Christoph Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Just a rumour but you never no. Dont really no much about him myself. Anyone? The vastly experienced former Estonia international has been a star performer in Major League Soccer and was voted Red Bulls' most valuable player of the year. However, he wants to return to Europe to be closer to his family and is being targeted by English clubs. Sven Goran Eriksson is well aware of his qualities as his old friend Hans Backe is Lindpere's coach at New York and is interested in the attacking qualities he could bring to Leicester's promotion push. Premier League scouts have been monitoring him this year and the 29-year-old could prove a useful squad player in the top flight. He is left-footed and can play wide or central midfield. He has clocked up 75 appearances for Estonia but has announced his international retirement as he looks to prolong his club career. Lindpere has formerly played for Tromso and CSKA Sofia. Ford Super Sunday Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Absolute goalscoring legend for me as I took Newry Town to 11 consecutive Northern Irish PL titles on Championship Manager 00/01 Sign him up!
saabrian Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Just a rumour but you never no. Dont really no much about him myself. Anyone? As a supporter of New Yorks great rival New England and admirer of Lindpere ability to influence a game, his transfer would be a double boon for me. He's an excellent playmaker with a great ability to both distribute and control the tempo of a match. He can both drive forward or lay a little deeper depending on his surrounding cast. Though I don't see him as being particularly effective on the wing, esp. in the Championship. I think he'd be a great addition to City if he were playing in a more central role.
AndyNorway Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Great player, been watching him several times during his stay in Norway.
saabrian Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 New York just got rid of their other main playmaker earlier this week so I don't think Lindpere is going anywhere.
lc4lcfc Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 from what i know (and it's not a geat deal) i think we should sign him up. sort it out svennis
lc4lcfc Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 you would think it wounldnt be too much. worth an enquiry at least?
Jordan Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 Dear Leicester City, Please don't buy Joel Lindpere during the MLS season. If you must sign Lindpere, please do so during the January transfer window. Yours truly, A Metro and Foxes fan from New York
lc4lcfc Posted 2 July 2011 Posted 2 July 2011 Jordan. what can you tell us about the lad? it sounds like you value him highly

Jordan Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Jordan. what can you tell us about the lad? it sounds like you value him highly Good left foot. Takes a decent corner and set piece, and can shoot from outside the box. Can pass well on the ground, but he is not a very flashy player. He often plays on the left side but he can play in the middle. While he's not the fastest, he has a very high work rate. I think he can do a good job in the Championship, but TBH I don't think he's what City need now. If City buy another midfielder, it should be a big, rugged defensive midfielder. If City were to buy Lindpere--and I have seen absolutely no indication anywhere that they will--it would be to improve squad depth. I rate Lindpere highly, but he won't get any better at his age, and I wouldn't start him over King, Wellens or Danns unless either of the three need a rest. On the left wing, Gallagher is clearly the top choice at the moment. Lindpere isn't the same player as Abe, who plays the "Makelele role." Lindpere would be a more likely candidate to get more starts if he were to sign and City switched to 4-4-2 (also the formation that the Red Bulls use).
ajthefox Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Pretty sure this guy came up in january, probably nothing to it.
MC Prussian Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 "Former Estonia international." Andy King plays for Wales.
Finnegan Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Andy King plays for Wales. Yes, exactly, he does PLAY for Wales.
MC Prussian Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Yes, exactly, he does PLAY for Wales. My emphasis was on Wales, not "plays". Besides, Lindpere has not officially resigned from playing for Estonia, he only stated it was much more complicated to engage with the national side whilst playing in a US League.
Jordan Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Joel Lindpere has been so good for NYRB over the past month that this completely unfounded rumor would now hypohetically cost Leicester City another million on top of whatever imaginary figure they would have bid before. He might be on the best form he's had since joining NYRB.

John Matrix Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP2x46sp-WE looks to have some quality about him. wouldn't mind having him here if we can get a good price
