Superb performance from Schlupp, great second half turnaround. Good professional job, all in all.

More views, as usual, on the blog. Now I must entertain the missus who is moaning because she's just come back from work and I'm tweeting about the football...

Well it's going to be interesting to see if Sven has the faith to play Schlupp on Saturday. An 18-minute hat-trick on your debut is about as emphatic as it gets especially as they played him at left-back after his third to save Rotherham further punishment.

It sounded as if he found it easier than playing against Academy opposition but it's been obvious to anyone who's watched his development over the years that the lad is a "natural" footballer and a natural predator.

What is so impressive about Schlupp is his pace, his movement and his composure - three factors vitally needed by City right now - and assets that so often what separates winners from also rans and also makes life so hard fo prospective markers. Having the versality to also play left-back is just a massive bonus.

I also got the feeling Gallagher benefitted from having such an aware and mobile striker ahead of him because, whatever his faults, Gallagher can weight a clever pass if he's got a target and he can benefit from having others make some space.

It was good for us to get our first League Cup win over Rotherham after three defeats and to continue our winning start given the much ore severe test facing us against Reading. But Schlupp's emergence is about as big a bonus as City could ever have got from such an otherwise insignificant game. Let's hope we make the best of it.
