  1. 1. Should City bid for Shane Long?

    • Yes but no more than £6m
    • Yes but no more than £4m
    • Yes cash and player exchange
    • Only if we fail to land Nicky Maynard
    • Only if another Championship side makes a bid
    • No not a chance

Long has had one good season, the season before Reading fans didn't rate him at all.

Spending £8million on him would be a terrible bit of business.

I would be very surprised if Sven was interested in S.L. he does not possess blistering pace and thats a must in Svens criteria in strikers, according to the rumours WH have offered £8m inc add ons

I read earlier that west ham have made a bid of £5 Million for him, Suerely we can beat that and after all we are the mighty foxes.....

And if you pay 8mill in the end he is gonna want the wages to go with that tag.

We wont pay the yak so we are not gonna pay him.

The 8 mill maybe possible but the wage would cause unrest.

Sorry imo this is a no go.

PS if we gonna get him buy the yak for 4mill spend the other 4mill as a signing on fee n pay yak 25k a week. IMO

West Ham make a new bid

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/26/shane-long-west-ham-reading

West Ham United have returned to Reading with an improved bid for Shane Long after their initial offer was rejected.

It is understood that Reading are looking for a minimum guaranteed payment of £7m for the 24-year-old striker, which is more than West Ham are willing to hand over for a player who has only one year remaining on his contract.

West Ham are, however, determined to sign Long and have gone back to Reading with a new offer that would see them pay a more significant chunk of their £8m valuation of the striker up front, the remainder to follow in add-ons.

It remains to be seen whether Long and Reading will hold out for a potentially better offer from a Premier League club; West Bromwich Albion are among those interested in signing the Republic of Ireland international.

This seems a little odd from a West Ham perspective imo. They couldn't stump up the cash up front for CMS at £3million so what makes them able to do £8 million for Long now? They haven't shifted any of their best players yet so where are the extra funds coming from?

I think this is a case of...

...just waiting to happen.

Isn't that what a lot of other fans are saying about us?

True.

But when last season we had a back line full of loanees and one up front we didn't exactly have a choice to do what we have done if we want to be successful this season.

Your right they are but i am with legend in blue here.

We have spent a lot of money this year.

But if true WHU have dropped down with 120mill debt

I think that makes a big difference IMO

It's nearer £70m which will all be paid off when they sell Upton Park and move to the Olympic stadium.
