earle the winger Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Seeing how Brighton play i hope Sven plays the tactics from the first half.Cant believe he changed the tactics to see out the game defending at home.We wont win promotion relying on our defense.Other managers seem to have a better tactical knowledge.
lcfc_jme Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Saw our 3rd yesterday where Bamba absolutely raped Lambert, never should've stood. But to be fair, after we were completely robbed against Forest for something similar on Konchesky, it's hard to sympathise with them much. Especially as we're always shit against them. We've finally had a decision in our favour, and hopefully we'll use it and kick on.
STEVIE B Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 League winners? I wish!! Good game for you to come and see. Can imagine it would have been great for you lot but even though we lost, I had a great time. That celebration is something Man City do which your lot seem to have embarressingly adopted. Got chatting to a few of your fans and you seem a decent crowd (although this forum is rapidly changing that opinion) so hope you have a good season. I always look at Leicester as a team that should be in the prem, would be nice if we could both get back up there. [/quote 'That celebration' was not invented by Man City. They saw it while playing in Poland against Lech Poznan, hence 'The Poznan'. And I'm sure even they didn't start it. Have a good season and well played yesterday Saints.
nothin2seehere Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Can't see how our draw last week was undeserved - we had more shots on and off target than you and an equal amount of possession. Hardly our fault if today's hero was a total prat last week and got himself sent off! I look forward to renewing our discussion early tomorrow evening. p.s. It's more interesting on your forum - ours are full of idiots who just moan and moan and moan . Oh - so is yours! Would I be justified in saying 1-4? Hahahahah.
marbelladave Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Anyone know how Forest got on? Yes I know, rubbish arn't they...... That would be pretty funny except that we could only manage a point against them last week, what does that make us?......
Earlydoorsjones Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 The moaners will continue to moan even though we've won 3pts and scored 3 goals. This is not a sarky pop at you mate but I have never moaned if the team plays well and looses... I am proud of a team display tipified by City vs Swindon play off final where we play with real conviction but loose, however I walk away frustrated when we go to pieces and scrape a win (and I look towards Sven for that against Southampton). If I wanted to watch a team that won every game I would "support"/watch United or Barca - but the majority of fans want a team to be proud of and get behind. 3 points is not the expectation of most City fans - it is conviction and pride! I grew up on watching £30,000 from Burnley play beyond their ability - but I seem to be watching £million players from Silly FC play beneath themselves (and I look towards Sven for that as well). I am totally with you - if we occasionally got 3 points but played poorly. But I am constantly watching the team play below par and so I am moaning at the performance not the 3 points. A sign of a strong team is that it can play badly and still win - we are not there yet! I hope to write a post like yours in a few months time complaining about City fans that are not happy with 3 points - because by then, we should be playing well in more games than we are playing badly and then moaning would be unreasonable. Up the City - (and the performances).
carterfox90 Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 a well needed win for us but surely sven must be watching the same game & if he keeps playing those tactics of trying to defend a lead at home we are going to get beaten more often than not a great first half where schluup was starting to cause them problems at the back then he sticks him out on the wing like he did with waghorn starting to doubt wether svens tactics will get us where we want to go !!!! the money we have spent doesnt seem waranted at the minute & now beckford might be going to southampton for £3million are we going to miss out on a bargain like that as he is proven at this level to get 20+ goals !!!

When you play poorly yet scrape a draw or even a win, celebrate the win but understand that with performances like that they are going to be few and far between. So far this season we have got pretty much what our play has deserved, except yesterday when a draw would probably have been a fair result. Given the quality of the players we have available, we have been piss poor this season. Time to Gel? Rubbish, we do not have any idea how we want to play, our shape and setup is awful, no one has a clue how they are supposed to be playing, there is no structure to gel into! I am already very close to the point of giving up on promotion, unless something changes big time we are in for a very frustrating season....

