sphericalfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Microsoft arent ruling the computing world because of capitalism, they rule it because there product is about 10,000 times better than anything anyone else can produce[/b]. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I take it you know nothing of I.T. I no not one IT engineer who would agree with you.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I take it you know nothing of I.T. I no not one IT engineer who would agree with you. Nope, not my bag at all I.T. Just presumed Microsoft Office was superior to anything else, my mistake, happy to accept I'm wrong.
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Definately a way around the rules, and a very good one in my eyes! It's cheating though isnt it, we really shouldnt be proud of it
Haydos Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I take it you know nothing of I.T. I no not one IT engineer who would agree with you. The general public aren't IT engineers unfortunately. Hence why Microsoft > Everything else.
sphericalfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 The general public aren't IT engineers unfortunately. Hence why Microsoft > Everything else. The extreme nature of the post made me laugh as it wasn't written with a hint of sarcasm. I appreciate that not everyone is an IT engineer. Nor is everyone a football manager. You'll see my point when it's okay to make statements which are completely inaccurate. Windows and Microsoft products dominate the market, as they have bought up all the smaller competition along the way and have more subterfuge than a million and one spy novels. It's the way of that industry. Microsoft have been very good and leaders in the way they've earned their money. No wonder Gates' moral compass has come full circle and he has to give his money away to cleanse his soul.
brockmyster Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 It's cheating though isnt it, we really shouldnt be proud of it Not cheating we havent done anything against the rules at all its perfectly alright to do and if it helps us go up then who cares!
Smudge Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Where would I start?? Microsoft is a pretty good place I guess. OK keep going, name 50 monopolies out of the billions of companies that operate in a capitalist regime.

I didn't say I think it's better, just that's what I thought the reason for their domination was. I can't be arsed with debates with computer elitists at the best of times so I'll leave it at that
sphericalfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 OK keep going, name 50 monopolies out of the billions of companies that operate in a capitalist regime. You'll find 100 on here http://www.londonstockexchange.com/home/homepage.htm
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Not cheating we havent done anything against the rules at all its perfectly alright to do and if it helps us go up then who cares! Sure we would be saying the same thing if it was Forest doing it. Seriously I know, but I hate any sort of cheating, comes with being raised as a cricketer, I dont like the way club are finding a way round rules that are being introduced to make a very unfair game fairer.
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I thought exactly this at the time and I'm convinced this is why its been done. I expect other clubs to follow suit in due course.
wellyfox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Any sponsorship deal will have to be set out on paper and legal. Our owners won't be able to go oh this year we are paying 30M. Oh now we are in the prem here is 100M. Oh damn we have been relegated your getting nothing we are off. The deal they have set up must be legal they just don't have to disclose it to us. So all those that think it is short term and if it don't work they are off think again. These guy's are here long haul long live Top n Co
Smudge Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 You'll find 100 on here http://www.londonsto...me/homepage.htm Really? Name them
21st Century Fox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Really? Name them Whats the need in naming them? Just because they may not yet have reached an outright monopoly that doesn't mean its not they're intention. Adobe, Intel, Boeing, Google... companies that buy up their competition and either dissolve them or swallow them.

Oh I could pick holes in those but that would be like discussing the sex of the Angels. Let me ask you what you do for a living? Do you sell anything? If so, ask yourself, am I in competition with anyone else, if not give me the industry and I'll invest all my wealth in it.
Monk Posted 12 July 2011 Author Posted 12 July 2011 I thought exactly this at the time and I'm convinced this is why its been done. I expect other clubs to follow suit in due course. You're always one step ahead woolers. Obviously it's not 'money laundering' per se, but it is taking one type of money (ie a writeoff) and changing it into something else (a revenue). Just to reiterate - as far as I've heard there's absolutely no evidence that Top & the gang have gone down this road, it just seems strange to me that no financials were mentioned when the sponsorship was announced.

Any "free market" that requires anti-trust and anti-competition laws doesn't have a problem? I don't know what your point is now? So is business good for sport? So when we end up with an oligopoly like we have in Scotland and to a slightly lesser extent in the Premier League, that promotes competition? (Try investing in diamonds, I hear De Beers are doing awfully well).
Winchester Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Stadium Naming Article Short but decent article on stadium sponsor names through the years on both sides of the Atlantic.

Jace Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Man City's Etihad deal to be scrutinized by UEFA http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14490740.stm good find thought this thread was done with was always going to happen dont know what uefa would be able to do about it though, they left that loop hole open man city havent broken any laws or rules think uefa will have to tighten their own legislation if they want it to work properly
Jace Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 well we are fcuked then...... we should be fine this rule only applys to champions league at the moment
Guest MattP Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 we should be fine this rule only applys to champions league at the moment Yeah just saw that, so we can cheat up until we are challenging for that then
Jace Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Yeah just saw that, so we can cheat up until we are challenging for that then it would be impossible to law this in the championship at the moment or lower divisions because there are very few teams who make a profit in football most football teams need heavy investment to run, some teams in the champions league like man utd make a big profit so this law would hopefully rule out big spending from the top and years down the line will help smaller teams spending big to compete with the bigger teams
Len Finsbury Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Personally, I think the rule this refers to is ridiculous. Reminds me of Formula One and their silly rules regarding constructors and car specifications. FIFA want the big teams to stay big and the smaller ones to know their place. Money to money.
