Hack Posted 27 August 2011 Posted 27 August 2011 Not sure if anyone has posted this, a very good and honest interview with Sven, explains everything including his thinking on the change of formation and its results and a bit on the Nugent situation http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/9574582.stm
shen Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 I see Claridge and the FLS fail to show and mention our clear penalty shout but make a lot of the own goal 'foul'. It was every bit a foul as Boateng's equalizer the other day
CKB Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 As per the Leicester way, we certainly don't do it easy! Chuffed with the win, much needed, some positives but once again negatives aswell.. The defence on paper looks near Premier League quality but at the moment it's looking Blue Square! Hopefully this will not be an issue as the season progresses but at the moment it's very shaky especially when we seem to be winning games and looking comfortable, a certain change in formation and tactics (SVENNIS!!!) may have something to do with that though.....
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 When did we have two penalty shouts? Everytime I saw a challenge being made in their own box they came out with the ball.
reynard Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 When did we have two penalty shouts? Everytime I saw a challenge being made in their own box they came out with the ball. I was sat right opposite the Schlupp claim in the first half and I would say it was a nailed on penalty. Their player just bundled him to the ground and took no part of the ball at all. The ref was probably in a bad place to see it though and the linesman was on the other side of the pitch.
marbelladave Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 When did we have two penalty shouts? Everytime I saw a challenge being made in their own box they came out with the ball. People are talking about the tackle on Schlupp (first half I think), their player came in from the side but took the ball and Schlupp went over. Good clean tackle in my view. The one against Vassell was less clear cut, plenty of contact on the player and not much on the ball, good shout but not 'stonewall'. But you are right, most of their tackling was good, even the one on Vassell looked like an attempt to play the ball.....

Happy to see it in slow motion and admit I'm wrong but from where I was yesterday (directly opposite and with a clear view) I would have to say their player didn't get the ball at all.
ian_marshall Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 I was sat right opposite the Schlupp claim in the first half and I would say it was a nailed on penalty. Their player just bundled him to the ground and took no part of the ball at all. The ref was probably in a bad place to see it though and the linesman was on the other side of the pitch. I agree, I was directly behind it. Schlupp got ahead of the last man, took a second touch to push the ball forward to create space for a shot and the defender played the man not the ball. This was evident as the ball did not change direction. I think it was a clumsy/desperate challenge if anything and probably not intentional but had Schlupp been able to progress he would have been clear of the defender and one on one with the keeper in a very dangerous area, so was definitely a penalty in my view. The Vassell one also looked like a penalty too. From where I was sat it looked as though he wrong footed the and as he cut inside was tripped. Had he got the ball it looked like he would have had a clear shot on goal unchallenged. I know there was claims of a dive but I don't see any reason why he'd try and dive when he'd have a free shot relatively central to the goal. Saying that in all fairness I didn't get the best view of this one so if someone who had a better angle could elaborate it'd be appreciated.
Saint123 Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Having signed up to post an apology on the 'Trouble' thread, I thought I would give you guys my view from the away section yesterday! Firstly, you guys looked very dangerous in the first half, looking as if you were going to score from every attack. Looked as if our midfield couldn't cope, with Fernandes running the show with some neat link up play, I was very impressed. Somehow we got a foot hole in the game thanks to Harding's header but sitting there at half time I knew that own goal from Rickie had cost us. Looked a foul from where I was sitting at the time and seeing it on TV it appears clear, but hey that's in the past and the goal was given. Great bit of half time entertainment with the Saints youngsters relay race against the Foxes. Was fantastic with both sets of fans getting involved (including the Leicester lad falling over and consequently taking out the Saints lad who was in the lead!). Second half, having taken Richardson off with Schneiderlin sitting at CM and Cork moving to RB we appeared to get our passing game flowing better, which had been there in our first 4 games. After Vassell's shot fizzing across Davis's goal early in the second half (which I thought was going in the bottom borner), it really was one way traffic with Lallana and De Ridder playing for decent stuff for us creating numerous chances. Credit to Schmeichel in your goal, some good saves combined with a lack of accuracy from our strikers, earnt you the win! Overall reflection, from where I was sat, a draw would have been perhaps a fair result, with you dominating the first 45minutes and us the second. All that matters is that you got the 3 points and I am looking forward to the return fixture at St Marys later this season. One final comment, I'm not a fan of the Poznan celebration that your fans appear to be starting. I knew it was going to catch on, but for me it is Man City's and I hope that our lot don't start it any time soon. Well done on the win!