The season is over 46 games not over five. We already have more points than we had at this stage last season. We played Southampton yesterday who were on a 12 game winning run having gained promotion last season. Their confidence is sky high! We didn't lose yesterday but we won 3-2.. We will make the play-offs this season. The first half yesterday we outplayed a good team and deservedly went in 3-1 up! It could have been four had their keeper not pulled off some outstanding saves and a nailed on penalty which we didn't get when Vassel was felled in their box. I can't believe your post and the negativity. Let's see where we are at Xmas before you then have a right to criticise. Otherwise shut up and do us all a favour sod off and support someone else. Barcelona, Man Utd or Chelsea? You'd probably still moan then!! Rant over!

We've not started great but we had a great 1st half performance against Forest last week and as you said beat a team with top confidence on a great run yesterday. Makes no difference that they dominated the latter stages, that almost always happens when leading by a goal in a close fixture. It's clear to me that Sven is still trying to find his best team and formation and it seems he is getting closer. We've had an average start and are improving, and by xmas we will have a much better idea of where we are. If we're mid table ok maybe something needs to change, but until then we need to get behind the team and trust Sven to do what we all know he can do!

When I read your posts from this season and compare them to the season before it's a completely different pattern. Before you backed the "strange" decisions and now you are on the edge of giving up. Is it still marbelladave? We have nearly beaten forest and dominating against Soton. What more can a man ask for. Vassells red card was bad at the beginning of the season and Schmeichals also. Without thoose red cards I believe we should have at least three points more, probably four.
bigdutchy Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Hello chaps. As promised, the odious turd has returned. Good win guys. Really Not sure how we didn't equalize in the second half but you lot held on well. Seen a few questioning Sven's tactics...at the end of the day you had a 3-1 lead and you protected it. Anyway, well done, enjoyed the trip. Good luck for the rest of the year.

Forest are the type of team a promotion-chasing side should be beating, ref or no ref. The hammers saw them off with some ease today.

Vassell got a three match ban and I can't see us loose against Reading and Bristol at home with Nugent and Vassell at the top.... One red card that cost us two to six points. Schmeichals red card cost us two points against Forest....

I can't see what Vassell would have been able to do about that.
B52 Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Those two games were lost because of poor defending. I can't see what Vassell would have been able to do about that. More quality as strikers means the oppo can't attack so much. Vassell is dangerous and with Nugent they're lethal.

This is all irrelevant though, none of us know what would have happened if they hadn't have been sent off. Vaz could have scored 3 own goals and we could have lost. If, buts and conjecture, all very pointless. Facetious I know, but I'm sure you see my point.
Kitchandro Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 It's very simple to me, we played well in the first half but were awful at the back all game. The second half we were poor because instead of going to kill off the game, Sven changed the system and we accepted the pressure for 45 minutes. Without Schmeichel we would have lost. Sven is not proving to be good tactically and though we should be happy with the win we must also concede that luck went our way and my confidence in our promotion bid certainly hasn't been restored.

Well, the names in 'Team 1' you will know pretty well by 5pm tomorrow as they will have run your overpaid cast-off's ragged and taught them a lesson about how to play football. The better team won, now **** off.

Thanks for the comment, yes it is still me and I will try to explain why.... Most importantly it is important to know that I love my team and always want an expect them to do well, furthermore i look at my teams performance and the players performance and I comment on what I see, being the anal bastard that I am I sometimes even take notes..... In recent years i have looked at the way we played and offered suggestions as to how we might do better, when the management tried different setups I tried to approach them with an open mind, I give my view as I see it, even if it does not match the consensus of the forum. We play poorly yet get a result, good, the points are always welcome, but that does not mean that I can not criticise the performance, on occassion when we try something a bit different but fail to get the result then if what we have tried has merit then I have no problem saying so. At the moment I think we were lucky to get 4 points from the Forest and Southampton games, in reality we just about deserved 2, but more importantly, the way that we played left be in some despair. Put simply, we have no plan, no organisation and on occasions no will. We have some very decent players but at the present time they are being simply wasted in a team that does not have the faintest idea of what it is trying to do. Put simply, I can not see what we are trying to achieve, I see no evidence of a system that will allow our players to do their best and I see no suggestion that it is going to change anytime soon, frankly I think we are in trouble, hope I am wrong....
