OriginalRobboFOX Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 If jorrin is anything lile on fm, he has an attitude problem FFS. FM is not real life!
Spencer Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Jorrin is currently in Thailand, having a trial for a club out there.
Haydos Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 FFS. FM is not real life! Yeah, he was probably being deadly serious. <_<
C.J Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 So John and Yuseff are allowed to leave? Billy Kee last season and now Yuseff. No wonder we dont have many players (or strikers) come up through the ranks if the club is happy to let them go. I thought Yuseff had potential, looks like we'll keep having to sign Prem rejects or journeymen in that case. And why are f'kin wasters like Cernic and MoreNO still here, (I know lamey has been told to find another club). But if the clubs hoping to get some monies for them, I doubt they'll get offered more that £1.50.
Thracian Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Expect a 10 page essay from Thracian as to why the club are wrong and how he had hopes of them playing for England in the next World Cup. Hardly. I've barely mentioned any one of them these last 12 months and the fact that I've hardly bothered watching the youth team since last October says as much as anything about how highly i rate their prospects even if City had the means of bringing their careers through to fruition which hasn't been the case for a while. We've brought NO youngsters through to first team level for the last two or three seasons and it's hardly surprising. The arrival of Mandaric's foreign legion was the start of the rot and it was stated at the time. This season we squandered a substantial lead at the top of the Academy table - as much because Sclupp went out on loan as anything - which emphasises well enough how ordinary the team was without him. None of the decisions about not re-signing players surprised me, except that there wasn't more at junior and senior level. Chambers had pace and talent but his development was decimated by long term injury. Otherwise, the lads mentioned were okay but that's about it. They didn't have enough impact and, though it's harsh to say, if you can't win prizes at youth level you're not likely to win em at a higher level. The lack of a reserves set up denied them the extra incentive they might have benefitted from - or perhaps the extra inspiration that always helps - but even had that avenue of opportunity been wide open I don't think anyone but Sclupp would have been particularly outstanding, at least judging up to the point when I'd seen enough. Things might improve under Sven but I'll believe it when I see it. We're much more likely to try and buy success rather than build it and, whatever happens, I don't see that involving youth players although Schlupp perhaps retains an outside chance if he gets a run of sustained senior football insted of the mere taster he had last season.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 I wouldn't criticise the club for not bringing players through. King, Mattock and Gradel have all come through in the past two seasons. Three from our own academy in that time is an impressive turn around compared to most clubs. The gulf between Academy football and Senior football is too big to produce a conveyor belt of stars. We pick up those who don't make the grade above us and those who don't make it with us head to the leagues below.
C.J Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 When was the last we had a really good player come through the ranks, like a wallcott at Southampton? Was it Heskey?
shen Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 When was the last we had a really good player come through the ranks, like a wallcott at Southampton? Was it Heskey? What do you class as really good? Stearman and Mattock are both contracted at Prem teams, King is our top scorer and a regular in the Welsh team. If the latter goes to a big team will that make him really good?
C.J Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 I mean a player that attracts alot of attention from other clubs, goes on to play for England (with all respect to Kingy, Wales aint nowhere near as good as England football wise). To be honest, I dont think he would cut it in the prem, either with us or a bigger team. Stearman and Mattock are hardly setting the prem alight are they? Heskey is the biggest player to come out of our club in recent times and he's gone on to play at the highest level (for England in major competitions). I mean we got 11 mill for him ( I know thats nothing now). If we never give a chance to the yoof and let them go, and they go on to play at the highest level we'll be kicking ourselves.
sphericalfox Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Well if Sven is bringing in an influx of youth players in then surely he has put together a team of scouts than have found or are seeking replacements. Another improvement to Leicester's future. Sven is very interested in the youth set-up, and for me this is only good news should he bring in some excellent prospects from the UK, Ireland and perhaps from abroad. A clear out was always going to happen at every level. If you were a youth, and you could see the improved training grounds, a chance of working under Sven-Goran Ericsson with a decent team, with great future prospects, I'd wouldn't give it a second thought. We won't get the likes that Arsenal or Man United bring in, but I think we might be able to punch above our weight for sure. I fancy our chances in bringing in even better players. No offence to those who have gone. Sven has hardly ignored any of them and not seen what they might be capable of. I am now expecting great things to come. A youth team that competes for their league and cups. A reserve team mix of youth and decent squad players. All biting at the heels of 1st team. I think at points this season there hasn't been that level of internal competition. Not truly competitive. Sound like I'm having an optimistic day today.

Why do they have to be English? King is our topscorer and has hit double figures the past three seasons despite being a midfielder and he's still only 22. Doesn't look too bad in comparison to Heskey's record here (yes, I am aware King hasn't played in the Prem, yet). I don't see why he shouldn't cut it at Prem level despite his nationality People were laughing when Stearman and Mattock were Prem-bound and the former has established himself and probably reached his potential. But I don't see what you're basing your fears on. Apart from maybe Damien Delaney, I don't remember any of our youth prospects getting success at Championship level after being released, let alone attract interest from Prem clubs.

Was it Heskey? You can't genuinely be serious. Even if Crncic's contract was expired (which is the point of this thread if you hadn't noticed) what are you even basing that on? And you're forming an opinion of 18 year olds you've never seen play based on literally nothing. If it's alright with you I think we should let our management decide. Oh, and that guy who was our top scorer this season, what's his name again? I think he played for our academy mate.
acooling08 Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 So glad Ricardo is gone. Others were inevetibly leaving anyway.

If it hadnt been for an injury crisis in a game against QPR, we may never have seen a 17 year old bruno. We dont have a great deal of pedigree for producing youth, other than obvious exceptions, Lineker, Heskey et al.
Madrid_Fox Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 I was suprised the list was only 10. I imagine that a lot more faces will be leaving over the summer including Dyer, Hobbs and Weale.

King and Mattock came through a lot longer than two years ago and Gradel wasted most of his time on the sidelines and only "came through" at Leeds. We've brought no-one through since Pearson's arrival.

We've brought no-one through since Pearson's arrival. Andy King played 2 or 3 times before Pearson and it could be said he only "came through" last season as that's when he really became a key player, in an attacking sense, most people would of been happy to see him not play when he was in his defensive role as they don't understand what it entailed
GianEmmo Zola Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 I was suprised the list was only 10. I imagine that a lot more faces will be leaving over the summer including Dyer, Hobbs and Weale. It was just the players out of contract on the list thats why it was only 10. Im sure the likes of lamey, moreno, neilson, n guessen etc will be on the transfer list. Just dany n guessing really at the transfer list
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 Thank you Jimmy. Our academy has a pretty good turn out rate compared to clubs around us. Gradel wouldn't have attracted Leeds if he hadn't got into the fringes of our first team. Mattock developed into a first team player the year we went down. King the following season when we were in League One under Pearson. That's not an unsatisfactory turn out. It meets realistic expectations of a club of our stature.

If that doesn't count as "coming through" and being a key member then I don't know what does

If that doesn't count as "coming through" and being a key member then I don't know what does he didn't score 16 goals in league 1, besides I thought he was I was saying many people, much like with Abe seem to think to be a defensive midfielder you need to play like Robbie Savage and anyone who doesn't isn't doing anything
TheUltimateWinner Posted 23 May 2011 Posted 23 May 2011 Just one thing, We have bought a academy player... Adam smith. Signed him from middlesbrough