Lallana looks about the best opposition player I've seen at the king power Is he for sale?
Saint123 Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Pretty much sums up the game mate IMO. Lallana looks about the best opposition player I've seen at the king power Is he for sale? I'm afraid not! He really has been fantastic for us, without him in the side we struggle to create as much and it is very evident. Him and Jack Cork are our main men. If they can stay fit along with the addition of another CB, I think we can be top 6 along with yourselves.
iancognito Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Happy about the result but we made things far harder than they should have been in the 2nd half. The diamond, for all I said in the pre-match thread, actually worked quite well and then for some reason he decided at half time that Schlupp should go wider, we lost our shape and lacked any cutting edge at all. Jeff himself isn't quite ready for this level but he's never going to be if he's played everywhere but his natural position. His hold up & tee up got us the 2nd goal and to learn the position he needs to play in it more. If there's one player that looks lost with the tactics, it's Kingy. Crossed for the goal and had a shot in the second half but I'd struggle to tell you any other contribution and Gally wasn't much of an improvement. Needs to be Dyer in there, especially at home. Given they're the form team, Southampton weren't overly impressive either. The one problem we had all afternoon and has dogged us at times this season is that when we have to hit it into a channel or clearing our lines, there's no prescence up front to hold the ball or at least win it, it just comes straight back. But like I said, happy with the result and you could see at the end that the players were buzzing too.
The Sven Revolution Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Why doesn't a few teams win every match every year.. It's two teams every match and be honest, IF Sven had kept the the 4-4-2 you had moaned about no second plan(or something similar) especially if we lost.... Wich we didn't.. V good point. Unless we hammer teams 4-0 every week nothing is gonna be good enough for us now is it! WE WON!! Beat the in form team of the league..UTF!
Night Air Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 has bigdutchy been on since southampton's loss?
accessory Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 4-5-1 wasn't massively successful for us even when Nugent was the lone striker. With Vassell in that role it was no wonder that we struggled. He doesn't have the stamina to play 90 minutes these days. And he was VERY lucky to escape another red card when he took out a saints defender near the end (and nearly picking up an injury himself). But it has to be said he took his goal well and linked up well with Schlupp, at least in the first half. If Waghorn and Howard are on their way out then we definitely need two strikers before Wednesday. I'm not convinced we'll even get one. So we can expect more nail-biting drams like the ones last week and yesterday. And Schmeichel junior won't be able to save us every week.
Austin Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Anyone got a video of the goals? Was there, but missed Wellens due to my drunken lack of controlling my bladder, got back to seats and my friend it was a corker! Cheers in advance.

Can imagine it would have been great for you lot but even though we lost, I had a great time. That celebration is something Man City do which your lot seem to have embarressingly adopted. Got chatting to a few of your fans and you seem a decent crowd (although this forum is rapidly changing that opinion) so hope you have a good season. I always look at Leicester as a team that should be in the prem, would be nice if we could both get back up there.

Forget Maynard, put a bid in for Lallana- if Sven's going to persist with this 4-3-3... Lallana would be perfect. How much d'you think he's worth? On a side note, I reckon you'll do very well this season. Some of your football was great in the 2nd half, quick passing outside the area to create chances- which you would've scored on most days, but Schmeichel was excellent. Playing that football against lower sides such as Donny, Barnsley etc, you'll tear their defences apart. Good luck for the rest of the season (as long as you don't finish above us!)

I'm sure Southampton will be well up there come the end of the season.
Jagdinho Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Just saw the Soton thread and thought that this didn't really deserve its own post. Does anyone know what the song was called after 'Louder' Just before the dude played his trumpet? Never heard it at KP before but seemed to like it. I do miss the days when more football related songs were played before a game though like Carnival De Paris or whatever its called! Very good win yesterday! Then international break has to kill it.

By league winners, I meant League leaders, and as you have shown you can play some cracking football and you will be a team to watch this season. Of course we will be on the top at the end So they adopted it from man city but what is the meaning behind turning your backs? Steve

No chance of you guys getting your hands on Lallana! If Oxlade-Chamberlain was worth £12m to Arsenal then Lallana is worth the same, if not more. We rate Lallana overall higher than Oxlade-Chamberlain, so I'm afraid you will have to look elsewhere!
