That was a good game, and we should have won, certainly not lose. There were worse games than that away from home, Cardiff & Palace spring to mind.

I'll be getting it, just to add to my collection.

Just like everything else in modern times, they don't make em like they used to.

The great LCFC season review era was 92/93-97/98. VSI were the makers and they were absolutely brilliant. Now they have horribly dubbed commentary with some half-arsed person pretending to get excited.

Bring back the old days of season reviews I say

Glad someone raised the issue because I was thinking about this seeing as I collect them.

Nice cover as well, always an added bonus.

I hope we get better coverage on this than we do on the FLS.

And FSS, we had some cracking music on those season reviews

Can we try and list all the things that the season review will magically miss off, as if they never happened. And how they'll try and say we were ****ing awful in the first nine games.

So long as they don't do my bugbare, which is not show all the goals. For example we lost 6-1 to Portsmouth, so show all the goals from that game, not just one or two. Stop trying to eliminate history!

You have to love the cheap tack techno music that VSI used. If I'm going to complete my role as forum sad c*nt then I'd say 97/98 was the best for the music.

There was great music on the 92/93 and 93/94 ones.

The only thing I didnt liek about the 03/94 one was that as it went into each month, (with the month coming across the screen in big blue letters) it showed a goal from tha month before showing it again later on highlights from the game. Pointles I thought.

99-00 had decent music on, but the two mentioned were best. Those two and the 95-96 season reviews were class.

Anyone remember the commentators on those matches too? You dont get them like that nowadays either. And the one that used to say 'Julian Go-Jim'!

Completely agree, so glad someone else thinks this - though I myself see 91/92 as the best. Music on that is brilliant, and the graphics are so retro :P

The commentators are awful on the newer ones, they don't sound interested at all. Get someone who can at least fake sounding live and excited.

Wish I had that one, I've looked on the internet and can't find that anywhere. Which makes no sense considering it's the last time we won anything and our highest finish in the last 35 years

And yeh I remember that bloke, he had a really grainy voice. My favourite of his catchphrases was - 'shot comes in OH a briiiillliant goal!'. Hilarious and dramatic at the same time.

Yeah it was a good season that! Though it is let down at the end when it shows Peter Taylor taking over! There are a few seasons I dont watch as much as the others, like 2000-01 with the Wycombe game, and the final season at Filbert Street, just because they were poor seasons.

The only two I am missing (not including seasons like 2007-08 where there wasnt one made) are 1997-98 and 1998-99, would love to get my hands on those. Otherwise I have the whole lot since 1991-92, that was thanks to some bloke at a car boot who saw me in a Leicester shirt and gave me 91-94 for free! What a legend.

What a commentator that bloke was, and you're right, thats how he would commentate, 'shot comes in....goal!'. Commentary like on Joachim's goal at Barnsley in the cup, Thompson's equaliser vs Swindon and Claridge's goal vs Palace are all remembered and made into classic lines just because of the commentaries. You dont get them like that anymore.

Oh this made me smile. They really don't make them like that anymore. Almost makes me want to make my own but it's too much hard work lol

I've got all from 90-91 to 98-99, excluding 94/95 ( I don't want ones where we get relegated ;) ) FSS is right though, after 97/98 they go downhill, 98/99 is a bit rushed. Still some cracking games on it though.

What a goal from Joachim. And that was before Clive Tyldesley started to piss me off lol

Not sure which season it was but we smashed 4 past millwall and the commentator screamed" right out of the top draw kasey Keller just saw a blur " following a joachim thunderbolt after sprinting from the half way line absolute classic ;-)

Actually I dont have all of that season, I have a few months on separate videos when we had this magazine thing which they came free with. Anyone remember that? I dont as I'm too young, but somehow got the video which say 'from Leicester City magazine' or something like that. Anyone ever get it?

And yeah, Clive Tyldesley is piss poor now, just like Motson.

Season reviews nowadays are a decent watch but not quite the same excitement. Maybe I liek all the 90s ones because I didnt start going till 1997 and cant really remember anything till after 2000 so its the fact that I didnt see the games which make it more enjoyable.

I know 1995-96 word for word almost, still on VHS as I havent and wouldnt know how to put it all on DVD so it must be quite worn out by now!

The DVDs the club make now (not the season reviews, I mean the goals ones, etc) arent as good as they could be either. The Kings of the Midlands one which I am getting this week, I understand doesnt have a lot of games it could have on it. Just 5/6 when really I'd rather see 15 including decent draws as well as just wins.

But hey, we'll never get the 90s back.

Another classic previously mentioned, 5:40 on wards:

I was not even 2 when this happened, but the goal and the commentary literally make a shiver down your spine.

And that I think is the 1993/94 season (or maybe the one previously) and that is done by the commentator we have ben talking about 'Julain Go-Jim!'. Legendary

lol Same for me with 96/97 (or at least I did when I was 7!)

I didn't get the Kings of the Midlands onepartly because I resent the fact that the Club seem to think that Birmingham and West Brom are our rivals. I remember a section on 250 greates goals where goals against them were included in the 'derby day' section. That was a very disappointing DVD - am I the only one who wanted them to do a countdown from 250 to 1 instead of organising them alphabetically?

I think we have higher expectations of the games we remember going to, because you want the season review to give a good impression of your feelings/the atmosphere/importance when you watched them live, if you know what I mean.

TBH I wish my job was to make DVDs for the Club shop :D

The KofM one could certainly be better by the sound of it. I quite liked that goals DVD, though its shouldnt have been done alphabetically. A countdown is a bit hard to do (and they did a countdown in about 2004, DVD) and you always think a certain goal shouldnt be as highly rated as it is. They should have done it in more of a category style, e.g. volley's, lobs/chips, long shots, headers, free kicks, etc. I know they did that in parts but not enough really.

And yeah, a job making DVDs for the club shop would be superb. I suppose thats why I like making goals videos on YouTube, and still have every single Radio Leicester commentary for goals in 2009-10, just because it was a real season to remember.

I'm glad I've stimulated a good discussion!

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said, the VSI years were the best. 96/97 and 97/98 were the peak, though I'd say any from 92-98 were brilliant.

I quite like 99/00 for it's total no nonsense approach to the review. Though Dennis Coath (Anyone who's seen ITV Central news will know him) and his attempts at commentary are amusing.

00/01 is one of the worst. Far too much droning on from Savage and Taylor, plus the dubbed crowd cheering is absolutely horrendous.

02/03 was another brilliant one. Using the PHG as intro music, rather than techno stuff.

I was always disappointed that they never did season reviews in 06/07 and 07/08 (They had planned to do one in 06/07, but it was scrapped, you can find the DVD cover on Amazon). I know it was based on the terrible sales from 05/06, but even though we were relegated, you can't say 07/08 wasn't a season you could describe as dull!

Took me YEARS to locate a 98/99 season review, couldn't find that for buggery, and only last year I bought a 90/91 review.
