accessory Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Is anyone going? Shame Tiger Woods is still injured and will miss the tournament, even if he isn't the force he once was following his injuries and off-course adventures. Can a European step up to the plate and emerge victorious, like Rory McIlroy did last month in the US? Luke Donald or Ian Poulter, perhaps? Or will another player from the southern hemisphere prevail?
Leicester Lass Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Going on the Saturday, went last year and can't wait for it again. Would think Donald is the favourite after winning at the Scottish. All depends on the weather, links courses don't have the same bite in benign conditions which opens the door for a lot of players. Only very few will score well in tough conditions.
Ric Flair Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 6 of us are travelling down Thursday afternoon, tent in the back but nowhere confirmed to pitch it. It's going to be an adventure, hopefully going Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Should be sensational. I'll be following John Daly and Sergio. Heroes.

Might be worth an each-way bet this week, at the very least..
accessory Posted 11 July 2011 Author Posted 11 July 2011 Commentator Alex Hay dies at age of 78 Shocked to hear of this - had no idea he was that old.. RIP.
SystonFox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Not enough golf coverage in this forum. For players and fans
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Day at 40/1 2nd the last 2 majors that's great value.
Ric Flair Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Standard Sergio Garcia and Camillo Villegas bets for The Open, one day they will win this fooker. I will also be all over Jason Day, Bubba Watson, Steve Stricker, Shane Lowry, Schwartzel and maybe Luke Donald. The missus has bought me a ticket for Friday, so that's saved me £60, that'll cover these bets. I backed Steve Stricker last week so got a nice return from him at 7/1.

Ric Flair Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Geez you are excited about the golf. I'm thinking KJ might go alright and is good value i reckon for a top 10 finish 5/1 Haha, mate I bloody love it. Never been to The Open, always wanted to but it's usually in Scotland or near Liverpool which doesn't tickle my fancy at all. Whacked my bets on whilst heavily inebriated last night. Went for Jason Day, Martin Kaymer, Garcia, Villegas, Karlsson and BIG JOHN Daly all e/w hahahahaaa There will be others, they are just small bets. Gonna go big on an Englishmen.

My Brother and one of my mates went to a day when it was in Scotland couldn't find/too tight for accomidation so they got pissed and slept at the train station one night and the beach the next night Would of gone last year but the timing didn't work out.
Bert Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 The only bad thing about the majors is you can't take your phones in so you're cut off from the rest of the world. Obvious reasons why, of course. Gonna try and sneak mine in!

Gonna try and sneak mine in! I've never purchased a mobile phone, Pretty sure I'm the only one who never has, I don't feel cut off though. Although I don't have any friends.

Gonna try and sneak mine in! Very difficult to take a mobile in, I wouldn't even bother trying. They do usually have a system where you leave your phone at a drop off point and pick it up on the way out, but the queue at the Ryder Cup was huge. Airport style scanner at the entrance by the way.

You could always stick it up your arse to smuggle it in, just hope to god no one calls you while it's still up there Wow wasn't Lewis a surprise can't see him still being there on the Sunday but fair play to the young fella will be a round he will remember for a very long time.

Yeah we went St Andrews last year and it was exactly the same.
Wycombe Fox Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 1226: Here we go then, leader Bjorn is on the first tea. 1215: Don't right off Masters champ Charl Schwartzel. Good ol' BBC I'm having one of those days where the little things are really p*ssing me off.
accessory Posted 15 July 2011 Author Posted 15 July 2011 Good to see old-timer and 5-time Open winner Tom Watson hit a hole-in-one today!
Wymsey Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Good to see old-timer and 5-time Open winner Tom Watson hit a hole-in-one today! I concur, great guy. I can see S.Clarke being up the leaderboard somewhere, come end of the tournament.
