The Doctor Posted 12 June 2011 Posted 12 June 2011 It's summer time (although you wouldn't know it looking at the weather outside) which means one thing: lots of BBQ's. Some BBQ's can be quite boring with people just serving the generic burgers + sausages so here's a thread in which to share any alternative BBQ recipies you have, be them other food stuffs that can be slammed on the BBQ, recipies for sides such as quiche or even just a marinade for the meat. I'll start off with a recipe which is vegetarian friendly while still being nice and tasty: Stuffed Mushrooms. Take a flat cap mushroom and slice off the stalk. Dice an onion & some peppers into small chunks and mix them together with some grated cheese. Put this mixture into the underside of the mushroom and then wrap the mushroom in foil. Place the foil package on the BBQ for approx 10-15 minutes and then serve. Also two rather nice BBQ'd fruit puddings: Honeyed Figs: Take a fig and cut a cross into on the top the way you would a jacket potato. Into the gap produced put a tablespoon of honey and wrap in foil. Place it onto the BBQ and cook for 10 minutes. Serve with yoghurt. Chocolate Banana's. Slice a banana in half (across the width of it) with out peeling. (use as straight a banana as you can find) Slice a flake in half and using a small knife, work a hole in the banana in which to place the flake so it just pokes out of the fruit. Wrap in foil and place on the BBQ for 15 minutes or so. Serve with ice cream. Edit: My BBQ is a bit shit so if you have a decent quality BBQ it will probably take less time to cook these.
Itsthejoeker Posted 12 June 2011 Posted 12 June 2011 Joe's coleslaw: Quarter of a small white cabbage Quarter of a small red cabbage Red Onion Two carrots Juice of half a lemon Mayonnaise Whole-grain mustard Shred cabbage finely, but not so finely that they don't crunch Do the same with the onion Grate the carrot Mix together, then add 2-3 tablespoons of mayonnaise (depending on how much your making), then add the lemon juice. Mix again. Add mustard to taste. Taste, then season. Great with pretty much anything barbecued Try swapping the mustard for mint leaves, for a fresher taste.

The Doctor Posted 12 June 2011 Author Posted 12 June 2011 With burgers you should get them from a butchers or make your own from mincemeat.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Best things to cook on the bbq Hash Browns Lamb Backstraps Dim Sims Marinated Chicken or Beef skewers Pork Cutlets
skinnydipper Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 My favourite barbeque is the one cooked in the oven by Mrs SD and then served up outdoors with a nice cold beer
Ric Flair Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Get half an onion and rub it round the BBQ whilst it's lit and keep doing so to remove any of the shit that is stuck on from last year. Get a big fook off steak, preferrably Argentinian or Brazilian and rub some rock salt and pepper in to it and then slap her on until she's done. Swig 16 Skol with it.
