you even basing that on? And you're forming an opinion of 18 year olds you've never seen play based on literally nothing. If it's alright with you I think we should let our management decide. Oh, and that guy who was our top scorer this season, what's his name again? I think he played for our academy mate. If thats the case, lets not have a debate and close the forum down. yes, he played in the Academy and he was our top scoreer, but hes hardly attracting any attention from the Prem. Look at west ham's academy, thats one that churns out talent. Name the last big player to come out of Leicesters academy.............. Heskey.
