I said I felt they were good players at this level, they were players that were a bit younger and still with a point to prove. However.. with the exception of Nugent who is working his ass off.... all the others look a bit shaky don't they? Was I wrong? Has Sven actually signed a load of duffers? Are we questioning Sven the tactician when we should have been questioning Sven's ability to pick a player? I dunno... I'm confused... Opinions please

Vardinhio Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 In terms of improving the squad my initial impressions are that Konchesky and Nugent look like good signings. I am less impressed with Danns as he seems like he doesn't know what his role is in the team. Kasper has been playing well and pretty faultless so far whilst I believe Mills and SSL have both been shacky. I have no idea why we recruited both SSL and Mills. One would have sufficed. With Tunchev coming back to fitness we have enough depth in that area. What's the point in having 4 experienced good quality centre backs.....

Babylon Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Opinions please Pretty much the same answer as most questions at the moment, it's three games. Come back after at least 12 games, then I might have actually been able to form some kind of opinion on players I've only seen play twice so far.

Teams need time to gel its not going to happen overnight, wake up and smell the coffee for gods sake man

I still believe this... of course its early days but all I'm asking is how do people think they are going to shape up? Are they going to be as good as the majority felt. this will obviously become clearer over time but I'm asking for opinion now. My opinion is that the squad has abit of a mixed psycology going on, some/most rating to go, and the rest not quite getting where they fit into this muddle and if they will. As sooner we sort this transfer fiasco saga out both ways, the sooner our squad will come together and get their priorities set. So my opinion is we've got quality, but this is football. Bob Weasel Fox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Fernandes had a cracking game against Cov Konchesky has been very good IMO Peltier has only been average but scored the winner at Cov Schmeichel has been brilliant IMO Johnson we havent really seen yet and needs to get his fitness up apparently so wait and see? Danns has been okay in fits and starts but will improve IMO St Ledger has only had 1 game so far and apart from the obvious match losing mistake has otherwise been steady Mills was good against Cov, poor against Reading but will be brilliant IMO long term Pantsil was okay in his one game so far Ball - i havent seen yet but im sure will be okay when called upon Nugent - has been excellent IMO
