Haydos Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 july 1st is preseason starting date . just round the corner .we need a side that can get 1st or 2nd . that will be tough to achieve . surely sven should have been thinking players long before the season ended . still not even a loanee returning . 3 weeks to get in at least 6/7 players . then get them to know each other before august . hope it will happen , thats all . Transfer window opened last week mate. How many other signings have there been in the league?

I am glad that sven isnt rushing things and is assessing his potential signings carefully. Also most players are on holiday right now, so nothing will probably happen till after they come back from holiday!

Agreed, really don't know what people on here are expecting, as a club we are skint, and the new owners aren't that much richer than Milan Mandaric. What really annoys me though is that whenever we are chasing a player that is being chased by other clubs, we seem to always lose out Reasons for that on a postcard......

There's only been a couple of moves 'in' this term so far, King and that lad from Killie. Yeah, the Liverpools and Man Utds of the footballing world can make these early moves because guess what? They got limitless amounts of money. We have to bide our time, talk to players in and out of contract and then weigh up whether the player we want A) wants to come to us and B) is financially viable. This forum makes me weep sometimes... That Kermogant thread gets 23 pages of toss. The thread on the UEFA financial ruling gets a page. What's happened to this place?

To be honest, i think we`re probably finding it difficult to bring players in at the moment, because we`re probably in competition with a few clubs, for certain players, and the players agent are going to be playing one off against the other, so as to get a better deal for their player, and it`s all going to take time to play out.. I`m not so sure either, that we`re going to be quite as willing, as the media, had led us to believe, to pay silly money in fees, or wages, and may actually be competeing on a bit more of a level playing field, than maybe we thought, with other teams from our division. I suppose the coming weeks will tell us. I`ve got to say though, that all the hype about us having unlimited funds and stuff, has come from the media, and i`ve never once heard the owners or sven say such a thing. Jesus Harold Christ.

For the record I'm of the opinion that anyone complaining about the lack of signings at this stage is some sort of div.

The more level headed fans, or mature fans amongst us will be far more realistic in what will happen in the summer. This is Leicester City for crying out loud, good things very rarely happen to us. Yes we've got Sven and seemingly good owners, but how will we know whether thats a good thing until things have turned sour a bit?? Its laughable that 1. We're joint favourites for winning the league title and 2. Our own fans are actually betting on us to do so!! We haven't even bought a player yet!! I'm not necessarily saying we should have bought anyone by now, but I tend to agree with people thinking its perhaps a bit strange. I mean, has it enetered anyones heads on here that players may not want to come and play for City?? Is it that unthinkable? We did manage to make some good signings via Sven last season. Naughton, Yakubu and possibly Bamba. I can't, for whatever reason, see the same happening this season. Players put off by the inexplicable squad rotation? Decent young talent perhaps being put off joining us because of how some of our own decent young talent are now being shown the door? Before we played Cardiff away last season, there were so many posters on here saying we could easily finish 2nd or even top! I started a thread telling everyone not to get carried away, and naturally, the fans on here blinded by love for Sven shot me down. Time and time again I get called negative. Its not being negative, its called being realistic. I say people will be in for a shock this summer; Why do we deserve any of these quality players available this summer above any other club?? WE DON'T! We're no bigger a club than West Ham, Birmingham, Forest ( yes i said them) or Leeds this season. It'd be fantastic to see Yakubu back, as well as Naughton, and I'd fookin love Given to come. Won't happen though. On this forum we're being linked with every man and his dog left right and centre. It really, honestly wouldn't suprise me if we struggle next season.

The problem I have with your arguement is that you like the ever-so-optimists are basing your opinion on what hasn't even happened yet. You are saying that being realistic that you might expect to struggle next season. Yet we haven't even delved into the transfer market yet. Yes we are linked with everyone under the sun. Yes some of these signings are pie-in-the-sky, but then again stranger things have happened. The appointment of our manager would be the finest example of this. I haven't yet read one thread on here suggesting that we deserve these mooted players in the media. I also can categorically say that I have not read one comment or heard one interview that suggests that Sven is saying that this is the type of player that should be playing for LCFC. The old adage is if you don't ask you don't get. It's that simple. If Sven's abilities as a manager can attract a higher level of quality to a team as universally unpopular as you are making out then how did teams like Bolton, Stoke, and Sunderland get where they are today? Also there were some posters on here making it out that we would be invincible and roll the league, but your statements make out that FT has a majority of these types who have no idea what they are on about, thus making your 'realistic' opinion much more valid and far superior. It's not. You are speculating based on your limited knowledge no more no less than everyone else on here. Suggesting that a good proportion of people will have egg on their faces at the end of the summer, and more so at the end of the season is slightly 'dickish'. Have you pre-prepared your 'I told you so' thread? If not I wouldn't bother. I'll be one of the many who'll remember your posts and will be gratuitous in remarking how smug you were in your 'realistic' specu...sorry prediction, based on no evidence whatsoever.
